I) INTRODUCTION: (POWER OF SALVATION) {ROMANS 1:1-1:15}

WHO: PAUL, AN APOSTLE

Romans 1:1 "Paul, a servant of M Jesus M T Christ T, [ called ] <to be> an apostle, separated unto the [ gospel ] of /\ God /\,"

Paul (Saul): Saul means asked for and Paul means little or small. Paul had plenty & little (Philippians 4:12). Paul's conversion (Acts 9:1-22). He was the apostle to the gentiles (Acts 9:15-16/Galatians 2:8). His apostleship care was always for the church (Romans 8:36), but he was many times challenged as an apostle (1 Corinthians 9:1-5). He made four missionary trips (Acts 13:2-14:28; 15:40-18:23; 18:23-21:17; 1 Timothy 1:3/Titus 1:3/Philemon 22) & started several churches. Paul was taken to Rome as a prisoner & was later released. Paul again became a prisoner in Rome & was martyred for his faith in Jesus. Paul wrote 14 books (Romans to Hebrews) of the 27 books in the New Testament. Peter called them scripture (2 Peter 3:15-16).

Called to be an apostle:

See my paper: "Apostles" for more information on this subject.

Apostle: An Apostle is one sent by God, with power of attorney and authority, to act (with power) in place of sender. He was chosen and ordained to the position to be a witness of what God shows him. Apostles started many churches and appointed Elders to the church.

Acts 14:23 "And when they had ordained them elders in every church, and had prayed with fasting, they commended them to the Lord, on whom they believed."

1 Corinthians 9:1-2 "Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord? {2} If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord."

2 Corinthians 12:12 "Truly the signs of an apostle were wrought among you in all patience, in signs, and wonders, and mighty deeds."

Galatians 2:8 "(For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)"

Separated:

See my paper: "Church Officers & their Qualifications" for more information on this subject.

The term means the same as sanctification or to be set apart, consecrated, dedicated and separated for a special purpose, function or use. A derived (not scriptural) meaning is to be holy and pure. In the Old Testament the word holy was used with prostitutes as set apart for evil. Sanctified is what a believer is now; perfected is what a believer is to become.

Acts 9:15 "But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:" Paul chosen for gentile ministry

Gospel of God: Good news of Jesus life and ministry including dying & His resurrection for our sins. The believer can receive eternal life & enter His kingdom by Jesus faith giving to the believer. The gospel grows in a believer by God's righteousness giving the Holy Spirit baptism, obedient, blessings, & Holy of Holies experiences.

See my paper: "True Gospel for Salvation by the Imputed Righteousness of Jesus" for more information on this subject.

Colossians 1:5 "For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;"

Romans 1:2 "(Which /\ he /\ had promised afore by /\ his /\ prophets in the holy scriptures,)" Holy Scriptures = Old Testament.

See my paper: "Jesus in the Old Testament" for more information on this subject.

See my paper: "Jesus as Prophet, Priest, & King" for more information on this subject.

Prophet: A spokesman for another, as for God. Other names/titles in the Bible are as follows: Man of God; Servant of the Lord; Messenger of the Lord; and Seer (to see).

Exodus 7:1-2 "And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet. {2} Thou shalt speak all that I command thee: and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he send the children of Israel out of his land."

Numbers 11:29 "And Moses said unto him, Enviest thou for my sake? would God that all the LORD'S people were prophets, <and> that the LORD would put his spirit upon them!"

Jeremiah 1:7 "But the LORD said unto me, Say not, I <am> a child: for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak."

Amos 3:7-8 "Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets. {8} The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord GOD hath spoken, who can but prophesy?"

1 Samuel 9:9 "(Beforetime in Israel, when a man went to inquire of God, thus he spake, Come, and let us go to the seer: for <he that is> now <called> a Prophet was beforetime called a Seer.)"

1 Corinthians 12:28 "And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healing, helps, governments, diversities of tongues."

TRUE & FALSE PROPHETS TESTS:

- Spoke only in the name of the Lord (Yahweh).

- His life matches his position. He did not practice divination.

- Do not assume signs and wonders prove his position.

Deuteronomy 13:1-3 "If there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, {2} And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, saying, Let us go after other gods, which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; {3} Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams: for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul."

2 Thessalonians 2:9 "<Even him>, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,"

- His message was in harmony with previous revelation. History will confirms his authenticity.

Deuteronomy 18:21-22 "And if thou say in thine heart, How shall we know the word which the LORD hath not spoken? {22} When a prophet speaketh in the name of the LORD, if the thing follow not, nor come to pass, that <is> the thing which the LORD hath not spoken, <but> the prophet hath spoken it presumptuously: thou shalt not be afraid of him."

- Moral quality and spiritual essence of the message.

- Inner witness to the Holy Spirit believer.

- Test the prophets revelation against what the Bible states.

1 Corinthians 14:29 "Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge."

Holy Scriptures:

See my paper: "God's Word/Bible/Scriptures" for more information on this subject.

See my paper: "Bible Study & Interpretation Guideline" for more information on this subject.

God's word is above that of His name:

Psalms 138:2 "I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name." God's words is important.

Word of God is Jesus (God's name) who is in every Scriptures:

Isaiah 55:11 "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it." The Bible, scriptures, are God's words.

Psalms 40:7 "Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book <it is> written of me," (fulfilled see Hebrews 10:7) The Bible is centered on Jesus (God) before & after He is manifested in flesh.

John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Jesus is God & the Word of God.

SCRIPTURES PURPOSES:

Word of God starts Christians in new life:

1 Peter 1:23 "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever." The word of God brings people to the new life.

Word is to Teach:

2 Timothy 3:16 "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:"

2 Peter 1:20-21 "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. {21} For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."

Teaching help's the Christian to Grow:

1 Peter 2:2 "As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:"

Word cleans & purifies:

Hebrews 4:12 "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

WORD OF GOD AS THE WRITTEN BIBLE:

Word is written in the Old Testament book:

Jeremiah 30:1-2 "The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying, {2} Thus speaketh the LORD God of Israel, saying, Write thee all the words that I have spoken unto thee in a book."

Word is written in the New Testament book:

1 Thessalonians 2:13 "For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe." The apostles wrote & spoke the word of God about Jesus.

Acts 17:10-11 "And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. {11} These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so." Berean's searched the Old Testament to verify New Testament.

2 Peter 3:15-16 "And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; {16} As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction." Paul's New Testament epistles are scriptures.

WHAT: CONCERNING JESUS CHRIST

Jesus Christ our Lord: Jesus (Greek), Joshua (Hebrew) means: Jehovah (LORD) is salvation. Christ (Greek), Messiah (Hebrew) means: anointed one. God's appointed servant for a special task. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CONTRASTS: {ROMANS 1:7} GRACE & MERCY - RESULTING IN GOD'S PEACE

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

GRACE -> UN-MERIT FLAVOR FROM GOD -> GETTING WHAT WE DO NOT DESERVE

MERCY -> NO PUNISHMENT -> NOT GETTING WHAT WE DESERVE

PEACE -> REST & ASSURANCE, IN THE LORD, THAT GOD HAS EVERYTHING UNDER CONTROL

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

TO WHOM: THE CHURCH IN ROME - SAINTS

Romans 1:7 "To all that be in Rome, beloved of /\ God /\, [ called ] <to be> [ saints ] : [ Grace ] to you and peace from /\ God /\ our /\ Father /\, and the /\ Lord /\ M Jesus M T Christ T."

Rome: The capital of empire where Caesar ruled. Located in Italy. Paul had not visit Rome, but he wanted to (Romans 1:11-13) & did.

Saints: Sanctified one: saved, set apart, consecrated, dedicated. Separated by God for His special function, use, and purpose. All Christians are saints. See my notes for separated in Romans 1:1 above.

Psalms 50:5 "Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice."

Hebrews 10:10 "By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once <for all>."

Mercy: Not getting what we deserve & is not earned. This compares with grace getting what we do not deserve & which is not earned.

Titus 3:5 "Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;"

Grace: Unmerited flavor from God. Getting what we do not deserve.

See my paper: " Grace" for more information on this subject.

IT IS A GIFT:

Romans 5:15 "But not as the offence, so also <is> the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, <which is> by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.

WE ARE SAVED BY GRACE:

Acts 15:11 "But we believe that through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they."

Romans 11:6 "And if by grace, then <is it> no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if <it be> of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work." It is given freely by God (Psalms 84:11).

Psalms 84:11 "For the LORD God <is> a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good <thing> will he withhold from them that walk uprightly."

GRACE GROWS BY KNOWLEDGE OF JESUS & OUR HUMILITY:

Proverbs 3:34 "Surely he scorneth the scorners: but he giveth grace unto the lowly."

James 4:6 "But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble."

1 Peter 5:5 "Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all <of you> be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble."

2 Peter 1:2 "Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,"

2 Peter 3:18 "But grow in grace, and <in> the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him <be> glory both now and for ever. Amen."

Peace: Hebrew word Shalom used for hello, good-bye & God bless you. Only God gives peace to ones spirit of forgiveness & restoration.

John 14:27 "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."

Philippians 4:7 "And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." Peace the opposite to anxiety. Tranquillity & worry free.

God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: God is a Triunity. God can not be divided. Father, Jesus, and Holy Spirit are the ways the one God reveals himself. If one sees Jesus, he also sees the Father and the Holy Spirit at the same time since God can not be divided (Colossians 1:15). Jesus is perfect man and perfect God.

See my paper: "Triunity" for more information on this subject.

See my paper: "Just who is God" for more information on this subject.

John 14:9-10 "Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou <then>, Show us the Father? {10} Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works."

Colossians 2:9 "For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily."

1 John 2:22-23 "Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son. {23} Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: <(but>) <he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also>."

Romans 1:8 "First, I thank my /\ God /\ through M Jesus M T Christ T for you all, that your [ faith ] is spoken of throughout the whole world."

Romans 1:9 "For /\ God /\ is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the [ gospel ] of his /\ Son /\, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;"

Without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers:

See my paper: "Prayer" for more information on this subject.

Do not cease to pray for you: Paul made similar prayers in:

Acts 4:29-30 (Elders); Romans 15:5-6, 13; Ephesians 1:17-20; Ephesians 3:16-19;

Philippians 1:9-11; Colossians 1:9-14; 1 Thessalonians 3:11-13;

2 Thessalonians 1:11-12; 1 Timothy 2:1; Hebrews 13:20-21; 1 Peter 5:10-11 (Peter)

1 Thessalonians 5:17 "Pray without ceasing."

WHAT IS PRAYER? Prayer is a conversation or communication (dialogue of 2 sides) of our heart with God. It should not be general but specific and its purpose is to get God's will done. The intent should not be aimed at changing God's mind or purpose.

Isaiah 65:24 "And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear."

God answers prayer with a conveyor like means in which God puts the answers on the conveyor in eternity past and they come to the person who prayed at the exact correct time for the person needs.

Matthew 6:8 "Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him."

Acts 15:18 "Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world."

HOW SHOULD WE PRAY?

John 16:24 "Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full." In Jesus name & will.

Philippians 4:6 "Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God." With worship, thanks, and praise to God.

