DDGM Barbara P. Martin
The Adoptive Rite was introduced in North Carolina during the early 1870's, with the first African American OES Grand Chapter in the United States being established in Washington, NC in 1880. The 30th District represents only a small portion of the North Carolina Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star - an Affiliate of the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge Free and Accepted Masons of North Carolina and Jurisdictions, Incorporated.
Sis. Juanita Bright is Grand Worthy Matron and Bro. Harold Chestnut serves as our Grand Worthy Patron. Sis. Barbara P. Martin is District Deputy Grand Matron.
The 30th District is rich in history, benevolence and undeviating loyalty. We have nine OES Chapters with a membership of approximately 600 and we are constantly growing and glowing. Since the new millennium, we have chartered two new Chapters, won the State OES Queens Contest twice and placed first runner-up. Our members and Chapters are involved in numerous charitable projects. We attend and support all District and Grand Chapter functions.

Order of the Eastern Star
by Hallett Hill
Beloved One, Where'er you are,
Face ever Eastward toward the Light
That guides our footsteps from afar,
Forever upward toward our Star
Of five illumined points of light.
Xpress through consciousness the proof;
Fidelity, inspired by Faith
In Purity of Zeal for Truth,
Exemplified in life by Ruth,
Reveals the Patience learned in faith.
And let your light reflect God's might
In thoughts on Truth and joyful deed.
Revealed in consciousness of right,
That fills the heart with much delight
To see the fruits of thoughtful deeds.
