  1. Cookies - Cookies are information tags written into a cookies.txt file on your computer.  This allows the site to determine how many times a particular user accesses thier site.  Browzer options allow you to determine if you want a cookie set.  Sites can be persistent in trying to set a cookie.

  2. Crack - A software program designed to defeat the software protection put into software by the manufacturer.
  3. Domain - The domain is a registered location on the Internet.(i.e. www.microsoft.com is the domain for MicroSoft Software)
  4. FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions file containing useful and helpful information onwhat ever the topic the FAQ is written for.  When doing searches or trying to solve problems with software or computers, it is a fast way to find help if you include FAQ or faq (The Internet is case sensititve) in your search.
  5. Nag Screen - A reminder that pops up to let you know the software author wants you to pay for the use of the software.
  6. Shareware - Software that is distributed where the author relies on the user to pay a fee for the use and support of the software.
  7. SPAM - Unwanted email (junk email).  ISP's define as broadcast to more than 25 people at one time.
  8. Surfin' - Implies that someone is visiting sites on the Internet, typically for entertainment or "educational" purposes.   Considered theft by some employers who allow Internet Access to employees during work hours [Not being used for actual "work"]
  9. Trial Software - Software that is provided for a limited period of time for evaluation purposes.  Sometimes will not activate after the evaluation period is over.
  10. URL> - Uniform Resource Locator (URL) is the web address for a web page.
  11. WAREZ - Bootleg copies of software placed on News Groups for "evaluation" purposes only.  Typically full featured, functional and if copy protected, "cracked".  Warning - many pornography sites offer WAREZ to get you to look at thier site.  Typically, accessing a WAREZ site has turned into a window spawning session where clicking onto the WAREZ site cause multiple windows with various types of pornographic entertainment to open up.
