Doc

Hi. I'm "Doc", and this is the story of this year's annual "Pirate Cruise".

Each summer for almost 10 years now, we leave the safe harbor1991 of Fisher's Island Sound and Mystic, Connecticut, to explore, discover, and have fun, while sailing the waters off the east coast.

It's now an annual tradition.

The week of July 24th , we headed to Block Island, Cuttyhunk, a small island off the coast of Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts, and Newport, Rhode Island, sailing capital of the northeast.

Let's just say, it was a little "damp"!
We had fun dodging the raindrops and we met some great people everywhere we went.

I have lots of photos of the people, the places, and the sights along the way.

KevinMarkFix yourself a fancy island drink and put on your favorite hawaiian shirt and join us as we visit the people and the islands off the coast of Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts.

We hope you enjoy the ride!

I cannot control the ocean tides.
I can only go with the flow.

"When I struggle and try to organize the
Atlantic to my specifications, I sink.

"If I fail and thrash and growl and grumble,
I go under.

"But if I let go and float, I am borne aloft."

Doc's Sailing Pages, Pirate Cruise 2000 to Block Island, Cuttyhunk, and Newport

A wet cruise...This year, we were particularly challenged by the weather. Luckily, though it was cloudy or rainy at times, we had an opportunity to explore each destination and to enjoy an excellent time at the Annual Pig Roast on Cuttyhunk Island and meet some great people in Newport, Rhode Island.

The Reunion

ChrisWe all met in Noank on Wednesday. Mark drove from New Jersey and Kevin flew in from Toronto. Chris picked up Kevin at the airport and we all met at the boat yard in Noank.

We spent the first day getting our gear on board and helping West Marine with their monthly sales targets, by purchasing only the latest in brand new foul weatherPirate Cruise 2000 gear in preparation for the incoming storm, which had already begun to stall over the east coast.

Apparently, everyone knew I'd be taking pictures. We were camera-ready!

Chris passed out our brand new custom made "Pirate Cruise 2000" hats as soon as we were settled on board Zayda, our "mother ship" for the trip.

We had dinner in Mystic and listened to a fantastic band before heading back to our home on the water. We prepared for our departure Thursday morning to "Old Harbor" on Block Island, our first stop.

Come on along and look at the sights and meet some of the nice people we met along the way...
