The model D looks simple but is a royal pain to take apart and put back together properly. The lenses are of the two-element airspaced design and tend to fog with time. To reach the lenses you have to take apart the reel advance mechanism. That's the simple part....wait until you need to take apart the electrical contacts!
As you can see from the these pictures and the table of contents below, this 50 page book is spiral bound and contains lots of pictures and diagrams, guiding you through the basic maintenance and repair work.

Of interest is a "hardware package" that comes with the book. The package contains translucent material to make a diffuser (to convert the viewer to a light-weight steal-the-light viewer) and a reflective material to make a full-size back reflector.