Romans 1:10 "Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of /\ God /\ to come unto you."

WHY: I LONG TO SEE YOU; I MAY IMPART TO YOU; SPIRITUAL GIFT; YOU BE ESTABLISHED

Romans 1:11 "For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;"

Romans 1:12 "That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual [ faith ] both of you and me."

WHEN: OFTEN-TIME I PURPOSED TO COME UNTO YOU, BUT WAS PREVENTED.

Gospel of Christ...the power of God unto salvation to every believer:

Gospel is the good news or story about God providing life & salvation by Jesus ministry, life, death, & resurrection.

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 "Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; {2} By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. {3} For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; {4} And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:"

1 Corinthians 1:18 "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God." See Romans 1:1 Gospel of God notes.

To the Jew first..also to the Greek: To both, but Jesus is Jewish & the Bible was written by Jews about God's chosen people the Jews.

Matthew 15:24 "But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel." "He" being Jesus

John 4:22 "Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews." Jesus is speaking here.

Acts 3:25-26 "Ye are the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed. {26} Unto you first God, having raised up his Son Jesus, sent him to bless you, in turning away every one of you from his iniquities."

Acts 13:46 "Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles."

(3) {2:26} Uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, will not his uncircumcision be counted for circumcision

(4) {3:5} Our unrighteousness commend the righteousness of God, what is God unrighteous who takes vengeance?

(14) {4:11} He received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith yet uncircumcised: that he be the father of all that believe, though they be not circumcision; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also

(15) {4:13} The promise to Abraham, to be the heir, and his seed, is not by the law, but by the righteousness of faith -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Romans 1:17 "For [ therein ] is the [ righteousness ] of /\ God /\ revealed from [ faith ] to [ faith ]: as it is written, The [ just ] shall live by [ faith ]."

The just shall live by faith: Just (justified) means just as if I never sinned by Jesus blood covering me. How can a righteous, holy God forgive sinners and accept them as if they never sinned? God performed a legal and formal acquittal from guilt to the believer. He declared us to be righteous by imputation. See Also Romans 4:8 for imputed and Romans 5:1notes for justified.

Habakkuk 2:4 "Behold, his soul <which> is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith." In Old Testament as well as the New Testament.

Romans 3:27-28 "Where <is> boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. {28} Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law." The law shows sin. The faithful man is imputed righteous.

Galatians 3:11 "But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, <it is> evident: for, The just shall live by faith."

Hebrews 10:38 "Now the just shall live by faith: but if <any man> draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him."

Jeremiah 10:10-11 "But the LORD <is> the true God, he <is> the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation. {11} Thus shall ye say unto them, The gods that have not made the heavens and the earth, <even> they shall perish from the earth, and from under these heavens."

Romans 1:20 "For the invisible things of /\ him /\ from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, <even> his eternal power and /\ Godhead /\; so (4) that they are without excuse:"

Invisible things of Him from creation of the world..clearly seen:

The sky: stars, moon and sun show His greatness & infinity. The rain & food show His providing nature. Lighting show His power. God's deeds are shown in His creation. Jesus' deeds are found in His Word, the Bible.

Romans 1:27 "And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompense of their error which was meet."

Romans 2:14 "For when the Gentiles, which have not the [ law ], do by nature the things contained in the [ law ], these, having not the [ law ], are a [ law ] unto themselves:"

The gentiles, have not law, do by nature things contained in law:

Pagans have their law which sometimes agrees with God's laws. God judges them by breaking their own laws.

Acts 10:35 "But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him."

Romans 2:15 "Which show the work of the [ law ] written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and <their> thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;)"

Romans 2:18 "And knowest </\ his /\> will, and (2) approvest the things that are more excellent, being instructed out of the [ law ];"

Romans 2:19 "And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,"

Romans 2:20 "An (3) instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the [ law ]."

Romans 2:24 "For the name of /\ God /\ is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is written."

The name of God is blasphemed among the gentiles: Christian/Jew doing wrong is seen by pagan and the name of God is blasphemed.

2 Peter 2:2 "And many shall follow their pernicious ways; by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LIST: {2:25-4:12} CIRCUMCISION & UNCIRCUMCISION

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(1) {2:25} Circumcision profits, if thou keep the law: but if thou break the law, thy circumcision is uncircumcision

(2) {2:26} If the uncircumcision keep the righteousness of the law, his uncircumcision is counted for circumcision

(3) {2:27} uncircumcision, if fulfil the law, judge thee, who by the letter & circumcision does transgress the law

(4) {2:29} Circumcision <is that> of the heart, in the spirit, <and> not in the letter

(5) {3:1} What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit <is there> of circumcision

(6) {3:30} Which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith

(7) {4:9} <Cometh> this blessedness then upon the circumcision <only>, or upon the uncircumcision

(8) {4:10} Reckoned? when circumcised, or in uncircumcision? Not in circumcision, but in uncircumcision

(9) {4:11} He received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith being uncircumcision: that he may be the father of all that believe, though they be not circumcision; so righteousness might be imputed to them

(10) {4:12} The father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but of our father Abraham

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Romans 2:25 " (1) For [ circumcision ] verily profiteth, if thou keep the [ law ]: but if thou be a breaker of the [ law ], thy [ circumcision ] is made [ uncircumcision ]."

Circumcision profits, the law keep, the law broke, uncircumcision:

See my paper: "Circumcision" for more information on this subject.

Genesis 17:10-11 "This <is> my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised. {11} And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you." A Jew is to keep this for relationship, not for salvation.

Galatians 5:3-4 "For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. {4} Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace." If one forces another or for gentles

CONCLUSION: THEREFORE

Romans 2:26 "Therefore (2) if the [ uncircumcision ] keep the [ righteousness ] of the [ law ], shall not his [ uncircumcision ] be [ counted ] for [ circumcision ]?"

Uncircumcision keeps law, uncircumcision counted for circumcision:

The gentle doing the law counts for obeying God. This is similar to a person being baptized but not obeying God versus a person obeying God even if he is not baptized.

1 Corinthians 7:19 "Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God."

Romans 2:27 "And (3) shall not [ uncircumcision ] which is by nature, if it fulfil the [ law ], [ judge ] thee, who by the letter and [ circumcision ] dost transgress the [ law ]?"

Romans 2:28 "For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither <is that> [ circumcision ], which is outward in the flesh:"

He is not a Jew, outwardly, neither circumcision, outward in flesh:

Romans 8:4 "That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."

Romans 9:6 "Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they <are> not all Israel, which are of Israel:"

2:29 CONTRAST: BUT

Romans 2:29 "But he <is> a Jew, which is one inwardly; and (4) [ circumcision ] <is that> of the heart, in the [ spirit ], <and> not in the letter; whose praise <is> not of men, but of /\ God /\."

He is a Jew, inwardly, circumcision of heart, in flesh, not letter:

See my paper: "Circumcision" for more information on this subject.

Philippians 3:3 "For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh."

B) LACK OF MAN'S RIGHTEOUSNESS REVEALED: {ROMANS 3:1-3:19}

TO WHOM: JEWS

Romans 3:1 " (5) What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit <is there> of [ circumcision ]?"

See my paper: "Israel & Jewish People in God's Plans" for more information on this subject.

What advantage then hath the Jew:

The Jews are the chosen people of God. They wrote all the books (except maybe Job and Luke). Jesus (our savior) was Jewish and was born in Israel to Jewish parents. God has promised that they will be His people (married to them, their husband) forever. The temple was in Israel, and most of the Bible events happened in Israel (their country) to Jewish people.

WHAT: UNTO THEM WERE COMMITTED THE ORACLES OF GOD

Romans 3:2 "Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of /\ God /\."

Much every way..unto them were committed the oracles of God:

See Romans 1:2 notes on Holy Scriptures.

See my paper: "God's Word/Bible/Scriptures" for more information on this subject.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 "All scripture <is> given by inspiration of God, and <is> profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: {17} That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works." Jewish advanced

1 Peter 1:23 "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever."

Romans 3:3 "For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the [ faith ] of /\ God /\ without effect?"

Romans 3:4 "/\ God /\ forbid: yea, let /\ God /\ be true, but every man a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be [ justified ] in thy sayings, and mightest overcome when thou art [ judged ]."

WHY: COMMEND THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF GOD

Romans 3:5 "But if our [ unrighteousness ] commend the [ righteousness ] of /\ God /\, what shall we say? <Is> /\ God /\ [ unrighteous ] who taketh vengeance? (I speak as a man)"

Romans 3:6 "/\ God /\ forbid: for then how shall /\ God /\ [ judge ] the world?"

Romans 3:7 "For if the truth of /\ God /\ hath more abounded through my lie unto /\ his /\ { glory }; why yet am I also [ judged ] as a [ sinner ]?"

Romans 3:8 "And not <rather>, (as we be slanderously reported, and as some affirm that we say,) Let us do evil, that good may come? whose damnation is just."

Romans 3:9 "What then? are we better <than they>? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under [ sin ];"

Are we better? No, Jews & Gentiles, they are all under sin:

Romans 3:23 "For all have [ sinned ], and come short of the glory of God';"

Romans 3:19 "Now we know that (1) what things soever the [ law ] saith, it saith to them who are under the [ law ]: that every mouth may be stopped, and (2) all the world may become guilty before /\ God /\."

CONCLUSION: THEREFORE

Romans 3:20 "Therefore (3) by the deeds of the [ law ] there shall no flesh be [ justified ] in /\ his /\ sight: for (4) by the [ law ] <is> the [ knowledge ] of [ sin ]."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What things the law saith to those under law, all world guilty. By

deeds of law no flesh be justified...by law knowledge of sin:

LAW VERSUS FAITH: WHICH IS THE WAY TO PLEASE GOD:

See my paper: "What Does God Really Want?" for more information on this subject.

See my paper: "Questions & Answers on Law, Faith & Liberty" for more information on this subject.

Purpose of the Law:

- "All the world may become guilty before God" Romans 3:19

- "By the law is the knowledge of sin" Romans 3:20

- "Is the law sin? Nay, not know sin, but by the law" Romans 7:7

Law weak because of flesh:

- "Law is spiritual: but I am carnel" Romans 7:14

- "Law could not do..weak through the flesh" Romans 8:3

Law produces death:

- "By the law..our members bring forth fruit unto death"Romans 7:5

- "Cursed is every one that continues..in all..law" Galatians 3:10

- "Every man ..circumcised..debtor to do the whole law. Christ is become of no effect..ye are fallen from grace" Galatians 5:3-4

Law Never Replaced Faith as God's method:

- Promise to be heir was not by law, but of faith. Romans 4:13

- "Man is justified by faith without deeds of the law" Romans 3:28

Law in place until Christ was manifested:

- "Christ is the end of the law for righteousness" Romans 10:4

- "The law..added..till the seed {Jesus}should come"Galatians 3:19

- "Law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ"Galatians 3:24

Law is not void but established by faith:

- "Void law through faith?..we establish the law." Romans 3:31

- Righteousness of law by not flesh walk but by Spirit. Romans 8:4

- After faith is come, we are no longer under law. Galatians 3:25

Love fulfills the law:

- "He that loveth another hath fulfilled the law" Romans 13:8, 10

- "All the law is fulfilled in one word..love..." Galatians 5:14

IV) STATEMENT OF JUSTIFICATION OF FAITH (WAY OF SALVATION): {ROMANS 3:21-31}

A) THE LAW VALIDATED THROUGH CHRIST: {ROMANS 3:21-28}

Romans 3:21 "But now the [ righteousness ] of /\ God /\ without the [ law ] is manifested, being witnessed by the [ law ] and the prophets;"

CONTRAST: RIGHTEOUSNESS - WITHOUT LAW -> BY FAITH

Righteousness of God is without law, witness by law & prophets:

The Old Testament is comprised of the law (first five books plus others), writings (history - Judges, I & II Kings, etc), the prophets (major - larger books like Isaiah & minor - smaller books like last thirteen books). The statement "law & prophets" usually means the three groups. The writings would be included in the other groups.

