RETURN TO THE: BIBLE PAPERS HOME PAGE
This paper discusses love, what it is, its source, & how to use it. Love is
the Christian way of having a relationship with God and man. God is love and
the source of love. Jesus gave us three commandments the first is to love God
with all our heart, mind, might and soul. The second is to love other man as we
love ourselves. The third is to love as Jesus loved. Jesus is our example. Love
is the fulfillment of the law of God. All scriptures are from the King James'
version Bible.
INDUCTIVE COMMENTS:
THEME:
LOVE RESULTS IN CHRISTIAN GROWTH: Love is to grow within a Christian.
1 Thessalonians 3:12
"And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward
another, & toward all <men>, even as we <do> toward
you:" God's goal for the Christians is to increase their love to one
another.
PURPOSE:
LOVE RELATIONSHIPS TO GOD & TO MAN - 1 JOHN 4-5 SCRIPTURES:
1 John 4:7-5:3 "Beloved, let
us love one another: for love is of God; and every
one that loveth is born of God, and
knoweth God. (WE KNOW GOD)
{8} He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. {9}
In this was manifested the love of
God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world,
that we might live through him. (OUR LIFE IS IN JESUS) {10} Herein is
love, not that we loved God, but that he loved
us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. {11} Beloved,
if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. (WE
ARE TO IMITATE GOD'S LOVE) {12} No man hath seen God at any time. If we love
one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love
is perfected in us. {13} Hereby know we that
we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. (WE
HAVE THE INDWELLING HOLY SPIRIT IN US) {14} And we
have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. (WE ARE TO WITNESS) {15} Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, (WE
MAKE THE CONFESSION) God dwelleth in him, and he
in God. {16} And we have known and believed the love
that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth
in God,
and God in him. {17} Herein is our love made perfect, (WE ARE
BEING MADE MATURE) that we may have boldness in the day
of judgment: (WE ARE CONFIDENT) because as he is, so are we in
this world. {18} There is no fear in love; but perfect love
casteth out fear: (WE ARE BOLD) because
fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made
perfect in love. {19} We love
him, because he first loved us. (WE CAN LOVE BECAUSE
HE FIRST LOVED US) {20} If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: (WE
ARE NOT LIARS) for he that loveth not
his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath
not seen? (WE SHOW OUR CHRISTIAN EXAMPLE) {21} And
this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth
God love his brother also. {5:1} Whosoever
believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth
him also that is begotten of him. (WE ARE BORN OF GOD) {5:2} By this we know that we love the children
of God, (WE LOVE OTHERS) when we love God, (WE LOVE
GOD) and keep his commandments. {5:3} For
this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his
commandments are not grievous."
John 15:5 "I am the vine,
ye are the branches: He that abideth in me,
and I in him, the same bringeth forth much
fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." Verse 9: Our life is
centered on Jesus
John 15:16-17 "Ye have
not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye
should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain:
that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. {17}
These things I command you, that ye love one
another." Verse 19: Fruit of love; God chose us for His love, then we
chose Him for our love.

understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so
that I could remove mountains, (OUR WORKS = self centered) and
have not charity, I am nothing. {3} And

But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be

bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray
for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; {46} For if ye
love them which love you, what reward have ye? do
not even the publicans the same?" The Christian is to love as Jesus

Relationship" for
more information on this subject.
1 John 4:7-5:3 "Beloved, let
us love one another: for love is of God; and every
one that loveth is born of God, and
knoweth God. (WE KNOW GOD)
{8} He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. {9}
(WE ARE TO WITNESS) {15} Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, (WE
MAKE THE CONFESSION) God dwelleth in him, and he in
God.
{5:3} For
this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his
commandments are not grievous."

another." Verse 19: Fruit of love; God chose us for His love, then we
