RETURN TO THE: BIBLE PAPERS HOME PAGE

This paper discusses the remission & forgiveness of sins scriptures.  All scriptures are from the King James' version Bible.

INDUCTIVE COMMENTS:

THEME:  The Christian is to follow God’s example of forgiveness of sins to others.

Matthew 18:21 "Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times? {22} Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven." We & God always forgive.

Acts 13:38 "Be it known unto you therefore, men <and> brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: {39} And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses."

PURPOSE: Concentration on learning about & allowing Jesus to change you (God-centered), or concentration on oneself on how to stop sinning & trying to live the Christian life (self-centered).

Matthew 22:37-40 "Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. {38} This is the first and great commandment. {39} And the second <is> like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. {40} On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

John 13:34 "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another."

KEY VERSE:  God imputes His righteousness and blessing to the elected Christian.

Romans 4:6-8 "Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works, {7} <Saying>, Blessed <are> they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. {8} Blessed <is> the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin." God imputes forgiveness to whom He loves.

John 15:5 "I am the vine, ye <are> the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." God will select our work.

WHO:  God written mostly by Bible authors Matthew, Luke, John, and Paul

Place Jesus first, not in most time, but through quality time. Focus on Jesus to know Him.

John 15:5 "I am the vine, ye <are> the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." God will select our work.

Revelation 2:2-4 "I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars: {3} And hast borne, and hast patience, and for my name's sake hast laboured, and hast not fainted. {4} Nevertheless I have <somewhat> against thee, because thou hast left thy first love."

WHY: Forgiveness, remission, and repentance for our sin is given to the Christian through Jesus completed work.

Luke 24:47 "And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem."

Acts 10:43 "To him give all the prophets witness, that through his name whosoever believeth in him shall receive remission of sins." This is God's promise that through Jesus is sin remission.

Ephesians 1:7 "In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;" Colossians 1:14

WHEREAS: God loves His children. If they sin He will forgive them.

By the man's faith, Jesus healed & forgave him his sin.

II) HOW DOES GOD DEAL WITH SIN IN THE CHRISTIAN:

A) IF GOD TELL US TO FORGIVE OTHERS, HE CERTAINLY WILL DO THE SAME:

God loves His children. If they sin He will forgive them.

B) GOD'S PROMISE TO HIS CHILDREN WHO ASK FOR FORGIVENESS OF THEIR SIN:

1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us <our> sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

If sins continue are increase and the Christian does not mature:

See my paper: "Christian Growth" for more information on this subject.

See my paper: "Preservation and Perseverance of the Elect" for more information on this subject.

God will always work with His children to restore them to Himself.

C) SICKNESS & HEALING:

III) WHAT IS MOST IMPORTANT FOR GOD'S FORGIVENESS IS TO BE GOD-CENTERED:

A person is to concentrate on learning about and allowing Jesus to change you (God-centered), or concentrate on oneself on how to stop sinning, or trying to live the Christian life (self-centered).

IV) GOD'S LOVE COMMANDMENTS;CHRISTIANS ARE NOT UNDER LAW BUT PRINCIPLES

See my paper: "Love" for more information on this subject.

See my paper: "What Does God Really Want?" for more information on this subject.

See my paper: "Questions and Answers for Law, Faith, & Liberty" for more information on this subject.

A) HOW TO KEEP ALL OF GOD'S LAWS:

See my paper: "Imputed/Reckoned/Counted Righteousness of Jesus" for more information on this subject.

Romans 13:10 "Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love <is> the fulfilling of the law." Christians are under scripture principles to love not laws (a set of do's & do not's).

First love is Jesus. They did many good works, but lacked. Serve the Lord means allowing Him to be Lord over your life, and He will direct you as to what to do and which path to follow.
