Storm Solutions Software was founded in 1998 by David Storm.  David, taking advantage of his many years of developing user-oriented software, has set the company's mission to be to develop affordable quality software which will be of utility to both business and individual users.  Its initial emphasis will be on mortgage software, but other areas are under investigation.

David Storm has a Ph.D. in Chemistry and is a Supervising Staff Toxicologist with the California Department of Health Services Drinking Water Program.  He has been using and programming microcomputers since 1981 when he purchased an Apple ][ plus.  On the Apple he developed a variety of software applications, programming in Basic and assembly language.  His early interests were developing graphics utilities, math plotting programs, and toxicology prediction simulations for hazardous wastes.  He developed one of the first graphic compression utilities for the Apple ][.  He also prepared budget and mortgage tracking programs for his own use primarily because at that time little such software was available for the Apple.

In 1988 he purchased his first IBM compatible PC primarily to be compatible with his work at the Health Department.  He expanded on his mortgage software on the PC and published it as a Quick Basic shareware application named F.L.A.P. (Flexible Loan Amortization Processor) in the late 1980's.  In the early 1990's, he released version 2.0 of F.L.A.P. which, prepared using "C", was considerably enhanced and included possibly the first grid mortgage calculator called the Matrix Calculator.

David is manager of the State's LAN-based drinking water quality database, WQM, and has developed much software for the state in "C" and Visual Basic to use  and manage the database.  The database, tracking all chemical and physical monitoring that takes place in public drinking water systems in California, accepts about one-million analyses each year.  His major programming activity has been the development and support for drinking water quality input software used by certified environmental laboratories to enter drinking water analyses data for submission to the Department via the internet.  He released a 32 bit Windows 95 version of the software in 1998.  The software, which is freeware, can be downloaded at the State Drinking Water website.

David lives on his 6.5 acre riverside country retreat with his wife, Jane, outside Sacramento where he enjoys gardening, landscaping, and tending his fruit orchard and 300-tree eucalyptus wood farm.  Taking advantage of the many unobstructed miles on the Sacramento River levee system just at his doorstep, he is an avid "country" long distance runner and fitness enthusiast.  He is also a born-again "roadie" cyclist, and participates in weekend rides in the Sierra foothills with the Sacramento Wheelmen. Gardening, running, and fitness are all possible subjects for future software releases.  David is a life-long movie and sci-fi buff.
