ONE IN CHRIST

This paper discusses what it means to be "One In Christ". Each scripture used, mention "with/in: Christ, Lord, Jesus, Him, me, His etc." All scriptures are from the King James' version Bible.

INDUCTIVE COMMENTS:

THEME: The Christian is one with God in Christ. He is united within Jesus in the Godhead. Just like what Jesus did and who He is, so is the Christian. Jesus is his life which includes Jesus works & thoughts.

Acts 17:28 "For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring." The Christian is united with Jesus for his existence.

Colossians 3:3-4 "For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. {4} When Christ, <who is> our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory."

PURPOSE: The Christians life is in a Godly reign. God makes the Christian to walk in a newer higher plane.

Ephesians 1:3 "Blessed <be> the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly <places> in Christ:" Concentration on Godly spirit things.

Ephesians 2:6 "And hath raised <us> up together, & made <us> sit together in heavenly <places> in Christ Jesus:" Heavenly not earthly

Ephesians 1:10 "That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; <even> in him:"

1 Thessalonians 4:16 "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:" Rapture

1 John 5:11 "And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son."

KEY VERSE: The Christian is one with God in Christ. He is united within Jesus in the Godhead. Just like what Jesus did and who He is, so is the Christian. Jesus is his life which includes Jesus works & thoughts.

TO WHOM: Elected Christians

WHAT: The Christians life is in a Godly reign. God makes the Christian to walk in a newer higher plane.

WHY: United with God into a qualitative oneness just as Jesus & God.

John 14:20 "At that day ye shall know that I <am> in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you." Each are one in the same.

Romans 12:5 "So we, <being> many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another." Family of believers in Christ.

Galatians 3:28 "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus." Everyone is equal within Christ.

Ephesians 3:6 "That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel:" Jews were only ones in kingdom until Cornelius in Acts 10.

WAY: Jesus purchased or redeemed the Christians back from Satan who usurped them.

Romans 3:24 "Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:" Redemption means purchased.

Romans 8:1 "<There is> therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." No condemnation but God's acceptance.

1 Corinthians 1:30 "But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:" In Christ the Christians processes all these.

2 Timothy 2:10 "Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory." Christians will live with Jesus forever.

WHEREAS: God has planned the end from the beginning for His good.

Ephesians 3:11 "According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:"

1 Thessalonians 5:18 "In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."God will win & we also.

2 Timothy 1:1 "Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,"

2 Timothy 1:9 "Who hath saved us, and called <us> with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,"

WHERE: Earth

WHEN: All Times

WHILE: A person born of natural flesh is dead unto God. God makes us live.

Romans 8:2 "For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death." God changed us.

1 Corinthians 15:22 "For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive." Alive unto God's ways & purposes.

2 Timothy 1:1 "Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,"

WANTS: The Christian wants to grow to know Jesus in all His fulness. A mature Christian adopted into the family with all legal rights.

Ephesians 4:12-13 "For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: {13} Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:" This is a fully growing Christian.

Galatians 3:26 "For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus." God is our Father and we are His children.

II) STEPS TO ONENESS IN CHRIST:

This is an order of events the Christian should go through.

A) RECONCILED BACK TO GOD:

God reestablished with the Christian His fellowship by Jesus blood.

2 Corinthians 5:19 "To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation." Reconciled means to re-establish relationship resolving the sin issue.

Ephesians 2:13 "But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ." God has drawn us near.

B) REDEMPTION:

Jesus purchased the Christians back from Satan who usurped them.

1 Corinthians 4:15 "For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet <have ye> not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel." Begotten means born again.

2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore if any man <be> in Christ, <he is> a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." Made new unto God for His purpose.

Galatians 6:15 "For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature."

D) BAPTISM:

Public identification with Jesus as his savior, Lord, king & God.

Colossians 2:12-13 "Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with <him> through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. {13} And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;"

E) DEAD:

The Christian's life is replaced with Jesus life and His wishes.

F) RISEN:

A Christian is resurrected from his dead works into Christ's life.

Colossians 3:1 "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God." Seek to do what Christ would do if He was on earth in now.

G) ALIVE:

H) SANCTIFIED:

This Christian is set apart, consecrated, dedicated for a special purpose and function or use by God. A derived meaning is that the person has become holy and pure. Sanctified is what the believer is, and perfected is what the believer is to become.

1 Corinthians 1:2 "Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called <to be> saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:"Saints are set apart for God's purpose.

Galatians 2:4 "And that because of false brethren unawares brought in, who came in privily to spy out our liberty which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage:" Free

I) ONE BODY:

United with God into a qualitative oneness just as Jesus & God.

A) CHILD/SON OF GOD:

A mature Christian adopted into the family with all legal rights.

B) GROWTH:

VI) BABY CHRISTIANS NEEDS TO GROW:

God's word and leadership are used to encourage Christian growth.

1 Corinthians 3:1 "And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, <even> as unto babes in Christ." The flesh has limited the Christian from maturing.

Colossians 1:28 "Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:"

2 Timothy 3:15 "And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus."

VII) DEVELOP INTO A MATURE CHRISTIAN:

Seek the Lord, be obedience to His word & lead & God will respond.

1 Corinthians 4:10 "We <are> fools for Christ's sake, but ye <are> wise in Christ; we <are> weak, but ye <are> strong; ye <are> honourable, but we <are> despised."

Philippians 3:14 "I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." The Christians goal.

A) KEPT:

God will keep His children in His family no-matter-what-may-come.

Romans 8:39 "Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." God loves the Christian because he is in Christ.

2 Corinthians 1:20-21 "For all the promises of God in him <are> yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us. {21} Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, <is> God;"

B) PREDESTINED (GOD'S PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE):

God has planned the end from the beginning for His good.

God gives His children jobs. Let Him guide you in all your ways.

Ephesians 2:10 "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them." God selects the works for His servants.

Colossians 1:4 "Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love <which ye have> to all the saints,"

D) PERSECUTION:

The Christian is not of this world. Expect the world to hate you.

2 Timothy 3:12 "Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution." If we suffer for Christ we glory in Him.

E) COMFORT:

God will confort you in all your problems.

Philippians 2:1 "If <there be> therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,"

F) MATURE TO HAVE THE MIND OF CHRIST:

Expect that God will guide you. His perfect will will be done.

Philippians 2:5 "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:" Humble yourselve unto God, and He will bless you.

G) TRIUMPH:

Jesus already won. We are just cleaning up the last of the evil.

2 Corinthians 2:14 "Now thanks <be> unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place."
