Desert Gold Diggers

DGD Outing to "Stevens Shadow" on 11-12 September 2004

The September outing was at the Stevens Shadow claims in the Sierrita Mountains. Sixteen members showed up at the Chevron station in Three Points for this outing. However, this does not include the thirty some members who camped out on Friday night. There is only one word to describe this outing, HOT!!! The weather forecast called for 102 degrees and it felt like it. In all fairness to the campers, it was said that the evenings were gorgeous and rather comfortable.

This is a good gold claim and everyone was finding fine gold. Anthony Calcagno was running his recirculating sluice, Gary Grant and Loren Bos were running Dry Washers. Carter Thoenes also had his equipment going strong. There were quite a few members who were nugget shooting. No gold nuggets were found but lots of the copper/silver nuggets were found as is the usual case for this claim.
