In colder climates, where entire seasons go by without a need to turn the AC on - turn it on for 10 minutes once a month anyway. This will keep things from drying out and corroding and will annoy and puzzle your passengers. Many modern vehicles automatically operate the AC when the defroster is turned on, even in cold weather, making this unnecessary if you use the defroster once a month, or so. You don’t need to have the AC serviced unless it’s not producing enough cooling to suit your needs. The most likely correction is to recharge the system with Freon.