Righteousness: Right standing before God. The character of being right, just, holy, clean & pure. God conforms to a moral proper standard or norm. To miss the norm is to sin. Jesus alone was perfect. He is the rock.

Isaiah 64:6 "But we are all as an unclean <thing>, and all our righteousnesses <are> as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away."

1 Corinthians 1:30 "But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:" We become righteous (right doing) by Jesus imputation.

Colossians 2:10 "And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:"

If righteousness <come> by the law, Christ is dead in vain: Gal 3:21

1 Corinthians 15:14 "And if Christ be not risen, then <is> our preaching vain, and your faith <is> also vain."

Galatians 2:21 "I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness <come> by the law, then Christ is dead in vain."

Galatians 3:21 "<Is> the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law."

Romans 3:22 "Even the [ righteousness ] of /\ God /\ <which is> by [ faith ] of M Jesus M T Christ T unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:"

Righteousness of God by faith unto all that believe:

Romans 9:30 "What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith."

Romans 3:23 "For all have [ sinned ] , and come short of the { glory } of /\ God /\;"

WHY: JUSTIFIED FREELY BY HIS GRACE THROUGH THE REDEMPTION THAT IS IN CHRIST

Romans 3:24 "Being [ justified ] freely by /\ his /\ [ grace ] through the [ redemption ] that is in T Christ T M Jesus M:" Grace see Romans 1:7.

See my paper: "Justification" for more information on this subject.

See my paper: "Grace" for more information on this subject.

Justified freely by his grace through redemption in Christ Jesus:

JUSTIFIED: How can a righteous, Holy God forgive sinners and accept them as if they never sinned? God performed a legal and formal acquittal from guilt to the believer. He declared us to be righteous by imputation.

IMPUTED: God reckon to us, account to us, & attributes to us His righteousness. It does not imply a transfer of moral qualities but credits us with Jesus righteousness as our innocent substitute. He fulfilled the law & Jesus payment, of our debt, was reckon to us.

Romans 5:15 "But not as the offence, so also <is> the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, <which is> by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many."

Romans 3:25 "Whom /\ God /\ hath set forth <to be> a [ propitiation ] through [ faith ] in T his T blood, to declare M his M [ righteousness ] for the remission of [ sins ] that are past, through the forbearance of /\ God /\;"

Whom God set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood:

See my paper: "Salvation Biblical Word Glossary" for more information on this subject.

Propitiation is that (Jesus death) which satisfied God's justice. Propitiation emphasizes the appeasement or averting of God's wrath and justice.

1 John 4:10 "Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son <to be> the propitiation for our sins."

Romans 3:26 "To declare, <I say>, at this time M his M [ righteousness ]: that /\ he /\ might be [ just ], and the [ justifier ] of him which believeth in M Jesus M."

See my paper: "True Gospel for Salvation by the Imputed Righteousness of Jesus" for more information on this subject.

Romans 3:27 "Where <is> boasting then? It is excluded. By what [ law ]? of works? Nay: but by the [ law ] of [ faith]."

CONCLUSION: THEREFORE

Romans 3:28 "Therefore we conclude that a man is [ justified ] by [ faith ] without the deeds of the [ law ]." Justified see Romans 1:17.

See my paper: "Faith" for more information on this subject.

WHY: A MAN IS JUSTIFIED BY FAITH WITHOUT THE DEEDS OF THE LAW

We conclude that man is justified by faith without deeds of law:

Galatians 5:3-4 "For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. {4} Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace." See also Grace Romans 1:17.

B) CHRIST RIGHTEOUSNESS ACQUIRED: {ROMANS 3:29-31}

Romans 3:29 "<Is /\ he /\ > the /\ God /\ of the Jews only? <is /\ he /\ > not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:"

Is he the God of the Jews only...also of the Gentiles:

Romans 12:5 "So we, <being> many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another."

Galatians 3:28 "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus."

WHO: GOD TO WHOM: CIRCUMCISION & UNCIRCUMCISION

Romans 3:30 "Seeing <it is> one /\ God /\, (6) which shall [ justify ] the [ circumcision ] by [ faith ], and [ uncircumcision ] through [ faith ]."

Romans 3:31 "Do we then make void the [ law ] through [ faith ]? /\ God /\ forbid: yea, we establish the [ law ]. "See Romans 3:20 for more details

Do we then make void the law through faith?...we establish the law:

Matthew 5:17-19 "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. {18} For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. {19} Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach <them>, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven."

V) ABRAHAM'S JUSTIFICATION OF FAITH (FAITH OF SALVATION): {ROMANS 4:1-25}

Romans 4:1 "What shall we say then that Abraham our father, as pertaining to the flesh, hath found?"

Abraham our father:

Genesis 17:5 "Neither shall thy name any more be called Abram, but thy name shall be Abraham; for a father of many nations have I made thee."Abram = exalted father & Abraham = father of a multitude

Romans 4:2 "For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath <whereof> to glory; but not before God."

Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory:

James 2:21-22 "Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?{22} Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, & by works was faith made perfect?"Faith shows proof in work.

Romans 4:3 "For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness."

Abraham believed God, it was counted unto him for righteousness:

James 2:23 "And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God."

Romans 4:4 "Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt."

Him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt:

Romans 11:6 "And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work."

Romans 4:5 "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness."

Worketh not, but believeth, his faith is counted for righteousness:

Habakkuk 2:4 "Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith."

Romans 1:17 "For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith."

Romans 4:6 "Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,"

David: Called a man after mine own heart.

Psalms 32:1 "A Psalm of David, Maschil. Blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered."

Romans 4:7 "<Saying>, Blessed <are> they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered."

Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, whose sins covered:

IMPUTED: God reckon to us, account to us, & attributes to us His righteousness. It does not imply a transfer of moral qualities but credits us with Jesus righteousness as our innocent substitute. He fulfilled the law & Jesus payment, of our debt, was reckon to us.

Imputed is found in Romans 4:6, 4:8, 4:11, 4:22-24, 5:13

Psalms 32:2 "Blessed <is> the man unto whom the LORD imputeth not iniquity, and in whose spirit <there is> no guile."

2 Corinthians 5:19 "To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation."

Romans 4:8 "Blessed <is> the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin."

Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin:

See also Romans 5:13 notes.

Imputed: God reckon to us, account us, & attributed to us

His righteous. It does not imply a transfer of moral qualities but credits us with Jesus righteous as our innocent substitute. Likewise, our unrighteous sins were imputed to Jesus. Jesus fulfilled the law & He paid our debt which was reckon to us.

See my paper: "Salvation Biblical Words Glossary" for more information on this subject.

James 2:23 "And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

KEY WORD: {ROMANS 4:6-5:13} IMPUTED

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(1) {4:6} David also describes the man blessed, unto whom God imputes righteousness without works

(2) {4:8} Blessed <is> the man to whom the Lord forgives iniquity, whose sins are covered, & will not impute sin

(3) {4:11} Circumcision is a seal of the righteousness of the faith that Abraham, the father of all that believe, that righteousness might be imputed unto both Jews & Gentiles

(4) {4:22} And therefore it was imputed to him (Abraham) for righteousness

(5) {4:23} Now it was not written for his (Abraham) sake alone, that it was imputed to him (Abraham)

(6) {4:24} But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on God that raised up Jesus from the dead

(7) {5:16} For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Romans 4:9 " (7) <Cometh> this blessedness then upon the [ circumcision ] <only>, or upon the [ uncircumcision ] also? for we say that faith was reckoned to Abraham for righteousness."

Romans 4:10 "How was it then (8) reckoned? when he was in [ circumcision ], or in [ uncircumcision ]? Not in [ circumcision ], but in [ uncircumcision ]."

How was it then reckoned? circumcision or in uncircumcision: First in uncircumcision then circumcision

Romans 4:11 "And (9) he received the sign of [ circumcision ], a seal of the righteousness of the faith which <he had yet> being [ uncircumcision ]: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not [ circumcision ]; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also:"

He received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness:

Genesis 17:10-11 "This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised. {11} And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you."

Romans 4:12 "And (10) the father of [ circumcision ] to them who are not of the [ circumcision ] only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which <he had> being <yet> [ uncircumcision ]."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Romans 4:13 "For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, <was> not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith."

Promise, he be heir of the world, not to Abraham, through the law:

Genesis 12:2-3 "And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: {3} And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed."

Romans 4:14 "For if they which are of the law <be> heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:"

Romans 4:15 "Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, <there is> no transgression."

The law worketh wrath, where no law is no transgression:

Romans 5:13 "(For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law."

Romans 4:16 "Therefore <it is> of faith, that <it might be> by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,"

Romans 4:17 "(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, <even> God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were."

Romans 4:18 "Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, according to that which was spoken, So shall thy seed be."

Who against hope believed in hope:

Hebrews 11:6 "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." Faith is not hope which is like a wishing. Faith is real.

Romans 4:19 "And being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, when he was about an hundred years old, neither yet the deadness of Sarah's womb:"

Being not weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead:

Hebrews 11:11 "Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age, because she judged him faithful who had promised." This is the same for Abraham.

Romans 4:20 "He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;"

Romans 4:21 "And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform."

Romans 4:22 "And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness."

It was imputed to him for righteousness:

See 4:3 notes

See my paper: "True Gospel for Salvation by the Imputed Righteousness of Jesus" for more information on this subject.

Romans 4:23 "Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;"

Romans 4:24 "But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;"

Us whom it be imputed if we believe Jesus was raised from the dead:

Romans 10:9-10 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. {10} For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

Romans 4:25 "Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification."

Delivered for our offences, raised again for our justification:

See my paper: "Justification" for more information on this subject.

JUSTIFICATION OF FAITH RESULTS (RESULTS OF SALVATION): {5:1-5:21}

Romans 5:1 "Therefore being [ justified ] by [ faith ], we have peace with /\ God /\ through our /\ Lord /\ M Jesus M T Christ T:"

THEME:BEING JUSTIFIED BY FAITH, WE HAVE PEACE WITH GOD THROUGH OUR LORD JESUS

WHAT: BEING JUSTIFIED BY FAITH, WE HAVE PEACE WITH GOD THROUGH OUR LORD JESUS

CONCLUSION: THEREFORE

Being justified by faith:

See my papers: " Justification" for more information on this subject.

