Wednesday in New Orleans was my day for lunch with Althea.  She is my mother-in-law, and even though I have been divorced from her son since 1974, we have maintained our friendship and enjoyed each other's company for all this time.  She is an amazing woman, 81 yrs old at the time I am writing this.   Whenever I am in town, I pick her up and take her to lunch at Mr. Ed's, an old neighborhood restaurant in a very interesting (ahem... colorful?) area called Bucktown.  It's right on Lake Pontchartrain, and a lot of seafood supply places are located there.

Althea

This is my wonderful mother-in-law, Althea Hagardorn, and she is doing what most New Orleanians do best.  Eating.   In this case, she is dining on soft-shell crabs.

She is really a hoot.  During lunch, she told me about a recent trip to Las Vegas to visit friends, where she found herself on the back end of a Harley, riding with the wind down the Vegas Strip.  Photographic proof is supplied below!

For those who might be interested, my meal at Mr. Ed's was a broiled red snapper over pasta, smothered in a sauteed crawfish sauce.  Feast your eyes on it below!
