Pirate Cruise 2000 - More Pirates in Cuttyhunk

"The Imperfect Storm"

The girls at Bart'sAfter visiting with the entire staff at "Bart's Place", we learned that we were lucky enough to be on the island for the annual pig roast, regularly attended by more than 400 people each year.

Chuck and Dawn gave us the "skinny" on getting tickets for theTicket #46 big event on Saturday night, including pig, beans, applesauce, cole slaw, and good old fashioned family fun on the town dock.

Everyone we met on the island was bubbling with excitement and anticipation over this annual summer event. We were looking forward to it!

We headed back to our floating fort, looking forward to favorable weather forecasts for Saturday's big party.

Pretty FloraSaturday morning we went ashore for coffee and to hike the beautiful island, and to see the numerous vistas the island has to offer.

We visited several abandoned military outposts and bunkers installed during World War II to keep an eye on the coastline. The small church, where a string ensemble was playing live music. The small fire department, and the many island residents buzzing around town in their golf carts.

Need a lift?

The islanders are a tight group who depend Out for a hikeupon one another to keep the island pretty and protected from pollution and over-development. We met the postmistress and even the guy who runs the power plant.

Quiet Harbor We visited the tiny gift shop and even the "Ice Lady", who makes her living selling frozen water to the many boaters who visit regularly. Here's the seaplane, making another trip back to the mainland.
