IV) KINGDOM LIFE:
A) BEATITUDES:
LUKE'S BLESSINGS & WOES:
Poor in spirit: The goal is Christ. When the Christian examines himself he sees no righteousness of his own. He is poor, but rich. He is rich because God called and elected him into His kingdom.
Meek: Meek, not weak, before God knowing his spiritual limitations.
Moses was the meekest man, but he was a strong leader.
Inherit the earth: The Christian will live on a new earth forever.
Hunger and thirst after righteousness: Desire to have Jesus's
perfection (Matthew
Merciful: for they shall
obtain mercy: Whole parable in
Pure in heart: Because Christ changed the Christian's heart.
Peacemakers: Unity in family of God. Stand for peace to others.
Persecuted for righteousness sake: Righteousness is obeying God.
Persecute for my sake: In Jesus stead, since He is not here, the Overcomer Christian will suffers in His place for Him.
Great is your reward in heaven:
The Matthew Sermon on the Mount only has blessings whereas the Luke version of the sermon includes woes.
B) CHRISTIAN LIFE AND
INFLUENCE (SALT & LIGHT):
Salt: To preserve (Christian influence), enhance the flavor (add Christian values) and purify (clean) the people around us.
Christian Light shine:
God should receives the glory for the Christians deeds
which are the evidences of their salvation. The people around should see Christ
in our life. Jesus is the light of the world (John
V) KINGDOM PRINCIPLES:
A) PRINCIPLES OF MOSES
(FULFILLMENT OF LAW):
Think not I am come to destroy the law, but to fulfill: Jesus is the only man who did everything perfectly under the law. He fulfilled all the requirements of God's eternal & perfect law.
We can not keep the law perfectly, but we can receive from Jesus of His accomplishments through our faith. Jesus showed, in the sermon, that the law must be fulfilled in the Christian's heart.
Christians are not under law but principles shown in scriptures:
Inner attitude of the heart as compared with outward conformity. The Christian has no rules or laws. He has Biblical principles. He is not to break the law, since God's law is perfect for all times. .
Break least commandment or teach men so, called least in kingdom:
Your righteousness exceed scribe and Pharisees, not enter kingdom:
B) PRINCIPLES OF ANGER:
Thou shalt not kill:
Whosoever is angry with his brother...in danger of the judgment:
Jesus takes the law & changes it from a letter to a heart attitude.
C) PRINCIPLES OF
RECONCILING:
Reconcile to thy brother, then offer thy gift: First make your relationship with your brother correct by apologizing & forgiving.
D) PRINCIPLES OF PURITY:
Ye have heard, of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
I say, whosoever looketh to lust hath committed adultery with her:
The principle is that the Christian should have inward purity. A non-Christian, if he thought he would not be punished, he would do
the act. Therefore, he is guilty in his heart.
If thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, profitable one member perish, thy whole body be cast into hell: Shown is the importance of salvation over your eye of hand. The Lord is not recommending removing the members of your body, but putting God first.
E) PRINCIPLES OF FAITHFUL:
Whosoever put away his wife, give her a writing divorcement: A old testament rule. This is not God's perfect plan, but Moses allowed it because of the hardness of their heart.
Put away his wife saving for fornication causes her commit adultery: Jesus allowed fornication as reason for divorce. However, Christians should not get divorced. This topic is very difficult to discuss in these few verses. Marriage is a spiritual commitment which last for as long as the two live. It may also start with the sexual union.
F) PRINCIPLES OF TRUE TO
WORD (VOW):
Shalt not swear thyself, perform thine oaths. Swear not at all:
A Christian's word must be perfect. He must meet his commitments.
Swear not at all; let your communication be Yea, yea; Nay, nay:
The same principles Jesus preached are found in the epistles.
G) PRINCIPLES OF
NON-RESISTANCE (EYE FOR AN EYE):
Principle: non-resistance or not to retaliate.
An eye for eye and a tooth for a tooth: Old testament rules. Love enemies is the New Testament principle to replace the old.
Whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn the other to:
If any man will sue thee at the law, take away thy coat, let him have thy cloak also: Do more. God will provide the replacements.
The person must have a genuine need. He should use his own faith.
H) PRINCIPLES OF LOVE
(LOVE ENEMIES):
Bless them that curse you..persecute you: The same principles Jesus preached in the sermon are found also in the epistles.
Sun to rise on evil & on the good, rain on just & on the unjust:
I) PRINCIPLE OF
IMITATATION (REPRODUCTION):
Be perfect as your Father is perfect: Absolute maturity is perfect.
The scriptures teach levels of perfection. Absolute is fullness.
Be merciful as your Father is merciful: Mercy is not getting punishment we deserve. Grace (getting what we do not deserve) is what God give us.
Merciful: for they shall
obtain mercy: Whole parable in
Likewise God forgave us of all our sins. We should forgive others.
V) KINGDOM PRACTICES:
A) PRINCIPLES OF GIVING:
Do not your alms before men, seen of them, not thy left know right:
Let your gifts be known only to God & He will reward you for them.