See my papers: "Faith" for more information on this subject.

Galatians 2:16-17 "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.{17} But if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found sinners, is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid."

We have peace with God through Jesus: Not just a feeling, but a status & relationship with God.

See my papers: "Salvation Biblical Word Glossary" for more information on this subject.

Ephesians 2:14-17 "For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; {15} Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; {16} And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: {17} And came and preached peace to you which were afar off, and to them that were nigh."

Colossians 1:20-22 "And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven. {21} And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled {22} In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:"

Romans 5:2 "By whom also we have access by [ faith ] into this [ grace ] wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the { glory } of /\ God /\."

We have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand: Grace is unmerited flavor from God.

See my papers: " Grace" for more information on this subject.

Ephesians 2:8-10 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: {9} Not of works, lest any man should boast. {10} For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."

Romans 5:1-5 "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: {2} By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. {3} And not only <so>, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; {4} And patience, experience; and experience, hope: {5} And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us."

Faith -> virtue -> knowledge -> temperance -> patience -> godliness ->

brother kindness -> charity (love in action) -> fruitful in Jesus knowledge

2 Peter 1:4-8 "Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. {5} And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; {6} And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; {7} And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. {8} For if these things be in you, and abound, they make <you that ye shall> neither <be> barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ."

Romans 5:4 "And { patience, (3) experience; and experience, (4) hope:} "

Patience, experience, hope:

2 Timothy 4:18 "And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen."

Romans 5:5 "And hope maketh { (5) not ashamed }; because the [ love ] of /\ God /\ is shed abroad in our hearts by the /\ [ Holy Ghost ] /\ which is given unto us."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The love of God is shed abroad in our heart by Holy Ghost given us:

Romans 8:14-16 "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. {15} For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. {16} The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:"

Romans 5:6 "For when we were yet without strength, in due time T Christ T died for the ungodly."

WHEN: IN DUE TIME

WHY: CHRIST DIED FOR THE UNGODLY

In due time Christ died for the ungodly:

Galatians 4:4 "But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,"

Romans 5:7 "For scarcely for a [ righteous ] man will one die: yet peradventure for a good man some would even dare to die."

Christ died for ungodly..scarcely for a righteous man will one die..good man would some die:

John 15:13 "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

1 John 3:16 "Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren."

Hebrews 7:25 "Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them."

Romans 5:8 "But /\ God /\ commendeth his [ love ] toward us, in that, while we were yet [ sinners ], T Christ T died for us."

TIME: WHILE

While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us:

See my papers: "Between Jesus Death & Resurrection What Was He Accomplishing?" for more information on this subject.

1 John 4:9-10 "In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. {10} Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins." Propitiation equals satisfaction or the way to appease or avert God's wrath and justice to make reconciliation.

Romans 5:9 "Much more then, being now [ justified ] by T his T blood, we shall be saved from wrath through T him T."

Justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him:

Romans 3:24-25 "Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: {25} Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;"

1 Thessalonians 1:10 "And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come."

Romans 5:10 "For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to /\ God /\ by the death of /\ his /\ /\ Son /\, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by T his T life."

We were reconciled to God by Jesus death, we shall be saved by his life:

Colossians 1:21-22 "And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled {22} In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:"

Romans 5:11 "And not only <so>, but we also joy in /\ God /\ through our /\ Lord /\ M Jesus M T Christ T, by whom we have now received the atonement." To restore the relationship between God and man.

Our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have received the atonement: Atonement = reconciliation

See my papers: "Salvation Biblical Words Glossary" for more information on this subject.

2 Corinthians 5:18-19 "And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; {19} To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation."

WHAT: BY ONE MAN SIN ENTERED INTO THE WORLD, DEATH BY SIN, DEATH PASSED TO ALL

CHAPTER - NEW SUBJECT:

By one man sin entered the world, death by sin, death passed on all men for all have sinned:

See my papers: "Original Sin & Its Results" for more information on this subject.

Psalms 51:5 "Behold, I was shapen in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me."

Psalms 58:3 "The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies."

Romans 5:13 "(For { until the [ law ] [ sin ] was in the world: but [ sin ] is not imputed when there is no [ law ].}"

Until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law:

See my papers: "True Gospel for Salvation by the Imputed Righteousness of Jesus" for more information on this subject.

Romans 4:22-25 "And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness. {23} Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; {24} But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; {25} Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification."See also Romans 4:7-8 notes

Romans 10:1-4 "Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. {2} For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. {3} For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. {4} For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth."Christ is end of law for righteousness.

Romans 5:14 "Nevertheless { death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not [ sinned ] after the similitude of Adam's transgression }, who is the figure of him that was to come."

Death reigned from Adam to Moses: Adam sin brought death to all men of all times

Hebrews 9:27 "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:"

See Romans 5:17 below for more information on Adams sin leading to death.

Romans 5:15 "But not as the offence, so also <is> the free gift. For { if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the [ grace ] of /\ God /\, and the gift by grace, <which is> by one man, M Jesus M T Christ T, hath abounded unto many. }"

Through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God by one man, Jesus, hath abounded unto many: God's grace is greater than Adam's sin.

Matthew 20:28 "Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many."

Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: {9} Not of works, lest any man should boast."

1 Timothy 1:14 "And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus."

Romans 5:16 "And not as <it was> by one that [ sinned ] , <so is> { the gift: for the judgment <was> by one to condemnation, but the free gift <is> of many offences unto [ justification ].}"

Not by one that sinned, the free gift of many offences unto justification:

See my papers: "Justification" for more information on this subject.

Acts 13:38-39 "Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: {39} And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses."

Romans 5:17 "For if { by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of [ grace ] and of the gift of [ righteousness ] shall reign in life by one, M Jesus M T Christ T. })"

Romans 5:18 "Therefore as by the { offence of one <judgment came> upon all men to condemnation; even so by the [ righteousness ] of one <the free gift came> upon all men unto [ justification ] of life }."

[ CONCLUSION: ] THEREFORE

WAY: OFFENSE OF ONE JUDGMENT, BY RIGHTEOUSNESS OF ONE JUSTIFICATION OF LIFE

By the righteousness of one free gift came upon all men unto justification of life:

Isaiah 53:11 "He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities."

2 Corinthians 5:21 "For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him."

Romans 5:19 "For as by { one man's disobedience many were made [ sinners ] , so by the obedience of one shall many be made [ righteous ] }."

Romans 5:20 "{ Moreover the [ law ] entered, that the offence might abound. But where [ sin ] abounded, [ grace ] did much more abound: }"

Law entered, that the offence might abound:

See my papers: "What Does God Really Want?" for more information on this subject.

See my papers: "Questions & Answers on Law, Faith & Liberty" for more information on this subject.

Romans 3:20-22 "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. {21} But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; {22} Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:"

Romans 7:7-9 "What shall we say then? is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet. {8} But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead. {9} For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died."

Galatians 3:19, 21, 23-24 "Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. {21} Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. {23} But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. {24} Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith."

Where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

See my papers: " Grace" for more information on this subject.

Ephesians 2:4-5 "But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us, {5} Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)"

1 Timothy 1:14-15 "And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. {15} This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief."

Romans 5:21 " {That as [ sin ] hath reigned unto death, even so might [ grace ] reign through [ righteousness ] unto eternal life } by M Jesus M T Christ T our /\ Lord /\."

JUSTIFICATION DOES NOT PROMOTE SIN (LIFE OF SALVATION):

{ROMANS 6:1-8:39}

A) THE LAW FULFILLED IN CHRISTIANS: {ROMANS 6:1-7:25}

Romans 6:1 "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in [ sin ], that [ grace ] may abound?"

Shall we continue in sin:

Romans 6:15-16 "What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid. {16} Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?"

Romans 6:2 "/\ God /\ forbid. How shall we, that are dead to [ sin ], live any longer therein?"

God forbid, we, that are dead to sin, live any more therein:

God forbid, we, that are dead to sin, live any more therein:

We still struggle and are subject to its presence, influence & power of sin in our character and conduct while in the flesh with the need to be cleaned. Dead to sin is a Christian's legal position before God by our oneness with Jesus. We are no longer guilty or condemned as a justified sinner because Christ paid for ours sins and satisfied God's law and justice as shown in Romans 6:10-11.

Romans 8:12-14 "Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. {13} For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. {14} For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God."

Galatians 2:19 "For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God."

Colossians 3:1-3, 5 "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. {2} Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. {3} For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. {5} Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:"

1 Peter 2:24 "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed."

WHAT: WE WILL DO THE SAME THING JESUS DID

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LIST: {ROMANS 6:3-5} BAPTISM - WE WILL DO THE SAME THING JESUS DID (1-6) -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(1) BAPTIZED INTO JESUS {3} -> (2) INTO HIS DEATH {3} -> (3) BURIED WITH HIM {4} -> (4) RAISED WITH HIM {4} -> (5) WALK IN NEWNESS OF LIFE {4} -> (6) RESURRECTED IN HIM {5}

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Romans 6:3 "Know ye not, that { (1) so many of us as were [ baptized ] into M Jesus M T Christ T were [ baptized ] (2) into his death?} "

We who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized in his death:

See my papers: "Apostles Baptism" for more information on this subject.

See my papers: "Baptism for Forgiveness of Sins" for more information on this subject.

baptism symbolizes us being:

- Crucified with Christ Jesus: vs 6;

- Dead with Christ: vs 5;

- Buried with Christ: vs 4;

- Resurrected with Christ: vs 4;

- Newness of life with Christ: vs 4;

we can't be any or all these things with Jesus unless we have been baptized into Christ.

We must believe that we are crucified, dead, buried, resurrected, and made anew with Jesus Christ by being baptized. Then the fruits should follow our step of faith in being baptized. The person must make a decision to go through baptism. The person can't be a baby who would not have reason these things, but they can be a young child with an understanding of God's principles about baptism.

Galatians 3:27 "For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ."

Romans 6:4 "Therefore { (3) we are buried with him by [ baptism ] into death: that (4) like as T Christ T was raised up from the dead by the { glory } of the /\ Father /\, even (5) so we also should walk in newness of life.}"

[ CONCLUSION: ] THEREFORE

We are buried with him by baptism's death & raised up from the dead: The Father & Holy Spirit did not die. Matthew 28:19 wording is not to be used for baptism since Jesus died & is the fulness of Godhead.

Matthew 28:19 "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:"

Colossians 2:9 "For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily."

Romans 6:5 "For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, { (6) we shall be also <in the likeness> of < T his T > resurrection:}"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We have planted in likeness of his death, be likeness resurrection:

Colossians 2:12 "Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead."

