Virgin Atlantic Beauty

Our trip from JFK airport got off to a rousing start with the cancellation of our Lufthansa flight due to the lack of a certified crew to fly the plane.  I just love it when the Germans screw up.  Our American tour leader, Sara, rose to the occasion, however, and a few hours later we found ourselves on a Virgin Atlantic flight, winging our way to London's Heathrow airport, and then to Athens via Olympic Airways.

This photo is of our Virgin Atlantic aircraft.  I think the Brits have a lot more style than the Germans when it comes to aircraft, although I found Heathrow airport a dingy and drab place.

Our luggage arrived via Lufthansa three days later.  No problem, though.  I had the clothes on my back and a carry-on bag with toiletries, underwear, and a digital camera!

Oh, and I heard there was an earthquake in Athens two days before I left.  My motto for the trip?

"Earthquake?  What earthquake?"
