From the
Agora, we had lunch
in the Plaka, a fabulous downtown area of shops, cafes and tavernas.
The food, ah... the food! Following lunch we boarded our bus again
with our faithful driver, Jimmy, for a MOST interesting journey to the
Acropolis...

Lunch at The Hermion. The setting was marvelous, a
courtyard covered with a trellis full of grape vines. |

|
John was more
impressed by the bread. |

One of the
highlights of the entire trip was a traffic hoohah on a side street in
the Plaka. |
Jimmy, our
driver (be still, my heart), is an excellent judge of distance and depth
perception, but even his expertise couldn't deal with an illegally parked
car.. |

Naturally,
the bus emptied and we witnessed Greek language (and gestures) at their
finest. The men on the bus thought they could lift the car out of
the way. Yeah, right. |

|
While I was
watching and taking pictures, a guy came over to me and muttered,
"This would NEVER happen on Cyprus." (That's him in the yellow
shirt.) |

The
Cypriot, Antoniou Stelios, asked me if I would take his photo in the
middle of the hoohah and mail it to him when I returned. Of
course, I agreed. |

|
Within twenty
minutes, a policeman arrived with tow truck to move the car.
Interestingly, they simply moved the car around the corner and left it
there. |
