CRP Technology is pleased to announce a new partnership
with Protocast srl: EBM and SLM at top level!

news!

May 12, 2008 - CRP Technology, worldwide leader for more than 30 years in high speed and high quality CNC machining for mechanical parts production and leader in WINDFORM® composite materials and RP services sales, and Protocast srl, leader in the medical, aerospace sectors for Casting, Microcasting and Rapid Prototyping/Rapid Tooling technologies, announce they have signed a partnership agreement with the aim of extending and integrating their own services, in order to assure a higher quality standard and support to all their customers.

The partnership agreed between CRP Technology and Protocast involves two partners, recognized worldwide as leaders within their own specific markets - two complementary companies in Rapid Prototyping technologies.

In particular, Protocast srl will offer to CRP Technology, on an exclusive basis in the global Motor Sport market, their main services of SLM (Selective Laser Melting) and EBM (Electron Beam Melting) and their own experience developed in many years of research and applications in aerospace and medical sectors.

CRP Technology, for its part, offers Protocast and its customers its extensive experience in high speed and high quality CNC machining with 3, 4 & 5 axes, Rapid Prototyping (RP) and Rapid Manufacturing (RM) with SLS Technology (Selective Laser Sintering) and its own composite materials in the Windform® family. In addition, CRP Technology will provide Rapid Casting (lost wax casting with disposable patterns made by RP) in Titanium, Steel or Superalloys, Engineering and Design optimization and Reverse Engineering Services.

Ing. Livia Cevolini, CRP Marketing and Sales Director, comments: "CRP is very pleased to start this new collaboration with a high-level company such as Protocast. For many years CRP Technology has always demonstrated an ability to quickly know what its customers need, researching and studying new technologies and methods suited for Motorsport applications. CRP will always keep providing top level service quality and customer support. We do believe that 'at 300kmh, quality isn't optional, it's your life' and we are sure that failure is far more expensive than quality. For the very same reason, we have chosen Protocast as our partner, being in addition ISO 9100 (for aerospace production) and ISO 13485 compliance (for medial production) certified."

Paolo Gennaro, Protocast President, adds: "We are sure that this new partnership agreement will bring great advantages to both our companies since we have in common, each in our main business sector, a strong customer-satisfaction orientation. Nowadays, we are one of the few companies in the world to be able to produce parts in titanium made by EBM technology and to offer high quality Selective Laser Melting (SLM) services. Now, we can trust in a collaboration with a similar company, specialists in all the other complementary services to ours, such as CNC machining with 3, 4 and 5 axis and RP and RM services with Windform® materials."

About CRP
CRP Technology srl was formed in Modena on 1996 as an R&D department of Roberto Cevolini & C srl company, which was established in 1970 for production of components for Formula 1. CRP has been instrumental in the success of many winning racing teams for more than 30 years, from F1, to MotoGP, WRC (World Rally Championship), American Le Mans Series and Rally Raid (Paris -Dakar).

What makes this company different are the partnerships we have formed with the different teams. CRP is involved at the earliest design and development stages and its innovative approach to the use of new materials and technology is widely recognized by the Motor Sports industry. Our extensive experience of more than 30 years in CNC machining, rapid prototyping (RP) and rapid manufacturing (RM), casting technology, design optimization and materials development makes CRP Technology a unique organization, that not only supplies the innovative Windform® range of laser sintering composite materials, but is also involved at the earliest design and development stages.

About Protocast srl
ProtoCast was born in 2005 with the aim of providing innovative solutions in Casting and Investment Casting Processes for Titanium, Aluminium, Cobalt and stainless steel alloys. At its inception it built the first Italian plant for Titanium quick casting using electron beam technology (EBM) for a drastic reduction in Time To Market.

ProtoCast soon became the Italian and International focal point for biomedical and aerospace sectors to innovate products and processes. Protocast covers the following areas:

  • Engineering and CAD 3D,
  • Rapid Prototyping for plastic components
  • Rapid Manufacturing in aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, stainless steel and cobalt base alloys by investment casting through sintered polystyrene model and Selective Laser Melting (SLM)
  • Quality assurance certified ISO 9100 ( aerospace production) and compliance ISO 13485 (medical devices).
