Desert Gold Diggers

DGD Outing at "Isolation" on 10 August 2003

For the August outing, we finally made it to the "Isolation" claim in the Greaterville area. There were 22 brave members attending this HOT, HOT outing. Many new members came out and saw what real prospecting was all about. A group tutored by George Volker and Jerry Schultz actually did real well, bringing home about 20 pickers each plus lots of fines. There were quite a variety of machines being used, sluices, drywashers, puffers, rocker boxes, vacuums and of course metal detectors. Even though it was extremely hot, everyone was having a great time.

Above description from the Gazette, pictures and captions courtesy of Bob Boor.

dig and then classifying the material. (I understand that they
did quite well with at least 8 pickers and gold in every pan.)
