INDUCTIVE COMMENTS:

THEME: The Holy Spirit Baptism is God's power to minister to others in a super-natural way.

Mark 16:15-18 "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. {16} He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. {17} And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; {18} They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

PURPOSE:

This is God's teachers on the purpose of the Holy Spirit Baptism for the church (the body of Christ on Earth) and its ministries. Included is a gift of tongues (not the same tongues we get at Baptism of Holy Spirit, but as ministry to body at church.)

1 Corinthians 12:4-11 "Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. {5} And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord. {6} And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all. {7} But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. {8} For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; {9} To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; {10} To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another <divers> kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: {11} But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will."

Acts 8:5,12,14-17 "Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them. {12} But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women. {14} Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: {15} Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: {16} (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.) {17} Then laid they <their> hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost."

TO WHOM: Elected Christians

WHAT: The scriptures show that there are difference times in which we receive the Holy Spirit: First when we are born again for eternal life. A second experience is subsequent to salvation, when we are baptized in the Holy Spirit. These are two of the times. WAY:

Repent but you do not need to do other things to clean up our lives. The blood of Jesus cleanses us.

1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us <our> sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Luke 11:9, 11, 13 "And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. {11} If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if <he ask> a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? {13} If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall <your> heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?"

The Holy Spirit will move our vocal chords and put supernatural words on our lips. The Holy Spirit gives the utterance, but man does the speaking.

Acts 2:4 "And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."

Some people are concern that it will be their flesh. It is in the flesh that we worship and praise God in the Spirit. We are to open our months and move our lips and speak any sound it seems easy to speak, whatever it is. Have faith that God will use our members to utter his words.

Joel 2:28 "And it shall come to pass afterward, <that> I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:"

John 7:38-39 "He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. {39} (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet <given>; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)"

WHEREAS:

Acts 1:8 "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."

2 Timothy 1:6-7 "Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. {7} For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind."

Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a gift from Jesus & the Father to us.

1 Corinthians 1:7 "So that ye come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:"

Gifts are received without any work from our side. God is waiting for people to receive his gifts. If I offered you a gift, what would you have to do to get it? Just receive it.

Acts 19:12 "So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the evil spirits went out of them."

XII) POWER TO LAY ON HAND FOR MINISTRY:

Acts 13:2-4 "As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them. {3} And when they had fasted and prayed, and laid their hands on them, they sent them away. {4} So they, being sent forth by the Holy Ghost, departed unto Seleucia; and from thence they sailed to Cyprus."

XIII) POWER TO BRING BACK PERSON FROM DEAD:

Acts 20:9-12 "And there sat in a window a certain young man named Eutychus, being fallen into a deep sleep: and as Paul was long preaching, he sunk down with sleep, and fell down from the third loft, and was taken up dead. {10} And Paul went down, and fell on him, and embracing him said, Trouble not yourselves; for his life is in him. {11} When he therefore was come up again, and had broken bread, and eaten, and talked a long while, even till break of day, so he departed. {12} And they brought the young man alive, and were not a little comforted."

XIV) WHERE THE HOLY SPIRIT BAPTISM IS TAUGHT IN SCRIPTURES:

The first Holy Spirit baptism event fulfilled Jesus command:

Acts 1:4-5 "And, being assembled together with <them>, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, <saith he>, ye have heard of me. {5} For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence."

Acts 2:1-4 "And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. {2} And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. {3} And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. {4} And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance."

XVI) THE SUBJECT OF TONGUES:

Acts 2:8,11 "And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? {11} Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God." Tongues are part of the Holy Spirit baptism at Pentecost for preaching to foreigners.

Acts 2:16-17 "But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel; {17} And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:" This fulfilled Joel's prophesy.

Genesis 11:1,4-9 "And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech. {4} And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top <may reach> unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. {5} And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded. {6} And the LORD said, Behold, the people <is> one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. {7} Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech. {8} So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city. {9} Therefore is the name of it called Babel; because the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth." God started many languages to restrain people from "doing any kind of evil". God restores foreign languages, to his people, to proclaim his word and do many kinds of good.

XVII) TONGUES FOR SELF EDIFICATION:

God gives Christian's gifts to minister to his body of Christ. He also give gifts to minister to the Christian for his own edification, giving thanks, joyful heart, and prayer.

1 Corinthians 14:2-6 "For he that speaketh in an <unknown> tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth <him>; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries. {3} But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men <to> edification, and exhortation, and comfort. {4} He that speaketh in an <unknown> tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church. {5} I would that ye all spake with tongues, but rather that ye prophesied: for greater <is> he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying. {6} Now, brethren, if I come unto you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you, except I shall speak to you either by revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying, or by doctrine?"

1 Corinthians 14:13-15 "Wherefore let him that speaketh in an <unknown> tongue pray that he may interpret. {14} For if I pray in an <unknown> tongue, my spirit prayeth, but my understanding is unfruitful. {15} What is it then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also."

Ephesians 5:18-20 "And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; {19} Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; {20} Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;"

Ephesians 6:18 "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;"
