Conceptualized from a
costume design found in "La Mode Illustree," this gown is a
contemporary re-creation of one of Mmes Coussinet-Piret's
turn-of-the-century gowns, rue
Richer, circa 1894. Fashioned
with the traditional Victorian requirements of a narrow waist,
tight bodice and full skirt with a train, this gown also
features a French gigot sleeve; wide and rounded at the
shoulder while snuggly fitting on the lower arm. Created
from an inner dress of Bridal Satin with net and an outer
layer of embroidered organza, the gown features a fitted and
dropped Basque waist and full skirt with cathedral
train. Gigot or "Leg o' mutton" sleeves with
scalloped organza oversleeve end in a wedding point.
Illusion
netting emphasizes the high wedding neck of pearl beaded organza and
frames the sweetheart bustline. A double tier of scalloped organza
encircles the skirt and train and is embroidered with rayon
thread.

Hand
dyed a silver satin with silver blue embroidery, the gown floats like a
cloud, and dreamily suggests another era.
Silver blue Illusion netting
made from a sheer net appears almost invisible, giving the impression
that the wedding band collar is like a necklace wrapped around your
neck. Small white pearls are sewn
onto the embroidered organza appliqué of leaves and flowers. A
small amount of golden green and pink aurora borealis gel sequins are
sewn into the center leaves.
