Desert Gold Diggers

DGD Outing to "Wishful Thinking" on 7 Feb 2009

Well, the threat of rain did not stop us from having a great turn out for the outing this month to the Wishful Thinking claims south of Arivaca. We had 50 members and a couple of guests meet at the General Store in Arivaca and travel the 12 or so miles to the claims.

After a short meeting at the start of the claims to detail the days events, Lonny Ripplinger led the members into and dispersed them along the road all thru-out the 2 claims.

As usual we had a variety of methods to extract the gold from its hiding places. I talked with a number of members and found that most were finding color in just about every place on the claims. A few pickers and a lot of small gold was found.

Set the coin hunt up just inside the first claim and a lot of the "detectors'" went to work trying to find a marked presidential dollar to exchange for a nugget at the next meeting. If you found one please bring it to the next meeting or let a me or and officer of the club know you have one and can't make the meeting.

We had a guest call and go with us from Virginia who found us online. A couple of the members took him along with them to prospect, a great thanks to them.

Thanks to Tana Scott for providing the pictures and captions of the outing.