B) PRINCIPLES OF PRAYER:
Ye pray, use not vain repetitions, they heard for much speaking:
VI) HOW TO USE YOUR FAITH FOR GOD'S PROMISES: The prayer, of faith, should be made in the name of Jesus. It should be in the will of God. A search of God's word on the subject should be made first. A large number of scriptures show God's promises. See my paper: "Faith" for many of the scriptures which cover most subjects. Since the subject is according to the will of God, we can pray with expectation for an immediate manifestation to result. If it does not we are to hold on to the request in faith. When you pray, your request should be made once for each subject. Any additional requests for the same subject would be made in un-belief. Prayer in the future, on that same subject, should be a praise and thanksgiving prayer for the finish work. Since the first prayer was done in faith, then the work is completed in the faith dimension. When God manifests the work, in this dimension, is in His timing. We are to believe it has been completed already.
A) CORRECT PERSISTENCE IS OK: We can pray thanksgiving for receiving the petition: in faith first and then when God manifests it.
VII) HOW WE SHOULD NOT PRAY:
A) KILL THE ANOINTING: "I don't know if its your will to do this or not." "If it be thy will." Search the scriptures first to understand if it is God's will. We should move/pray in God's will.
B) RELIGIOUS WORKS:
Prayer should not be by the clock. It is not an obligation as required work or
duty. Prayer should not be aimed at others to hear, but it is to be directed to
God. It should be simple conversation with God from our hearts. Jesus prayed one
hour in
C) WRONG MOTIVATION:
Your Father knoweth what things ye need before ye ask him:
D) LORD'S PRAYER:
Our Father: Our true Father. Abba, Father
God is holy as is His name: His Name and Word are God Himself.
Thy kingdom come: We ask God to help us accomplish His kingdom. The kingdom of God tells who runs it; Kingdom of Heaven tells where it is. It always existed with God as King. Jesus is King, within the Christians, of His present Kingdom. Jesus came to bring the kingdom. His second coming will have Him as king for the Millennium.
Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven: God's will is done. We ask God to help us do His will. Prayer is to pray in God's will.
Give us this day our daily bread: God will supply all things to His children.
Forgive us our debts, as we
forgive our debtors: Jesus shows us an example from the parable in
Lead us not into temptation: God does not tempt anyone. God allows Satan to test and tempt us.
Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever:
Additional praise and worship to our God. Our prayers should start Father, in the Jesus name and conclude with: "in Jesus' name", not "in his name." The power and answer is in the name of Jesus.
Amen: This means: Yea, it shall be so.
E) PRINCIPLES OF FORGIVEN:
If ye forgive men, heavenly Father will forgive you:
F) PRINCIPLES OF FASTING:
When thou fast: Fast unto the Lord that He alone knows.
Examples of fasting:
To stand in gap for people:
To learn God's will:
To stand in gap for healing country:
To heal child for parents sin:
To heal someone:
Appear not unto men to fast, but to thy Father which is in secret:
G) PRINCIPLES OF
POSSESSIONS:
Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also: It is a god.
This one scripture does the law and prophets which is the equivalent to the entire Bible (Old Testament was only Bible at this time).
No man can serve two masters, hate one & love other, Ye can't serve God and mammon (money):
H) PRINCIPLES OF
APPREHENSION (WORRY NOT):
Take no thought for your life, eat, drink, your body, put on:
"Take no thought" mention 5 times in
This is important since it is stated 5 times. We are not to worry.
Seek ye the
J) PRINCIPLES OF JUDGING:
Christians can judge sin, not the small issues. My their
fruits you can know them. See
Judge not, that ye be not judged:
Mote in thy brother's eye, not the beam in thine own eye:mote=speck
K) PRINCIPLES OF DISCRETION: 7:6 Principle: Guardian of truth.
Give not holy unto the dogs; cast pearls to swine: Give in accordance to spiritual understanding. Dogs/swine: gentiles/lowly
L) PRINCIPLES OF
ASSURANCE (ASK, SEEK, KNOCK):
Ask, Seek & knock: Diligently seek Him. What is most important?
Ye, being evil give good gifts, much more Father give Holy Spirit:
M) PRINCIPLES OF GOLDEN
RULE:
This one scripture does the law and prophets which is the equivalent to the entire Bible (Old Testament was only Bible at this time).
VIII) KINGDOM PROOFS:
A) PRINCIPLES OF GATES:
Strait gate vs wide gate: Camel had to bend down on knees to go.
B) PRINCIPLES OF DEEDS:
Beware of false prophets: True & False Prophets Tests
- Spoke only in the name of the Lord (Yahweh).
- His life matches his position. He did not practice divination.
- Do not assume signs and wonders prove his position.
- His message was in harmony with previous revelation.
- History will confirms his authenticity.
- Moral quality and spiritual essence of the message.
- Inner witness to the Holy Spirit believer.
Good tree bringeth forth good fruit:
By their fruits ye shall know them:
Judgment of self works: Judge your own: motives, works, words and sins. See my papers: "Judgment of Believer & Un-Believer" and "Christian Growth" for more information on these subjects.
C) PRINCIPLES OF DOING
GOD'S WILL:
Not saith Lord, but he that doeth the will of my Father in heaven:
Many will say, Lord, we prophesied, cast out devils, done works:
They had a works religion, using Jesus's name, not a relationship.
D) PRINCIPLES OF
PERFORMANCE:
Whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them: Jesus is telling us today to be do the word, not just a hear the sermon.
Every one that heareth these sayings on mine and doeth them not:
E) PRINCIPLES OF
AUTHORITY:
People astonish at his doctrine, he taught, as having authority:
Jesus used scripture and not man make laws of tradition.
