KINGDOM OF GOD & KINGDOM OF HEAVEN
By Dennis Schmidt 1/2007
RETURN TO THE: BIBLE PAPERS HOME PAGE
This paper discusses the Kingdom of Heaven
and Kingdom of God. Jesus main reason for coming to the
earth was to rule His kingdom. The Kingdom
of God and Kingdom
of Heaven parable comparisons are
made. Matthew uses Kingdom of
heaven while the other gospel writers, in similar stories and parables, use Kingdom
of God. Matthew also uses Kingdom
of God several times. All scriptures are from the King James'
version Bible.

IV) KINGDOM OF HEAVEN/GOD PREPARED 1ST FOR JEWS THEN FOR GENTILES:
See my paper: "Restoration
of the Kingdom of God to Israel" for more information on this subject.
Jews versus Gentiles: Their
place in God's Kingdom.
Deuteronomy 7:6 "For thou
<art> an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the
LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above
all people that <are> upon the face of the earth."
A) RIGHTEOUS VERSUS
UN-RIGHTEOUS JEW:
See my paper: "Israel
& Jewish People in God's Plan" for more information on this subject.
1 Samuel 8:7 "And the
LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that
they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have
rejected me, that I should not reign over them."
God rejected as king over Israel
by his people.
Luke 13:28 "There shall be
weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and
Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you
<yourselves> thrust out." Gentiles hope

with the finger of God cast out devils, no doubt the kingdom of God is
come upon you."
C) DISCIPLE'S MINISTRY:

them to preach the kingdom
of God, and to heal
the sick." Proof of king's, Jesus power, is healing ministry.
Luke 10:9 "And heal the
sick that are therein, and say unto them, The
kingdom of God
is come nigh unto you."
VI) ENTERING THE KINGDOM:
A) A CHRISTIAN MUST BE
MORE RIGHTEOUS; NO ONE ENTERS KINGDOM BY LAW:
See my paper: "True Gospel
for Salvation by the Imputed Righteousness of Jesus" for more information on this subject.
Only faith in Christ's righteousness can Christians fulfil
the law.
Matthew 5:19-20 "Whosoever
therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so,
he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever
shall do and teach <them>, the same shall be called great in the kingdom
of heaven. {20} For I say unto you, That except
your righteousness shall exceed <the righteousness> of the scribes and
Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of
heaven."
B) KINGDOM OF GOD IS RESERVED FOR THOSE WITH CHILD'S LIKE
FAITH:
The same statement in Matthew (kingdom of heaven) is in Mark and Luke (kingdom
of God). The two statements are
interchangeable.
Matthew 19:14
"But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto
me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven."
Luke 18:16-17 "But Jesus
called them <unto him>, and said, Suffer little
children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom
of God. {17} Verily I
say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom
of God as a little child
shall in no wise enter therein." See also Matthew 18:1-4
and Mark 10:14-15
C) REVELATION OF THE
KINGDOM IS GIVEN TO ELECTED & CHOSEN ONES ONLY:
God selects those He grants entrance to His kingdom.
See my paper: "Is Free
Will Biblical" for
more information on this subject.
See my paper: "Some Saved
& Some Lost God's Sovereignty" for more information on this subject.
Matthew 13:11
"He answered and said unto them, Because it is
given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to
them it is not given." The same passage in Luke is of "God".
Luke 8:10
"And he said, Unto you it is given to know the
mysteries of the kingdom
of God: but to others
in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they
might not understand."
D) GOD'S WAY INTO HIS
KINGDOM IS BY HIS SUPER-NATURAL NEW RE-BIRTH:
Faith in Jesus sacrifice & resurrection for our sin is entrance.
See my paper: "What is a
Born-Again & How to Become One?" for more information on this subject.
John 3:3 "Jesus answered
and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except
a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom
of God."
John 3:5 "Jesus answered,
Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a
man be born of water and <of> the Spirit, he cannot enter into
the kingdom of God."
Romans 10:9-10 "That if
thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in
thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
{10} For with the heart man believeth unto
righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
VII) THE SERMON ON THE
MOUNT IS KINGDOM LIFE:
See my paper: "Sermon on
the Mount" for more
information on this subject.
Kingdom mention nine times in the sermon showing its
importance.

Comings as King" for

as <it is> in heaven." God already has His kingdom in heaven.

of God, and his
righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

time the kingdom of God
is preached, and every man presseth into
it." Also seen in Matthew 11:12 -

Matthew 21:42-43 "Jesus
saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The
stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the
corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous
in our eyes? {43} Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom
of God shall be taken
from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof."
Jesus is the corner stone Jews rejected.
D) THE PARABLE OF TEN
VIRGINS - KINGDOM IS FOR THOSE PREPARED FOR GOD:
Matthew 25:1-3 "Then shall
the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took
their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. {2} And five of them were wise, and five <were>
foolish. {3} They that <were> foolish
took their lamps, and took no oil with them:" Jesus is teaching
preparation for His 2nd coming.
E) DIFFICULTY OF ENTERING
AND CONTINUING IN THE KINGDOM:
Matthew 19:23
"Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of
heaven." Priority on wealth instead of on God limits entrance.
Mark 9:47
"And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better
for thee to enter into the kingdom
of God with one eye,
than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:" Hell or kingdom.
Jesus is teaching important of choice not to remove a body member.
Luke 9:60 "Jesus said
unto him, Let the dead bury their dead:
but go thou and preach the kingdom
of God." Importance of choice.
Luke 9:62 "And Jesus
said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plow, and
looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God." Doer of God's
word & growth in his Christian walk is looking forward.

be damned. {17} And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my
name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
{18} They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing,
it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they
shall recover."
