Spring

Spring

This is the season to venture out of doors to appreciate the rebirth of nature. Now is the time to paint bunnies and eggs and florals. How about painting a flowerpot to match the handle of a trowel to co-ordinate with garden gloves? Insert a matching plant poke, plant your favorite posy and spring has sprung. To add a touch of nature gather some Spanish Moss and glue to form a nest, add in a feather and paint some miniature eggs Robins Egg Blue. Tuck this into a corner of your bookcase or on a hall table for a reminder of Springs's renewal. Some other garden craft ideas can be found here.

Birds and bees also seem to tell us spring is in the air. Why not tea-dye a garden glove and fill it with dried florals. Add a bird or a bee and hang it with a piece of jute for an everlasting garden bouquet. If you stuffed some potpourri in the fingers of the glove it would smell wonderful as well. More spring and Easter ideas are here, with a page of Bunny Prints as well.

Summer

Patriotic

Here in the United States the pastel colors of Spring have deepened to the Red, White, and Blue of Americana. Stars and Stripes are everywhere. How about painting some assorted dowels with stars and stripes. To make firecrackers add a jute fuse for a bang up forth of July celebration. Small dowels can be pins, medium size dowels can be hung from a peg and large dowels could be used as a table decoration. I have a page of more Summer Crafts and Garden Crafts with a Free Pattern to see as well.

Fall

Turkey

Scarecrows, pumpkins, Indian corn, and Jack 'O Lanterns abound. For a simple and colorful door decoration cut out some leaf shapes from 3/4 inch pine. (Use a leaf for a pattern) Paint them with a stencil brush the vibrant colors of fall. Drill a hole and glue jute to use as a hanger. Add a bow of raffia at the top and you have a country welcome to put on your door.

Have you seen the Crows in the Corn?Add a scarecrow and you're all set. I've also painted Jack 'O Lantern spoons for Halloween with a ghost for good measure. Check the other Halloween Crafts and Recipes, and Thanksgiving Crafts and Recipes as well.

Winter

Stocking

This is my favorite time of year for crafting. How about painting a garland of stockings as an ornament that spans two branches. This would be very special personalized for family members. Christmas ornaments have always been big sellers for me.

I have also painted Santa on everything from wooden spoons, to coffee cans, to finials, and cheese boxes. I like to paint angels as well with hair of wool, curled jute, Spanish Moss, curled raffia, or whatever strikes my fancy. If you wrap raffia or jute around a knitting needle and wet it when it dries you'll have lots of curls for your angel. Using the same dough from my Potpourri Pie Recipe try making Gingerbread men to last forever. I made a swag of Gingerbread people to hang over my kitchen door and decorated them with painted "icing".
When Valentines Day rolls around take a peek here.
