OVERVIEW OF PASSOVER

This paper discusses the Passover feast. God's people were told to keep the feast forever. Jesus observed all the feasts and was our Passover lamb. An example of a Seder is presented which would take under a half hour to complete. All scriptures are from the King James' version Bible.

THEME: PASSOVER
SERVICE:
The Seder, meaning order, is a religious joyous feast. The Jewish family
uses a book called the Haggadah, meaning retelling,
for the order of service. The Passover was to retell the story of
ROASTED SHANK-BONE: Symbolic of the blood put on the house door-posts. The death angel would past over the house, and the first born male would not be killed. The prophecy is also for the blood on the door-post of our hearts. Likewise the death angel would see Jesus blood and Passover us.

(1 day duration). 14th day of Nisan
1st MONTH March/April. (PESACH) Next day, a Sabbath, Un-leaven

Jesus celebrated the Seder with His disciples on the day when the lambs are killed.

WHEREAS:
MATZAH: 3 Un-leaven breads. They symbolizes a un-leaven (sinless) savior who was striped (wiped for our sorrows and sickness) and was pierced (nails pierced his hands, feet and side) for our sins on the cross. Three symbolize the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The middle piece is broken (Jesus was broken - killed) and half is hidden for the children to find (Jesus has been hidden from the Jew) and the child that finds it receives a reward (eternal life). The middle one is named Afikomen (The only Greek word in a Hebrew service). The Greek word means: I have come and I will come again.

"Blessed art thou, O lord our God, King of the universe, who hast sanctified us by thy commandments and hast commanded us to kindle the Festival light."
"Blessed art thou, O Lord our God, King of the universe, who hast kept us in life, and hast preserved us, and hast enabled us to reach this season."

IX) FIRST CUP OF WINE:
The prayer for the wine is stated and the 1st cup of wine is drank.
X) WASHING:
Washing of the hands is done. Jesus also washed the disciples feet.
XI) KARPAS: Parsley dipped in salted water. The leader prays:
"Blessed art Thou, O Lord our God, King of the universe, Who created the fruit of the soil." We remember the tears and sweat of slavery. This was symbolic of slavery of sin which only Jesus could remove from us.

The 2nd cup of wine is filled. Do not drink the wine yet.
XIII) CHILD ASK THE FOUR QUESTIONS:
- Why is this night different from all other nights?
- On other nights we may eat leavened or un-leavened bread, but on this night why do we eat only un-leaven bread?
- On other nights we eat all types of herbs, but on this night why do we only eat bitter herbs?
- On other nights we do not dip once. On this night we dip twice.
- On other nights we eat sitting or leaning, but on this night why do we eat reclining?
A detailed story of the exodus is presented here. If a full Seder is gone through, it could take a few hours. The Seder presented takes under a half hour. When the part of the story of the plagues is presented, after each of the 10 plagues are named, a drop of wine is place from the cup to the plate with the finger. The 10 plagues are: Blood, Frogs, Gnats, Flies, Murrain, Boils, Hail, Locusts, Darkness and The Slaying of the First-born.
The song Dayenu (means: It would have been enough) is then sung.
XIV) ROASTED SHANK-BONE: Symbolic of the blood put on the house door-posts. The death angel would past over the house, and the first born male would not be killed. The prophecy is also for the blood on the door-post of our hearts. Likewise the death angel would see Jesus blood and passover us. Point to the shank-bone.
XV) HARD-BOILED EGG: Reminds us of the peace offering given at the temple the 2nd day of Pesach.

The prayer for the wine is stated and the 2nd cup of wine is drank.
XVIII) THIRD CUP OF WINE:
The third cup of wine is filled. Drink after bitter-herb is taken.
XIX) BITTER-HERBS: Horseradish with matzah. A symbolize of bitter life.
"Blessed art Thou, O Lord our God, King of the universe, Who created the fruit of the soil." We remember the tears and sweat of slavery. A symbolic of slavery of sin which only Jesus could remove from us.
The prayer for the wine is stated and the 3th cup of wine is drank.
XX) CHAROSES:
Mixture of apples, cinnamon, walnuts and wine. This symbolizes the mortar for
making bricks in
"Blessed art Thou, O Lord our God, King of the universe, Who created the fruit of the tree." Eat Charoses with matzah.
XXI) ELIJAH CUP OF WINE & SETTING: The house door is open & he is called
XXII) THE MAIN MEAL:
Moses and
XXIII) AFIKOMEN: The children find the half piece of matzah. It is eaten after the meal.
XXIV) FOURTH CUP OF WINE: This is probably when Jesus gave communion.
The 4th cup of wine is filled.
The prayer for the wine is stated and the 4th cup of wine is drank.
