The Cuttyhunk Annual Pig Roast
Later that night, we went ashore once again to join the locals
and visiting boaters for the pig roast. The food was great and it went quickly. There were "seconds" for all and watermelon for dessert.
We had a great time mingling, and eventually hooked up again with Chuck and Dawn Vogt, who introduced us to even more townfolk. We felt like visiting dignitaries.
It was a festive atmosphere with music playing loudly throughout the harbor. We even had a scenic sunset to watch, which added to the summertime feeling.
The dock was rockin' and the party had only just begun!
The DJ kept the crowd pumped up until well after midnight with his "bag of tricks". The "Macarena", the "Hokey Pokey", and everybody tried the "Limbo".
Every hour or so, he'd remind the crowd that officially, the dock was structurally unsafe, and to "use the dock at your own risk".
One of these years, the whole party is going to go crashing into the water!

We headed back to the boat close to midnight, before the crowd got "too ugly", and listened to the party from the boat. (We couldn't help it) We put our ear plugs in and drifted off to sleep.
The next morning we were off to our next destination. Newport, Rhode Island. We had a most enjoyable time at Cuttyhunk and plan to visit again on future Pirate Cruises.
