About OsteoMed
OsteoMed is a privately held, rapidly growing medical device manufacturing business located in Addison, Texas. OsteoMed designs, develops, manufactures and distributes products from its newly constructed 60,000 SF world headquarters. The company started by designing and supplying proprietary, patented instruments for orthopedic hip surgery. Product lines were quickly expanded to focus on small bone rigid fixation systems.
OsteoMed was founded in 1991 in Glendale, California, by Jim Lafferty and Rick Buss. In 1993, the company added its first direct salesperson and began to offer its products for sale internationally. The same year, the company relocated to Dallas, Texas. In 1997, OsteoMed took a major step by relocating to Addison, in preparation for in-house manufacturing, previously outsourced. OsteoMed was sold to the Pritzker family-owned Marmon Group in August 1999.
Today, OsteoMed is the industry's innovation leader and offers over 1,600 surgical implant devices for maxillofacial, neuro, and orthopedic small bone surgery along with a line of powered surgical instruments. The company markets to oral maxillofacial, plastic, ENT, neuro and orthopedic extremity surgeons and sells its products to hospitals and surgical centers globally.
