Here is a character who meets and greets at Disney World, along with their autograph and where they were found:

Launchpad McQuack

Launchpad McQuack

A Character From the Cartoon: Toon Disney's Duck Tails and Others

Common or Rare: Rare     (Click to see common/rare scale)

Note: Fully admit our family is taking a break from Disney and are no longer updating this site at this time (2009). Information is probably out-of-date.

Best Spot for meeting this character (if there is one!): Entrance to Animal Kingdom; maybe also the Entrance to Magic Kingdom

Your Chances of Finding This Character: You chances are just about as good as Launchpad making a perfect landing! (Which is not great!)

General Info: Launchpad McQuack is a classic Disney character, from various cartoon like Duck Tails. He is a pilot and known for shaky, yet successful landings! At Disney World, he is one of the more unusual characters, and can be hard to find. We personally only seen him at Magic Kingdom. I also heard from people who have seen him at the entrance to Animal Kingdom. At Magic Kingdom, we seen him by the entrance (but not recently) or at the ToonTown Train Station, which is a very hit-or-miss location for characters. He also is a character who is often misidentified. We heard people call him Darkwing Duck, and others say "Hey look - it's Donald Duck dressed as a pilot!!!" ARRRGGG!!!

Where we met Launchpad:

Nov 2006 - Entrance to Animal Kingdom (Animal Kingdom)
Jan 2006 - ToonTown Train Station/Tear Drop (Magic Kingdom)
April 2005 - Town Square after entering the park on Main Street (Magic Kingdom)
April 2004 - Front of the Castle (Magic Kingdom)
May 2003 - Town Square after entering the park on Main Street (Magic Kingdom)
Jan 2003 - Town Square after entering the park on Main Street (Magic Kingdom)

Character Hunting Tips: - Finding a beloved character can be a child (or adult's!) highlight of a trip to Disney World! On this page, we listed a character we met, also the places we seen this character on our week-long trips (Jan 2003, May 2003, Oct 2003, Jan 2004, April 2004, Oct/Nov 2004, April 2005, Oct 2005, December 2005, January 2006, May 2006, November 2006, February 2007, September 2007, January 2008, October 2008). Some characters were found by some fellow character hunters who were nice enough to help us out! Unfortunately, we aren't local to Florida (wish we were!!!), so we certainly don't know everything about every character! But we tried to list good places to look and recent reliable sightings of that character!

Must say, sometimes finding a favorite character can be difficult! One day you may see a bunch of characters in one spot, and the next day - not one! Some characters may be everywhere on one trip, and nowhere the next! And some characters come out only for 10 minute meets, then don't return for hours! Yikes! Your best bet to find your favorite character is to read various character websites (check links here!), or ask at Guest Relations at a Disney World park or resort (sometimes they can tell you where a character is meeting people that day), or check the Times Guide Map that you pick up when you enter the Disney World parks. Or just wander around and constantly look everywhere you go! Good luck character hunting!!
