About InSightec
The company was established at the beginning of 1999 as a joint venture between Elbit Medical Imaging (EMI) and General Electric Medical Systems (GEMS) with the above defined vision. The HIFUS technology was pursued by GEMS from 1993 with first installation of a prototype in a clinical site during 1995. EMI pursued this technology from 1997 within its ultrasound company, Diasonics - Vingmed Ultrasound, that was later acquired by GEMS.
