How to Attach External Power Sources to Stereo Viewers

How do you connect a power supply to a viewer? The easiest and most flexible way is via alligator clips (see below).  These can be attached to almost any viewer.  For most viewers it is possible to attach the clips so that the light is always on.  This is a useful option when passing the viewer around or having a display.  An outside switch (part of the power supply) can turn the light on and off.

Most viewers use two batteries placed next to each other (Realist red button, Kodaslide, Brumberger, etc.) or one at the top of the other (Revere, TDC, etc.). The alligator clips attach to the free terminals 1 and 2.
Possible connections for the Realist red button viewer. The one in the left is the standard connection. The one in the right bypasses the switch and keeps the light on (controlled externally).