1 Peter 3:21 "The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CONTRASTS: {ROMANS 6:6-11} SIN -> DEATH VERSUS CHRIST ALIVE -> RESURRECTION -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OLD MAN {6} -> BODY LIVES UNTO SIN {6} -> SO THAT DEATH HAS DOMINION OVER HIM {9}

CRUCIFIED MAN {6} -> HAS BODY OF SIN DESTROYED {6} -> TO NOT SERVE SIN {6} -> FOR THE DEAD IS FREED FROM SIN {7} -> IF DEAD WITH CHRIST THEN ALIVE WITH HIM {8} -> CHRIST IS RAISED TO DIES NO MORE {9} -> WE DIED UNTO SIN {10} -> TO LIVE UNTO GOD {10} -> BY RECKONING YOURSELF DEAD UNTO SIN & ALIVE UNTO GOD THROUGH JESUS CHRIST {11}

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Romans 6:6 "Knowing this, that { our old man is crucified with <him>, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve [ sin ].}"

Our old man is crucified with him, body of sin might be destroyed:

Galatians 2:19-20 "For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. {20} I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."

Romans 6:7 "For { he that is dead is freed from [ sin ].}"

He that is dead is freed from sin:

Colossians 3:1-4 "If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. {2} Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. {3} For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. {4} When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory."

1 Peter 4:1 "Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin;"

Romans 6:8 "Now { if we be dead with T Christ T, we believe that we shall also live with /\ him /\:}"

If we be dead with Christ, we shall also live with him:

See my papers: "In Christ" for more information on this subject.

2 Timothy 2:11-12 "It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: {12} If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:"

Romans 6:9 "{ Knowing that T Christ T being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.} "

Christ being raised from the dead dies no more; death has no power:

Hebrews 2:14-15 "Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; {15} And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage."

Revelation 1:18 "I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death."

Romans 6:10 "For { in that T he T died, T he T died unto [ sin ] once: but in that T he T liveth, T he T liveth unto /\ God /\.} "

He died, He died to sin once..in that he lives, he lives to God:

2 Corinthians 5:14-15 "For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: {15} And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again."

Reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, alive to God:

See my papers: Imputed/Reckoned/Counted Righteousness of Jesus for more information on this subject.

We still struggle and are subject to its presence, influence & power of sin in our character and conduct, while in the flesh, with a need to be cleaned. Dead to sin is a Christian's legal position before God by our oneness with Jesus in that "he died unto sin once." We are no longer guilty or condemned as a justified sinner because Christ paid for ours sins and satisfied God's law and justice as shown in Romans 6:10-11. Also see Romans 6:2.

Romans 6:12 "{ (3) Let not [ sin ] therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. }"

Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body:

Romans 7:23-24 "But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. {24} O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?" Jesus

Romans 6:13 "{ Neither yield ye your members <as> instruments of [ unrighteousness ] unto [ sin ]: (4) but yield yourselves unto /\ God /\, as those that are alive from the dead, and (5) your members <as> instruments of [ righteousness ] unto /\ God /\."

Neither yield your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin

1 Corinthians 6:15-16 "Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid. {16} What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh."

Romans 6:14 "{ For [ sin ] shall not have dominion over you: (6) for ye are not under the [ law ], but under [ grace ].} " -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sin shall not have dominion over you, you aren't under law but grace

Romans 5:20-21 "Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: {21} That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord."

Romans 7:5-6 "For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death. {6} But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter."

Romans 6:15 "What then? shall we [ sin ], because we are not under the [ law ], but under [ grace ]? /\ God /\ forbid."

Romans 6:16 "Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of [ sin ] unto death, or of obedience unto [ righteousness ]?"

Whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, you are, sin unto death, obedience unto righteousness:

John 8:34 "Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin."

2 Peter 2:19 "While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption: for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage."

Romans 6:17 "But /\ God /\ be thanked, that ye were the servants of [ sin ], but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you."

You were servants of sin, you obeyed that form of doctrine delivered:

1 Timothy 1:13-14 "Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief. {14} And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus."

1 Peter 2:9 "But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:"

Romans 6:18 "Being then made free from [ sin ], ye became the servants of [ righteousness ]."

Being made free from sin, you became the servants of righteousness:

See my papers: "Questions & Answers on Law, Faith & Liberty" for more information on this subject.

John 8:32, 36 "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. {36} If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."

Galatians 5:1 "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage."

Romans 6:19 "I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to [ righteousness ] unto holiness."

Romans 6:20 "For when ye were the servants of [ sin ], ye were free from [ righteousness ]."

Romans 6:21 "What fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things <is> death."

Romans 6:22 "But now being made free from [ sin ], and become servants to /\ God /\, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life."

THEME: BEING MADE FREE FROM SIN, BECOME SERVANTS OF GOD, END EVERLASTING LIFE

Romans 6:23 "For the wages of [ sin ] <is> death; but the gift of /\ God /\ <is> eternal life through M Jesus M T Christ T our /\ Lord /\."

Wages of sin is death, gift of God is eternal life through Jesus:

Romans 5:12, 21 "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: {21} That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord."

Galatians 6:7-9 "Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. {8} For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting. {9} And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."

Romans 7:1 "Know ye not, { brethren, (for I speak to them that know the [ law ],) how that the [ law ] hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth? }"

WHAT: THE LAW HAS DOMINION OVER A MAN AS LONG AS HE LIVES

The law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth:

See my papers: "Questions & Answers on Law, Faith, & Liberty" for more information on this subject.

Galatians 4:21 "Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?"

Galatians 5:3-4 "For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. {4} Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace."

Romans 7:2 "For { the woman which hath an husband is bound by the [ law ] to <her> husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the [ law ] of <her> husband. }"

Romans 7:3 "So then if, { while <her> husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress: but if her husband be dead, she is free from that [ law ]; so that she is no adulteress, though she be married to another man.}"

TIME: WHILE

See my papers: "Marriage, Divorce, & Re-marriage" for more information on this subject.

Romans 7:4 "Wherefore, my { brethren, ye also are become dead to the [ law ] by the body of T Christ T; that ye should be married to another, <even> to T him T who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto /\ God /\. }"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ye are dead to the law by the body of Christ, ye be married to Jesus

Galatians 2:19-20 "For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God. {20} I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."

Romans 7:5 "For when we were in the flesh, the motions of [ sins ], which were by the [ law ], did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death."

When in the flesh, motions of sins, by the law, members bring dead:

Romans 6:13 "Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God."

Colossians 3:5 "Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:"

THEME:WE ARE DELIVERED FROM THE LAW, BEING DEAD, TO SERVE IN NEWNESS OF SPIRIT

Romans 7:6 "But now we are delivered from the [ law ], that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not <in> the oldness of the letter."

WAY: WE ARE DELIVERED FROM THE LAW, BEING DEAD, TO SERVE IN NEWNESS OF SPIRIT

We are delivered from the law, being dead wherein we were held:

Colossians 2:20-22 "Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, {21} (Touch not; taste not; handle not; {22} Which all are to perish with the using;) after the commandments and doctrines of men?"

Romans 7:7 "What shall we say then? <is> the [ law ] [ sin ]? /\ God /\ forbid. Nay, I had not known [ sin ], but by the [ law ]: for I had not known lust, except the [ law ] had said, Thou shalt not covet."

Is the law sin? Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law:

See my papers: "What Does God Really Want?" for more information on this subject.

Romans 3:20-21 "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. {21} But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;"

Romans 4:14-15 "For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: {15} Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression."

Galatians 3:19-21 "Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator. {20} Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one. {21} Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law."

Romans 7:8 "But [ sin ], taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the [ law ] [ sin ] <was> dead."

Sin, taking occasion by the commandment, without law sin was dead:

Romans 4:15 "Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression."

Romans 7:9 "For I was alive without the [ law ] once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died."

I was alive without the law once: when commandment came sin revived:

Galatians 3:10 "For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them."

James 2:10 "For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all."

Romans 7:10 "And the commandment, which <was ordained> to life, I found <to be> unto death."

Romans 7:11 "For [ sin ], taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew <me>."

Romans 7:12 "Wherefore the [ law ] <is> holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good."

The law is holy, the commandment holy, just, good:

Romans 3:31 "Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law."

1 Timothy 1:8-9 "But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; {9} Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers,"

Romans 7:13 "Was then that which is good made death unto me? /\ God /\ forbid. But [ sin ], that it might appear [ sin ] , working death in me by that which is good; that [ sin ] by the commandment might become exceeding [ sinful ]."

Which is good make death to me? No. Sin, working death in me:

Galatians 3:21 "Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law."

James 1:14-15 "But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed; {15} Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CONTRAST: {ROMANS 7:14-25} LAW -> SPIRITUAL VERSUS CARNAL -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LAW IS SPIRITUAL {14} -> A LAW THAT WHEN I WOULD DO GOOD - EVIL IS PRESENT WITHIN ME {21} -> I DELIGHT IN LAW OF GOD IN INWARD MAN {22} -> I THROUGH JESUS {25} -> IN MY MIND - I SERVE LAW OF GOD {25}

I AM CARNAL {14} -> SOLD UNDER SIN {14} -> WHAT I DO - I DO NOT UNDERSTAND {15} -> WHAT I WANT TO DO - I DO NOT DO {15} -> WHAT I HATE - THAT I DO {15} -> THEREFORE, I AGREE THAT THE LAW IS GOOD {16} -> IT IS NO LONGER I THAT DO IT BUT SIN IN ME THAT - DOES IT {17} -> IN MY FLESH - DWELLS NO GOOD THING {18} -> TO WILL IS PRESENT WITH ME {18} -> BUT HOW TO DO GOOD - I DO NOT KNOW {18} -> THE GOOD I WOULD DO - THAT I DO NOT DO {19} -> EVIL WHICH I WOULD NOT DO - THAT I DO {19} -> I SEE A LAW IN MY MEMBERS WARRING AGAINST THE LAW OF MIND {23} -> BRING ME CAPTIVE TO THE LAW OF SIN IN ME {23} -> WHO SHALL DELIVER ME FROM THIS BODY OF DEATH {24} -> WITH THE FLESH - I SERVE THE FLESH THE LAW OF SIN {25}

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Romans 7:14 "For { we know that the [ law ] is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.}"

We know that the law is spiritual: I am carnal:

1 Corinthians 3:1-3 "And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. {2} I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able. {3} For ye are yet carnal: for whereas there is among you envying, and strife, and divisions, are ye not carnal, and walk as men?"

Hebrews 4:12 "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

Romans 7:15 "For { that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.}"

That I do, I allow not: what I would, that I do not, I hate...I do:

Romans 12:9-10 "Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. {10} Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;"

Galatians 5:17-18 "For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. {18} But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law."

2 Timothy 2:19 "Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity."

1 John 1:7-9 "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. {8} If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. {9} If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

Romans 7:16 "{ If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the [ law ] that <it is> good.}"

Romans 7:17 "Now then { it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me.}"

It is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me:

Philippians 3:8-9 "Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, {9} And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:"

Romans 7:18 "For { I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but <how> to perform that which is good I find not.}"

I know that in me (my flesh) dwelleth no good is present in me:

See my paper: "Born with Sin/Father is Devil (Prior to Re-birth)" for more information on this subject.

Galatians 5:24 "And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts."

Ephesians 2:1, 5 "And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins: {5} Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)"

Romans 7:19 "For { the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.}"

Romans 7:20 "Now { if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but [ sin ] that dwelleth in me.}"

Good that I would I do not, evil which I would not, that I do; I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin in me:

Galatians 5:16-18 "This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. {17} For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. {18} But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law."

