INDUCTIVE BIBLE TOPIC STUDY
FAITH
By Dennis Schmidt 3/2007
RETURN TO THE: BIBLE PAPERS HOME PAGE
This paper discusses faith and some of the things God gives us through faith.
There are over 7000 promises in the Bible and we can have them all if we meet God's
conditions. All scriptures are from the King James' version Bible.
INDUCTIVE COMMENTS:
THEME:
Faith is a gift from God to men. We need faith to please God and to
receive God’s promises.
Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by
grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: <it
is> the gift of God: {9} Not of works, lest any man should
boast." Grace is un-merited gift from God to us.
PURPOSE: To
please God and to receive the promises of God.
Hebrews 11:6 "But without
faith <it is> impossible to please <him>: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is,
and <that> he is a rewarder of them that
diligently seek him." God wants us to live/walk a life of faith in
every area (health, needs family, desires, eating, etc) of our lives.
Hebrews 10:23
"Let us hold fast the profession of <our> faith without wavering;
(for he <is> faithful that promised;)"
KEY VERSE: God is
faithful and wants men to be faithful also.
Hebrews 10:23
"Let us hold fast the profession of <our> faith without wavering;
(for he <is> faithful that promised;)"
WHO: God
mainly by Bible authors David, Isaiah, Matthew, John, and Paul
TO WHOM:
Elected Christians
WHAT: The
prayer, of faith, should be made in the name of Jesus. It should be in the will
of God. A search of God's word on the subject should be made first. A large
number of scriptures have been presented which cover most subjects. Since the
subject is according to the will of God, we can pray with expectation for an
immediate manifestation to result. If it does not we are to hold on to the
request in faith. When you pray, your request should be made once for each subject.
Any additional requests for the same subject would be made in un-belief. Prayer
in the future, on that same subject, should be a praise and thanksgiving prayer
for the finish work. Since the first prayer was done in faith, then the work is
completed in the faith dimension. When God manifests the work, in this
dimension, is in His timing. We are to believe it has been completed already.
Hebrews 1:3 "Who
<Jesus> being the brightness of <his/Father's> glory,
and the express image of his person <substance>..." Just as
Jesus is real (He exists & His disciples touched Him (1 John
1:1), so faith (the same greek word for substance) exist and is real.
Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith
is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things
not seen." Faith is not the same as hope. Hope is wishing for something.
Faith is having it in a faith dimension.
When God reveals (manifests) it to this dimension is up to Him.
WHY:
The way to please God is through faith.
Just shall live by faith (4) : Hab.2:4, Rom.1:17, Gal.3:11, Heb.10:38
Hebrews 10:38
"Now the just shall live by faith: but if <any man> draw
back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him."
Romans 14:23
"And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because <he eateth>
not of faith: for whatsoever <is> not of faith is sin."
WAY:

Jesus was whipped before going to the cross for our sicknesses and diseases.
His death on the cross was for our sins. Matthew
8:17 shows that Jesus healing all the sick was to fulfill Isaiah 53 the
atonement chapter. Therefore, healing is included in the atonement.
Matthew 8:16-17 "When the
even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he
cast out the spirits with <his> word, and healed all that were
sick: {17} That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our
infirmities, and bare <our> sicknesses." See Isaiah
53:4-5 to show faith for healing is in the atonement.
Isaiah 53:4-5 "Surely he
hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows:
yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. {5} But he <was> wounded for our transgressions,
<he was> bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace
<was> upon him; and with his stripes we are healed." Faith is in the atonement to heal.
1 Peter 2:24
"Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that
we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye
were healed."
3 John 1:2 "Beloved, I
wish above all things that thou mayest prosper
and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth."
WHEREAS: Faith for meeting
our needs and desires.
God promises include conditions on our part. Just as we would not give a
child a gun, even if he wants it, God will do only what is good for us. We are
to study God's word to find the conditions. Often our conditions are in the
same scriptures as the promise.
Matthew 6:33
"But seek ye first the kingdom
of God, and his
righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
The condition, in this scripture, is to first seek God's kingdom.
Matthew 7:7 "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek,
and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:"
Matthew 7:11 "If ye then,
being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more
shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?"
Matthew 18:18-19 "Verily I
say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on
earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth
shall be loosed in heaven. {19} Again I say unto you, That if two of you
shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall
be done for them of my Father which in heaven."
Matthew 21:22
"And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing,
ye shall receive."
Mark 11:24
"Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that
ye receive <them>, and ye shall have <them>."
John 14:13-14 "And whatsoever
ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be
glorified in the Son. {14} If ye shall ask
any thing in my name, I will do <it>."
John 15:7 "If ye abide
in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will,
and it shall be done unto you."
John 15:16
"Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained
you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and <that> your
fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name,
he may give it you."
John 16:23-24 "And in that
day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever
ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give <it> you.
{24} Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall
receive, that your joy may be full."
1 John 3:21-22 "Beloved, if
our heart condemn us not, <then> have we
confidence toward God. {22} And whatsoever we ask,
we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do
those things that are pleasing in his sight."
1 John 5:14-15 "And this
is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing
according to his will, he heareth us: {15}
And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know
that we have the petitions that we desired of him."

