*Weekend O'Fun*

Our trip to the Big City January 14-16, 2005. So many memories, I felt the need to record and share...

Christina and I left work and on Friday. This was a total spur-of-the-moment idea, I just got the message in the afternoon that everything was a go! We drove

to Pittsburgh and arrived at the Westin

to check in. We got great rates via .

After making our wardrobe selections, we attempted to leave the sixth floor of the hotel without pushing the elevator button... I must have been flustered because I got off on the wrong floor and walked into a convention. The other guys and Christina on the elevator were yelling, "Wrong floor!" Haha. We went via taxi (I'm hailing you!) to in a fun PT Cruiser. We were supposed to maybe meet up with some guys, BUT no one called which was disappointing. At Matrix, we (aka W.S.) sat at our corner table until it was stolen, then decided to hit the dance floor amongst all the W.L.'s. The Top 40 room was full of trash so we ended up in the 80's room. After an incident where Christina sacrificed her body trying to save a drink... we partied with some of our favorites:

We even had to turn away some fat guys and got a free drink from a guy the same age as our dads. Apparently a bartender asking "What are you drinking" sometimes causes confusion when neither of us was trying to order!

We received a call (!) from Amy and Brad who picked us up on the way to . There was some major confusion, the debacle that ensued from 'Candice's 10 Minutes of Alone Time' (never a good thing), and also my bad idea to text message at 1:15am (never EVER a good thing. One of those, 'what was I thinking?' moments. I'm such a dork sometimes.) The guys we had met two week earlier walked us back to the Westin since mini van taxis won't pick up six people. (Shady behavior.) "Let's just walk back!" Fun times for a while, it was nice. After making plans for the next day, at 4am Christina and I drifted off into much-needed sleep.

"The sun is shining!" Thank you Christina, it is 9:30am!

We ordered pizza from Uno's and I wandered through the lobby in my pj's searching for the hidden pop machine. Since there was no word from the boys after they had invited us to tailgate with them, we put on our lucky 7's and headed to Hi Tops. Twenty-minute wait outside in the cold, then we strategically placed ourselves next to some "prime property", aka behind a table with an unobstructed view of a big screen.

We watched our boy Ben strike fear into every Steeler fan. We had to listen to the idiot CBS announcers talk about how the "Steelers have problems, both internally and externally." WTF? We bonded with Kurt and his cousin, refused to use the restroom (due to the long line) and screamed and cheered until our voices were partially gone. After two heart-stopping field goal attempts by the Jets, Jeff Reed came through as we partaked in group hugs, high fives, and the general excitement of winning the game. We'll be back next week!

Since it was after 8:00pm and we didn't have much time, we decided to walk about a mile back in the cold, no coats. It wasn't as bad as it sounds! Amy joined us, and because we hadn't heard from the guys (no big surprise by that point, sigh. Thirty seconds would seriously have made my day), we left for a night in the Strip.

First stop, Rolland's. [Christina: Do you want me to tell him where we are?] :) Talked to some cute guys, but they were going to Sanctuary, which is not our favorite place. ~Sicilian siting!~ Missed call from D.K., wish I would have heard it! :) Discussion with the restroom attendant, *Christina tipped her! After the worst Jagerbomb ever, we walked to .

Everyone was pretty calm there, we did our usual walk-through, some guy spilled a drink down my dry clean only shirt (except in teal) and we got hit on by a short, stocky lesbian. Actual conversation - Lesbian: What are your names? Us: Christina, Amy, Candice. L: Oh I thought you were Corrine. Christina: Do I look Korean? <Laughter ensues.> L: You need to be individuals. Us: WTF? Amy is Italian, Christina is half Italian, and I am Finnish. L: Highlights, highlights, highlights. Candice: Spewing forth a tirade about how my highlights are now gone and how I used to be a blonde three months ago, all of which bored the lesbian into walking away. We must get out of here.

We decided to head to Sanctuary, but it was so cold and Touch looked relatively crowded for a Saturday night after a big game, so we went in there instead. We danced with a circle of guys around us at all times, after Christina took our train directly through the center of the dance floor. We had to do some finger waving at ugly guys too brave for their own good. I believe I heard Christina yell, "Her boyfriend wouldn't like you to be doing that!" Haha. I also took a few '10 Minutes of Alone Time' but it wasn't as bad as Friday night.

I saw Joe from Robert Morris who I had met about a year ago. He said Ben is no longer dating Brianne. Wonderful. Joe asked to take me out on a real date, dinner, movie, hang out, because that's what nice guys do. Not sure if I want to go though, because as I kept belting out Friday night, "I don't always like guys." LET me explain further, usually most guys I meet are metrosexual non-manly guys, which I hate. I just can't like a guy if he has certain qualities which set off my internal alarm system. Joe might fall slightly into this category in some ways and I just can't do it.

Someone (I'll shoot you when I find out) suggests going to H2O and even though I know it's a terrible idea, we go anyway. On the way we decided to sing our favorite song, 'Pittsburgh Steeler Time.' I think some weird guy behind us thought he was cool by joining in but we just ignored him because he was out of tune. In H2O, we lasted less than a half hour. I was in tears, Christina kept yelling, "There's nothing here for us!", and Amy dragged us around in circles. Apparently my previously blonde hair was not the reason that black men always find me attractive because I've never been violated by so many in my entire life. Literally grabbing me and not letting go, we had to beat them off with a stick. [Please let me know if you have any ideas on why this happens to me and only me. My ghetto booty?] We got the hell out of there! I'm never going back.

We had some trouble at the end of the night because Amy and Christina went out the door first, and I realized that I wouldn't last long in the 5 degree weather with a tank top on. Unfortunately, 'they have cameras' and the dude at the door wouldn't let them back in. I kept calling over and over to try to get a taxi, but it was busy, then I got put on hold... I almost started crying again when I realized I was inside H20 alone and I could see Amy and Christina dying a slow death of hypothermia through the window. I gave in, ran out the door to freedom, and luckily we hailed a taxi just down the block.

3am, the end of our night. More text messaging (take my phone away from me...) I decided to call Jason because he's such a dependable, manly guy who is always happy to talk to us, makes plans to hang out, actually shows up, etc. Christina was jumping on the bed because she could hear my 'new text message' beeping and thought it might be someone exciting, but alas it was only go-on-a-date-with-me-Joe.

Sunday brought the end of our Weekend O'Fun. Even though there were some disappointments and maybe we expect too much from people or misinterpreted some things that weren't there, we had a great weekend. We have fun no matter what we do because we're totally fun, awesome, strong, independant girls who are happy with who we are and deserve to be treated well. We shall see what happens from here. I guess the cul-de-sac will have to wait a bit longer... HA!