Ephesians 2:3-4 "Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others. {4} But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,"

Romans 7:21 "{ I find then a [ law ], that, when I would do good, evil is present with me.}"

I find then a law which I would do good, evil is present with me:

John 8:34 "Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin."

Romans 7:22 "For { I delight in the [ law ] of /\ God /\ after the inward man:}"

I delight in the law of God after the inward man:

Romans 2:29 "But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God."

Hebrews 8:10 "For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:"

Romans 7:23 "But { I see another law in my members, warring against the [ law ] of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the [ law ] of [ sin ] which is in my members.}"

I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind

Bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members

Romans 6:13-14 "Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. {14} For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace."

1 Peter 2:11 "Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;"

Romans 7:24 "{ O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death?}"

Who shall deliver me from the body of this death?:

2 Timothy 4:18 "And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen."

Titus 2:13-14 "Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; {14} Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works."

Romans 7:25 "{ I thank /\ God /\ through M Jesus M T Christ T our /\ Lord /\. So then with the mind I myself serve the [ law ] of /\ God /\; but with the flesh the [ law ] of sin.}"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

With the mind I serve the law of God, with the flesh the law of sin

Galatians 5:17-19 "For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. {18} But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. {19} Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness," etc.

Romans 8:1 "<There is> therefore now no condemnation to them which are in M Jesus M T Christ T, who walk not after the flesh, but after the /\ Spirit /\."

[ CONCLUSION: ] THEREFORE

No condemnation to any in Jesus who walk not after flesh but spirit

John 3:18 "He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

John 5:24 "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life."

Galatians 3:13 "Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:"

Romans 8:2 "For the [ law ] of the /\ Spirit /\ of life in M Jesus M T Christ T hath made me free from the [ law ] of [ sin ] and death."

Law of the Spirit of life in Christ made me free from law of sin:

See my papers: "Questions & Answers on Law, Faith & Liberty" for more information on this subject.

John 8:36 "If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."

2 Corinthians 3:6 "Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life."

Romans 8:3 "For what the [ law ] could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, /\ God /\ sending his own /\ Son /\ in the likeness of [ sinful ] flesh, and for sin, condemned [ sin ] in the flesh:"

Law could not do, weak through flesh, Jesus in flesh for sin:

Galatians 3:21 "Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law."

Romans 8:4 "That the [ righteousness ] of the [ law ] might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the /\ [ Spirit ] /\ ."

THEME: THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF LAW IS FULFILLED IN US NOT AFTER FLESH, BUT SPIRIT

WHAT: THE RIGHTEOUSNESS OF LAW IS FULFILLED IN US NOT AFTER FLESH, BUT SPIRIT

Righteousness of the law be fulfilled in us, not in flesh but Spirit:

See my papers: Salvation Word Biblical Glossary" for more information on this subject.

{4} For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth."

Galatians 5:16 "This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CONTRAST: {ROMANS 8:5-13} FLESHLY MAN VERSUS SPIRITUAL MAN -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

FLESHLY MAN {5} -> THINGS OF FLESH {5} -> CARNAL MINDED {6} -> DEATH {6} -> ENMITY AGAINST GOD {7} -> NOT SUBJECT TO LAW {7} -> CAN NOT PLEASE GOD {8} -> NONE OF HIS {9} -> BODY IS DEAD BECAUSE OF SIN {10} -> IN FLESH DEBTORS TO FLESH {12} -> DIE {13}

SPIRITUALLY MAN {5} -> THINGS OF THE SPIRIT {5} -> SPIRITUAL MINDED {6} -> LIFE AND PEACE {6} -> SPIRIT OF GOD WITHIN {9} -> SPIRIT IS ALIVE BECAUSE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS {10} -> MADE ALIVE BODY {11} -> MORTIFY DEEDS OF THE BODY {13} -> LIVE {13}

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Romans 8:5 "For { they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the /\ [ Spirit ] /\ the things of the /\ [ Spirit ] /\ . }"

They of flesh, fleshly things & they of Spirit, Spiritual things:

Galatians 5:17 "For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would."

Romans 8:6 "For { to be carnally minded <is> death; but to be spiritually minded <is> life and peace. }"

Carnally minded is death, spiritually minded is life & peace:

Galatians 5:19-23 "Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, {20} Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, {21} Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. {22} But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, {23} Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."

Romans 8:7 "Because { the carnal mind <is> enmity against God }: for it is not subject to the [ law ] of /\ God /\, neither indeed can be."

Carnal mind is enmity against God, not subject to law of God (can't)

Colossians 1:21 "And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled"

Romans 8:8 "So then { they that are in the flesh cannot please /\ God /\ }."

They that are in the flesh cannot please God:

John 3:5-6 "Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. {6} That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit."

Colossians 1:10 "That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;"

Hebrews 11:6 "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."

Romans 8:9 "But { ye are not in the flesh, but in the /\ [ Spirit ] /\, if so be that the /\ [ Spirit ] /\ of /\ God /\ dwell in you.} Now if any man have not the /\ [ Spirit ] /\ of T Christ T, he is none of his."

Ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit:

1 Corinthians 6:19 "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?"

Ephesians 1:13 "In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,"

Spirit of Christ:

See my papers: "Triunity" for more information on this subject.

Galatians 4:6 "And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father."

Romans 8:10 "And { if T Christ T <be> in you, the body <is> dead because of [ sin ]; but the /\ Spirit /\ <is> life because of [ righteousness ]. }"

WAY: IF CHRIST IN YOU, THE BODY IS DEAD OF SIN, THE SPIRIT IS LIFE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

If Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin:

1 Corinthians 6:20 "For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."

2 Corinthians 4:11-12 "For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. {12} So then death worketh in us, but life in you."

The Spirit is life because of righteousness:

Philippians 3:9 "And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:"

Romans 8:11 "But if the /\ [ Spirit ] /\ of him that raised up M Jesus M from the dead dwell in you, /\ [ he ] /\ that raised up T Christ T from { the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by T his T /\ [ Spirit ] /\ that dwelleth in you.}"

He that raised up Christ from the dead, quicken your mortal body:

2 Corinthians 4:14 "Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you."

Ephesians 2:5 "Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)"

Romans 8:12 "Therefore, { brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.}"

CONCLUSION: THEREFORE

Romans 8:13 "For { if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the /\ [ Spirit ] /\ do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.} "

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If ye live after flesh, ye shall die:

James 1:14-15 "But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. {15} Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death."

If ye by the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live

Galatians 5:24-25 "And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. {25} If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Romans 8:14 "For { as many as are led by the /\ [ Spirit ] /\ of /\ God /\, they are the sons of /\ God /\.}"

As many as are led by the Spirit of God:

Galatians 5:17-18 "For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. {18} But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law."

They are the sons of God:

Galatians 3:26 "For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus."

Revelation 21:7 "He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son."

Romans 8:15 "For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but { ye have received the /\ [ Spirit ] /\ of [ adoption ], whereby we cry, Abba, /\ God /\.}"

Ye have received the Spirit of adoption:

Galatians 4:5 "To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

Whereby we cry, Abba, Father:

Galatians 4:6-7 "And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. {7} Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ."

Romans 8:16 "The /\ Spirit /\ itself beareth witness with our spirit, that { we are the children of /\ God /\:}"

Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, we are God's children:

Romans 8:26 "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered."

Romans 8:17 "{ if children, then heirs; heirs of /\ God /\, and joint-heirs with T Christ T; if so be that we suffer with <T him T>, that we may be also glorified together.}"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If children, then heirs; heirs of God, joint-heirs with Christ:

Galatians 3:29 "And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise."

Titus 3:7 "That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life."

If we suffer with Him, we may be also glorified together:

Philippians 1:29 "For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;"

2 Timothy 2:10 "Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory."

Romans 8:18 "For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time <are> not worthy <to be compared> with the { glory } which shall be revealed in us."

Sufferings of this present time are not worthy compared with glory which shall be revealed in us:

1 Peter 1:6-7 "Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: {7} That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:"

Romans 8:19 "For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of /\ God /\."

Earnest expectation of creature waits for manifestation of Gods son:

Philippians 1:20 "According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death."

1 John 3:2 "Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is."

Romans 8:20 "For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who hath subjected <the same> in hope,"

Romans 8:21 "Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of /\ God /\."

Romans 8:22 "For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now."

Whole creation groaneth & travaileth in pain together until now:

Colossians 1:23 "If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;"

Romans 8:23 "And not only <they>, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the /\ [ Spirit ] /\, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the [ adoption ], <to wit>, the redemption of our body."

Ourselves have firstfruits of the Spirit, we groan within ourselves:

Romans 5:5 "And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us."

2 Corinthians 5:5 "Now he that hath wrought us for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath given unto us the earnest of the Spirit."

Ephesians 1:14 "Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory."

Ephesians 5:9 "(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)"

Waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body:

Philippians 3:20-21 "For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: {21} Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself."

1 John 3:2 "Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is."

Romans 8:24 "For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?"

We are saved by hope: hope that is seen is not seen, why he hope:

2 Corinthians 4:18 "While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal."

2 Corinthians 5:7 "(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)"

Galatians 5:5 "For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith."

Hebrews 6:18-19 "That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: {19} Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil;"

Hebrews 11:1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."

Romans 8:25 "But if we hope for that we see not, <then> do we with patience wait for <it>."

Romans 8:26 "Likewise the /\ [ Spirit ] /\ also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the /\ Spirit /\ itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered."

WAY: THE SPIRIT HELPS OUR INFIRMITIES BY MAKING INTERCESSION FOR US

Spirit helps our infirmities: we know we should pray as we ought:

John 14:16 "And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;"

Hebrews 4:15-16 "For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. {16} Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."

Spirit makes intercession for us by groaning that can't be uttered: See also Romans 8:34

1 Timothy 2:5 "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;"

1 John 2:1 "My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:"

Romans 8:27 "And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what <is> the mind of the /\ [ Spirit ] /\, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to <the will of> /\ God /\."

He that searched the heart knows what the mind of the Spirit:

Isaiah 53:12 "Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors."

Matthew 10:20 "For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you."

Ephesians 6:18 "Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;"

He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God:

Hebrews 7:25 "Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them."

Word of God hath taken none effect:

See my paper: "God's Word/Bible/Scriptures" for more information on this subject.

Matthew 24:35 "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away."

John 10:35 "If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;"

They are not all Israel, which are of Israel:

See my paper: "Israel & Jewish People in God's Plan" for more information on this subject.

Romans 2:28-29 "For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: {29} But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God."

Romans 9:7 "Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, <are they> all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be [ called ]."

See my paper: "Justification of Faith - Old Testament Doctrine" for more information on this subject.

John 8:37-39 "I know that ye are Abraham's seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you. {38} I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father. {39} They answered and said unto him, Abraham is our father. Jesus saith unto them, If ye were Abraham's children, ye would do the works of Abraham."

Philippians 3:3 "For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh."

In Isaac shall thy seed be called:

Luke 3:8 "Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham."

They which are the children of the flesh:

Galatians 4:22-23 "For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. {23} But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise."

