Do cavities hurt ?
Sometimes cavities may be present in a tooth or teeth and you may not be
aware that you have any. Some cavities may cause you sensitivity to hot,
cold or sugar. Sometimes you may have a tooth "ACHE" because
of cavities.
What does bleeding in your mouth mean ?
This is usually a sign of gum disease (gingivitis / periodontitis)
This is the major cause of tooth loss after age 30.
How do you prevent this from happening ?
Brush and floss your teeth at least twice a day and see your dentist at least twice a year.
Do cavities mean that you will lose your tooth ?
If the problem is recognized soon enough, a filling can replace the decayed portion of your tooth.
What is a root canal ?
When there is infection of the pulp ("nerve")& of the tooth, a root canal is the method used to devitalize (numb/deaden) the tooth so that it will remain a functioning tooth in your mouth.
What is a crown or "cap" ?
This is a technique to replace the biting surface of the tooth.
