District Advisor - Sis. Jean St. Preux
The Youth Department for the Jurisdiction of North Carolina was recommended by Grand Worthy Matron Maggie Strong in September 1962, and adopted by the Grand Chapter in September 1963 at its 63rd session held in Clinton, NC.
The purpose being to teach the principles of good citizenship and be trained in the values of charity and benevolence, the virtues of a wholesome and good life. This Department for the youth is to give young ladies an inside ideal of LOVE, TRUTH, OBEDIANCE, etc. The instructions are to be impressive as possible, never boring, but interesting.
There are two Gleaner Branches located within the 30th District. Elizabeth M. Tilley # 68 and Mary L. Fair # 137. The girls range in age from 8 to 18 years old. The girls have placed first, second and third in various statewide competitions and are very active within their respective Branches.
