Aegina, the last island we visited, is only about an hour's sail from the Greek mainland.  It is where many Athenians come for weekend getaways, vacations, and to stock up on pistachio nuts, which are grown in abundance here.

Setting sail for Aegina,  some of our group decided to use the time to start organizing and packing for the return home...

...while others used their time to brush up on information contained within the weighty pages of the Blue Book of Greece.

...so will too much Greek dancing!

The Blue Book of Greece will do this to you...

Aegina has been inhabited since the Neolithic era, and the Temple of Aphaea is a very lovely example of 6th century architecture.

The Sanctuary of Aphaea rises on an imposing artificial balcony overlooking the entire Saronic Gulf.

This is the home which Eleni and Themi are building on the island of Aegina.

Actually, Themi is doing most of the work himself.  Their home is simply beautiful.

New home, ancient touches The house itself is airy and light, with a stunning view of the sea from the terraces and roofs.

And Themi's workshop is as unique as he is.