These are not the children of God..the children of the promise:

Romans 4:13-16 "For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. {14} For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: {15} Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. {16} Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,"

Counted for the seed:

John 1:13 "Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."

The purpose of God according to according to election might stand not of works, but of him that calleth:

See my paper: "Salvation Biblical Word Glossary" for more information on this subject.

Romans 11:5-7 "Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. {6} And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work. {7} What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded"

Ephesians 1:4-5 "According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: {5} Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,"

Romans 9:12 "It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger."

The elder shall serve the younger:

Romans 9:13 "As it is written, Jacob have /\ I /\ loved, but Esau have /\ I /\ hated."

It is written, Jacob have I loved, but Esau have I hated:

Malachi 1:2-3 "I have loved you, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? Was not Esau Jacob's brother? saith the LORD: yet I loved Jacob, {3} And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness."

Romans 9:15 "For /\ he /\ saith to Moses, /\ I /\ will have mercy on whom /\ I /\ will have mercy, and /\ I /\ will have compassion on whom /\ I /\ will have compassion."

I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion:

Romans 9:16 "So then <it is> not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of /\ God /\ that showeth mercy."

It is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God:

John 1:12-13 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: {13} Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God."

Philippians 2:13 "For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure."

Romans 9:20 "Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against /\ God /\? Shall the thing formed say to /\ God /\ that formed <it>, Why hast thou made me thus?"

Job 23:13-14 "But he is in one mind, and who can turn him? and what his soul desireth, even that he doeth. {14} For he performeth the thing that is appointed for me: and many such things are with him."

The thing formed say to him that formed it, why hast thou made me:

Isaiah 29:16 "Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter's clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?"

Romans 9:21 "Hath not the potter power over the clay, of the same lump to make one vessel unto honour, and another unto dishonour?"

Hath not the potter power over the clay..same lump to make one vessel to honour, and another to dishonour:

See my paper: "God's Plans for His Purpose. Who Harden Pharaoh's Heart?" for more information on this subject.

Isaiah 45:9-10 "Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands? {10} Woe unto him that saith unto his father, What begettest thou? or to the woman, What hast thou brought forth?"

Romans 9:22 "<What> if /\ God /\, willing to show <his> wrath, and to make /\ his /\ power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:"

God, willing to show his wrath to make his power known:

Revelation 6:16-17 "And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: {17} For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?"

Vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:

Romans 1:18-19 "For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; {19} Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath showed it unto them."

WHAT: CALLING OF JEWS & GENTILES

Romans 9:24 "Even us, whom /\ he /\ hath [ called ], not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?"

Whom he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the gentiles

See my paper: "Salvation Biblical Word Glossary" for more information on this subject.

Romans 8:28-30 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. {29} For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. {30} Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified."

1 Corinthians 1:9 "God is faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord."

Romans 9:25 "As /\ he /\ saith also in Osee, /\ I /\ will call them /\ my /\ people, which were not /\ my /\ people; and her beloved, which was not beloved."

He saith of Osee, I call them my people, which aren't my people:

Hosea 2:23 "And I will sow her unto me in the earth; and I will have mercy upon her that had not obtained mercy; and I will say to them which were not my people, Thou art my people; and they shall say, Thou art my God."

1 Peter 2:10 "Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy."

Romans 9:26 "And it shall come to pass, <that> in the place where it was said unto them, Ye <are> not /\ my /\ people; there shall they be called the children of the living /\ God /\."

Romans 9:27 "Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:"

Esaias cries concerning Israel, number of children be sand of sea:

Isaiah 10:20-22 "And it shall come to pass in that day, that the remnant of Israel, and such as are escaped of the house of Jacob, shall no more again stay upon him that smote them; but shall stay upon the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth. {21} The remnant shall return, even the remnant of Jacob, unto the mighty God. {22} For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, yet a remnant of them shall return: the consumption decreed shall overflow with righteousness."

A remnant shall be saved:

Isaiah 1:9 "Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah."

Romans 11:4-5 "But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal. {5} Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace."

Romans 9:28 "For /\ he /\ will finish the work, and cut <it> short in [ righteousness ]: because a short work will the /\ Lord /\ make upon the earth."

Romans 9:29 "And as Esaias said before, Except the /\ Lord /\ of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha."

Esaias said: Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed:

Lamentations 3:22 "It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not."

We had been as Sodoma, made like Gomorrha:

2 Peter 2:6 "And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;"

Jude 1:7 "Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire."

KEY WORD: {ROMANS 9:30-10:10} RIGHTEOUSNESS

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(1) {9:30} Gentiles followed not after righteousness have attained righteousness by faith.

(2) {10:3} Ignorant of God's righteousness try to establish their own righteousness have not submitted to righteousness of God.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Romans 9:30 "What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after [ righteousness ], have attained to [ righteousness ], even the [ righteousness ] which is of [ faith ]."

Gentiles, have attained to righteousness, righteousness of faith:

Romans 4:11-12 "And he received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had yet being uncircumcised: that he might be the father of all them that believe, though they be not circumcised; that righteousness might be imputed unto them also: {12} And the father of circumcision to them who are not of the circumcision only, but who also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had being yet uncircumcised."

Ephesians 2:12 "That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:"

Ephesians 4:17 "This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,"

Romans 9:31 "But Israel, which followed after the [ law ] of [ righteousness ], hath not attained to the [ law ] of [ righteousness ]."

Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness:

Galatians 3:21 "Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law."

WHY: FAITH VERSUS WORKS OF LAW

Romans 9:32 "Wherefore? Because <they sought it> not by [ faith ], but as it were by the [ works ] of the [ law ]. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;"

Because it not by faith, by the works of the law, they stumbled:

See my paper: "Questions & Answers on Law, Faith, & Liberty" for more information on this subject.

Romans 4:16 "Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,"

Romans 10:3 "For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God."

Romans 9:33 "As it is written, Behold, /\ I /\ lay in Sion a stumblingstone and rock of offence: and whosoever believeth on /\ him /\ shall not be ashamed."

It is written, I lay in Sion a stumblingstone & rock of offence:

Psalms 118:22 "The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner."

Isaiah 28:16 "Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste."

Matthew 21:42 "Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?"

1 Peter 2:7-8 "Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, {8} And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed."

WH0: GOD; WH0M: ISRAEL

Romans 10:1 "Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to /\ God /\ for Israel is, that they might be [ saved ]."

My heart's desire & prayer to God for Israel is they might be saved

1 Corinthians 9:20-22 "And unto the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; {21} To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. {22} To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some."

Romans 10:2 "For I bear them record that they have a zeal of /\ God /\, but not according to knowledge."

I bear them record they have zeal of God not according to knowledge

Romans 10:3 "For they being ignorant of /\ God's /\ [ righteousness ], and going about to establish their own [ righteousness ], have not submitted themselves unto the [ righteousness ] of /\ God /\."

Being ignorant of God's righteousness, establish own righteousness have not submitted themselves to righteousness of God:

Luke 16:15 "And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God."

Galatians 5:3-5 "For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law. {4} Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace. {5} For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith."

H0W/WHAT: CHRIST IS END OF LAW FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS TO THOSE OF FAITH

Romans 10:4 "For T Christ T <is> the end of the [ law ] for [ righteousness ] to every one that believeth."

Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one believe

See my paper: "True Gospel for Salvation by the Imputed Righteousness of Jesus" for more information on this subject.

Philippians 3:9 "And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:"

WHY: RIGHTEOUSNESS OF LAW THAT MAN SHALL LIVE BY

Romans 10:5 "For Moses describeth the [ righteousness ] which is of the [ law ], That the man which doeth those things shall live by them."

Moses: righteousness of the law, man does those things live by them

Leviticus 18:5 "Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the LORD."

Righteousness which is of faith:

Say not in thy heart, who shall ascend to heaven? Bring Christ down

Who shall descend to the deep? To bring up Christ again from dead:

The word is nigh thee, in thy mouth, in thy heart, word of faith:

Deuteronomy 30:11-14 "For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off. {12} It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? {13} Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it? {14} But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it."

Romans 10:9 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the /\ Lord /\ M Jesus M, and shalt believe in thine heart that /\ God /\ hath raised T him T from the dead, thou shalt be [ saved ]."

1 John 4:2-3 "Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: {3} And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world."

Romans 10:10 "For with the heart man believeth unto [ righteousness ]; and with the mouth confession is made unto [ salvation ]."

With the heart man believes unto righteousness, with mouth confession is made unto salvation:

Romans 10:18 "But (1) I say, Have they not heard? Yes verily, (2) their sound went into all the earth, and (3) their words unto the ends of the world."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Their sound went into all the earth:

B) GOD'S RIGHTEOUSNESS GIVEN ISRAEL: {ROMANS 11:1-36}

WHOM: GOD; WHO: ISRAEL BELIEVERS

Romans 11:1 "I say then, Hath /\ God /\ cast away his people? /\ God /\ forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, <of> the tribe of Benjamin."

Hath God cast away His people? God forbid:

Hosea 9:17 "My God will cast them away, because they did not hearken unto him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations."

I also am an Israelite, seed of Abraham, tribe of Benjamin:

2 Corinthians 11:22 "Are they Hebrews? so am I. Are they Israelites? so am I. Are they the seed of Abraham? so am I."

WHAT: GOD FOREKNEW BELIEVERS

Romans 11:2 "/\ God /\ hath not cast away /\ his /\ people which /\ he /\ [ foreknew ]. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to /\ God /\ against Israel, saying,"

God hath not cast away His people which He foreknew:

Acts 15:18 "Known unto God are all his works from the beginning of the world."

Romans 8:29-30 "For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. {30} Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified."

1 Peter 1:2 "Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied."

Elias: he makes intercession to God against Israel saying:

1 Kings 19:14 "And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: because the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away."

Romans 11:3 "Lord, they have killed /\ thy /\ prophets, and digged down /\ thine /\ altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life."

They have killed thy prophets, digged down thine altars, I am left:

1 Kings 19:10 "And he said, I have been very jealous for the LORD God of hosts: for the children of Israel have forsaken thy covenant, thrown down thine altars, and slain thy prophets with the sword; and I, even I only, am left; and they seek my life, to take it away."

Romans 11:4 "But what saith the answer of /\ God /\ unto him? /\ I /\ have reserved to /\ myself /\ seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to <the image of> Baal."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CONTRAST: {ROMANS 11:5-11:6} GRACE VERSUS WORKS -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(1) REMNANT TO ELECTION OF GRACE {11:5} -> (2) BY GRACE {11:6} -> (3) NO MORE OF WORKS {11:6} -> (4) OR GRACE IS NOT GRACE {11:6} -> (5) IF OF WORKS NO MORE OF GRACE {11:6} -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Romans 11:5 "Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the [ election ] of [ grace ]."

The present time there is a remnant according to election of grace:

See my paper: "Grace" for more information on this subject.

Romans 9:11 "(For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)"

Ephesians 1:5-6 "Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, {6} To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved."

Romans 11:6 "And if by [ grace ], then <is it> no more of [ works ]: otherwise [ grace ] is no more [ grace ]. But if <it be> of [ works ], then is it no more [ grace ]: otherwise [ work ] is no more [ work ]."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If by grace, then is it no more of works:

See my paper: "Questions & Answers on Law, Faith, & Liberty" for more information on this subject.