I) WHAT IS FAITH?:
Hebrews 1:3 "Who
<Jesus> being the brightness of <his/Father's> glory,
and the express image of his person <substance>..." Just as
Jesus is real (He exists & His disciples touched Him (1 John
1:1), so faith (the same greek word for substance) exist and is real.
Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith
is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things
not seen." Faith is not the same as hope. Hope is wishing for something.
Faith is having it in a faith dimension.
When God reveals (manifests) it to this dimension is up to Him.
II) FAITH - THE WAY TO
PLEASE GOD:
Hebrews 11:6 "But without
faith <it is> impossible to please <him>: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is,
and <that> he is a rewarder of them that
diligently seek him." God wants us to live/walk a life of faith in
every area (health, needs family, desires, eating, etc) of our lives.
Just shall live by faith (4):
Hab.2:4, Rom.1:17, Gal.3:11, Heb.10:38
Hebrews 10:38 "Now the just
shall live by faith: but if <any man> draw back, my soul
shall have no pleasure in him."
Romans 14:23
"And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because <he eateth>
not of faith: for whatsoever <is> not of faith is sin."
III) SOURCE OF FAITH:
Romans 12:3 "For I say, through
the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think <of
himself> more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according
as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith." God is source
of faith.
Romans 10:17 "So then faith <cometh> by hearing, and hearing
by the word of God." Increased faith by hearing the Word of
God=Bible.
Isaiah 55:11 "So shall my
word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall
not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please,
and it shall prosper <in the thing> whereto I sent it." God's word
(not man's) is to be read, heard, & studied.
2 Timothy 2:15 "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman
that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing
the word of truth." We are to study His word (Bible) to know
faith conditions.
2 Timothy 3:16
"All scripture <is> given by inspiration of God, and
<is> profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for
instruction in righteousness:" Study to do, by faith, right things.

Romans 10:9-10 "That if
thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in
thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
{10} For with the heart man believeth unto
righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."
Believe = faith = trust in God & He will respond.
Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by
grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: <it
is> the gift of God: {9} Not of works, lest any man should
boast." Grace is un-merited gift from God to us.
VI) FAITH FOR MEETING OUR
NEEDS AND DESIRES:
1 John 5:14-15 "And this
is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing
according to his will, he heareth us: {15}
And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know
that we have the petitions that we desired of him."
VII) FAITH FOR HEALING:
Jesus was whipped before going to the cross for our sicknesses and diseases.
His death on the cross was for our sins. Matthew
8:17 shows that Jesus healing all the sick was to fulfill Isaiah 53 the
atonement chapter. Therefore, healing is included in the atonement.
See my paper: "Prayer" for more information on this subject.
Matthew 8:16-17 "When the
even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he
cast out the spirits with <his> word, and healed all that were
sick: {17} That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our
infirmities, and bare <our> sicknesses."
<was> upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."
Exodus 23:22,25 "But if
thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I
will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.
{25} And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he
shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the
midst of thee."
Psalms 103:3 "Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;"
Psalms 107:20 "He sent
his word, and healed them, and delivered <them> from their
destructions."
Psalms 118:17 "I shall
not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD."
Proverbs 4:20-22 "My son,
attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. {21} Let them not
depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. {22} For they <are> life unto those that find them, and
health to all their flesh."
James 5:14-15 "Is any
sick among you? let him call for the
elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him
with oil in the name of the Lord: {15} And the prayer of faith shall
save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed
sins, they shall be forgiven him."
VIII) FAITH FOR HOLY
SPIRIT AND POWER:
See my paper: "Godhead
Relationship" for
more information on this subject.
Luke 11:9-13 "And I say
unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye
shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. {10} For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh
it shall be opened. {11} If a son shall ask
bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if <he ask> a fish, will he for a fish give him a
serpent? {12} Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer
him a scorpion? {13} If ye then, being
evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much
more shall <your> heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask
him?"
IX) FAITH FOR PROSPERITY:
God will bless his children with abundant life (John 10:10).
Joshua 1:8 "This book of
the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate
therein day and night, that thou mayest observe
to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make
thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success."
Psalms 1:2-3 "But his
delight <is> in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he
meditate day and night. {3} And he shall be like a
tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth
forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever
he doeth shall prosper."
Psalms 35:27 "Let them
shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous
cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which
hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant."
Psalms 112:1-3 "Praise ye
the LORD. Blessed <is> the man <that> feareth
the LORD, <that> delighteth
greatly in his commandments. {2} His seed shall be mighty upon earth:
the generation of the upright shall be blessed. {3} Wealth and riches
<shall be> in his house: and his righteousness endureth
for ever."
Mark 10:29-30 "And Jesus
answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left
house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother,
or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and
the gospel's, {30} But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time,
houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and
children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the
world to come eternal life."
Philippians 4:19 "But my
God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus."
3 John 1:2 "Beloved, I
wish above all things that thou mayest prosper
and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth."
X) CONDITIONS FOR
RECEIVING GOD'S PROMISES OF FAITH:
See my paper: "Justification"
for more information on
this subject.
See my paper: "Man's Greaest Need - Relationship with God" for more information on this subject.
Isaiah 1:19 "If ye be
willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:"
James 4:3 "Ye ask,
and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume
<it> upon your lusts."
XI) HOW TO USE YOUR FAITH
FOR GOD'S PROMISES:
The prayer, of faith, should be made in the name of Jesus. It should be in
the will of God. A search of God's word on the subject should be made first. A
large number of scriptures have been presented which cover most subjects. Since
the subject is according to the will of God, we can pray with expectation for
an immediate manifestation to result.