Ephesians 2:8-9 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: {9} Not of works, lest any man should boast."

2 Timothy 1:9 "Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,"

WHY: ISRAEL HATH NOT OBTAINED, BUT ELECTION HATH OBTAINED

Romans 11:7 "What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the [ election ] hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded"

Israel hath not obtained..seeketh for..election hath obtained it:

See my paper: "Salvation Biblical Word Glossary" for more information on this subject.

Luke 13:23-24 "Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them, {24} Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able."

Romans 9:31-32 "But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. {32} Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;"

The rest were blinded:

2 Corinthians 3:14-15 "But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same veil untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which veil is done away in Christ. {15} But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart."

2 Corinthians 4:4 "In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them."

WHEN: BLINDNESS UNTIL THE FULNESS OF GENTILES COME IN

Romans 11:25 "For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in."

Ye be ignorant of this mystery:

Ephesians 3:3-4 "How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, {4} Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)"

Blindness is part is happened to Israel, until fulness of Gentiles:

PRACTICAL CHRISTIAN DUTIES (SERVICE OF SALVATION): {ROMANS 12:1-16:27}

A) THE LAW IS COMPLETE BY LOVE: {ROMANS 12:1-21}

[ CONCLUSION: ] THEREFORE

Romans 12:1 "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of /\ God /\, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto /\ God /\, <which is> your reasonable service."

Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God:

Romans 6:13, 16, 19 "Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. {16} Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness? {19} I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness."

Romans 12:2 "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what <is> that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of /\ God /\."

Be not conformed to this world:

James 4:4 "Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God."

1 Peter 4:2 "That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God."

1 John 2:15-17 "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. {16} For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. {17} And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever."

1 John 4:4 "Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world."

Be ye transformed by renewing of your mind, prove what is good:

Romans 13:14 "But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof."

2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

Colossians 1:21-22 "And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled {2] In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:"

Perfect, will of God:

Ephesians 5:9 "(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)"

1 Thessalonians 4:3 "For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:"

WHAT: EVERY MAN NOT TO BE PROUD

Romans 12:3 "For I say, through the [ grace ] given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think <of himself> more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as /\ God /\ hath dealt to every man the measure of [ faith ]."

WAY: EVERY MAN'S GIVEN THE MEASURE OF FAITH

Through the grace given unto me:

See my paper: "Grace" for more information on this subject.

1 Corinthians 15:10 "But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me."

Ephesians 3:2, 7 "If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: {7} Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power."

Ephesians 4:7 "But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ."

Think not more highly then you should. Think soberly:

Galatians 6:3 "For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself."

James 4:5-6 "Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? {6} But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble."

God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith:

See my paper: "Holy Spirit Baptism" for more information on this subject.

1 Corinthians 4:7 "For who maketh thee to differ from another? and what hast thou that thou didst not receive? now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it?"

1 Corinthians 12:7, 11 "But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. {11} But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will."

2 Thessalonians 3:2 "And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith."

Romans 12:4 "For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:"

Many members in one body, with not the same office:

1 Corinthians 12:4, 12-14, 27 "Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. {12}

For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. {13} For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. {14} For the body is not one member, but many. {27} Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular."

Romans 12:5 "So we, <being> many, are one body in T Christ T, and every one members one of another."

Many, are one body in Christ, & every one members one of another:

1 Corinthians 10:17 "For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread."

Ephesians 4:15-16 "But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: {16} From whom the whole body fitly joined together and compacted by that which every joint supplieth, according to the effectual working in the measure of every part, maketh increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love."

Colossians 2:19 "And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God."

WAY: DIFFERENT GIFTS

Romans 12:6 "Having then gifts differing according to the [ grace ] that is given to us, whether prophecy, <let us prophesy> according to the proportion of [ faith ];"

Having gifts differing according to the grace giving us:

1 Timothy 1:14 "And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus."

Prophecy:

Ephesians 3:5 "Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;"

Ephesians 4:11 "And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;"

Romans 12:7 "Or ministry, <let us wait> on <our> ministering: or he that teacheth, on teaching;"

Ministry:

2 Timothy 4:2 "Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine."

Teaching:

1 Timothy 5:17 "Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine."

Romans 12:8 "Or he that exhorteth, on exhortation: he that giveth, <let him do it> with simplicity; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that showeth mercy, with cheerfulness."

Exhorting:

Hebrews 10:25 "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."

Giving:

2 Corinthians 9:7 "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver."

1 Peter 4:10 "As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God."

Ruler:

Hebrews 13:17 "Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you."

1 Peter 5:3 "Neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock."

Shows mercy:

Romans 11:31 "Even so have these also now not believed, that through your mercy they also may obtain mercy."

Colossians 1:27 "To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:"

Titus 2:13 "Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;"

Continuing instant in prayer:

See my paper: "Prayer" for more information on this subject.

Colossians 4:2-3 "Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving; {3} Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:"

1 John 5:14-15 "And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: {15} And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him."

Romans 12:13 "(12) Distributing to the necessity of saints; (13) given to hospitality."

Romans 12:14 "(14) Bless them which persecute you: (15) bless, and (16) curse not."

Bless them which persecute you: bless and curse not:

1 Peter 3:9 "Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing."

Romans 12:15 "(17) Rejoice with them that do rejoice, and (18) weep with them that weep."

Rejoice with them that do rejoice & weep with them that weep:

2 Corinthians 2:3 "And I wrote this same unto you, lest, when I came, I should have sorrow from them of whom I ought to rejoice; having confidence in you all, that my joy is the joy of you all."

Romans 12:16 "(19) <Be> of the same mind one toward another. (20) Mind not high things, but (21) condescend to men of low estate. (22) Be not wise in your own conceits."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Be of the same mind toward one another. Mind not high things:

Philippians 2:2-3 "Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. {3} Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves."

1 Peter 3:8 "Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:"

WHAT: CHRISTIAN CONDUCT TO OTHERS --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LIST: {ROMANS 12:17-21} CHRISTIAN RELATIONSHIPS TO THE WORLD (1-9)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Romans 12:17 "(1) Recompense to no man evil for evil. (2) Provide things honest in the sight of all men."

Recompense to no man evil for evil:

1 Thessalonians 5:15 "See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men."

1 Peter 3:9 "Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing."

Romans 12:18 "If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, (3) live peaceably with all men."

Romans 12:19 "Dearly beloved, (4) avenge not yourselves, but <rather> (5) give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance <is> mine; I will repay, saith the Lord."

Avenge not yourself, It's written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay:

Hebrews 10:30 "For we know him that hath said, Vengeance belongeth unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people."

[ CONCLUSION: ] THEREFORE

Romans 12:20 "Therefore (6) if thine enemy hunger, feed him; (7) if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head."

If thine enemy hunger, feed him; give him drink that shalt heap coals of fire on his head:

Proverbs 25:21-2 "If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink: {22} For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee."

Romans 12:21 "(8) Be not overcome of evil, (9) but overcome evil with good."

B) CHRIST'S RIGHTEOUSNESS THROUGH CHRISTIANITY: {ROMANS 13:1-16:27}

Romans 13:1 "Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of /\ God /\: the powers that be are ordained of /\ God /\."

Let every soul be subject unto higher powers. No power but God:

Ephesians 5:21 "Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God."

Titus 3:1 "Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,"

WHAT: RESISTED GOD

Romans 13:2 "Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of /\ God /\: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation."

Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth God's ordinance:

Titus 3:1 "Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,"

1 Peter 2:13-14 "Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; {14} Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well."

WHY: RULERS TERROR TO EVIL

Romans 13:3 "For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:"

Romans 13:4 "For he is the minister of /\ God /\ to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of /\ God /\, a revenger to <execute> wrath upon him that doeth evil."

Romans 13:5 "Wherefore <ye> must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake."

Romans 13:6 "For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are /\ God's /\ ministers, attending continually upon this very thing."

Pay ye tribute:

Ezra 4:13 "Be it known now unto the king, that, if this city be builded, and the walls set up again, then will they not pay toll, tribute, and custom, and so thou shalt endamage the revenue of the kings."

Romans 13:7 "Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute <is due>; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour."

Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due:

Luke 20:25 "And he said unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which be Caesar's, and unto God the things which be God's."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CONTRAST: {ROMANS 13:8} LOVE FULFILLS THE LAW

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Romans 13:8 "Owe no man any thing, but to [ love ] one another: for he that [ loveth ] another hath fulfilled the [ law ]."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Owe no man any thing, but to love one another:

Matthew 7:12 "Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets."

He that loveth another hath fulfilled the law:

Matthew 22:39-40 "And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."

{40} On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LIST: {ROMANS 13:9} LAWS (1-6)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Romans 13:9 "For this, (1) Thou shalt not commit adultery, (2) Thou shalt not kill, (3) Thou shalt not steal, (4) Thou shalt not bear false witness, (5) Thou shalt not covet; and if <there be> any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, (6) Thou shalt [ love ] thy neighbour as thyself."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Not: commit adultery, kill, steal, bear false witness, covet:

Luke 18:20 "Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother."

Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself:

Leviticus 19:18, 34 "Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I am the LORD. {34} But the stranger that dwelleth with you shall be unto you as one born among you, and thou shalt love him as thyself; for ye were strangers in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God."

Luke 10:27-28 "And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. {28} And he said unto him, Thou hast answered right: this do, and thou shalt live."

James 2:8-10 "If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: {9} But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors. {10} For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all."

[ CONCLUSION: ] THEREFORE

Romans 13:10 "[ love ] worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore [ love ] <is> the fulfilling of the [ law ]."

Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: love is the fulfilling of law

See my paper: "Love" for more information on this subject.

Matthew 22:37-40 "Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. {38} This is the first and great commandment. {39} And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. {40} On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

WHEN: TIME

Romans 13:11 "And that, knowing the time, that now <it is> high time to awake out of sleep: for now <is> our [ salvation ] nearer than when we believed."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LIST: {ROMANS 13:12-14} CHRISTIAN CONDUCT (1-11)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Romans 13:12 "The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore (1) cast off the works of darkness, and (2) let us put on the armour of light."

Romans 13:13 "(3) Let us walk honestly, as in the day; (4) not in rioting and (5) drunkenness, (6) not in chambering and (7) wantonness, (8) not in strife and (9) envying."

Romans 13:14 "But (10) put ye on the /\ Lord /\ M Jesus M T Christ T, and (11) make not provision for the flesh, (12) to <fulfil> the lusts <thereof>."

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Put on the Lord Jesus Christ & make not provision for the flesh:

Ephesians 4:24 "And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness."

Colossians 3:10-11 "And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him: {11} Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all."

WHAT: JUDGE WEAK BROTHER

Romans 14:1 "Him that is weak in the [ faith ] receive ye, <but> not to doubtful disputations."

Weak in the faith:

1 Corinthians 3:1-2 "And I, brethren, could not speak unto you as unto spiritual, but as unto carnal, even as unto babes in Christ. {2} I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able."

1 Corinthians 9:22 "To the weak became I as weak, that I might gain the weak: I am made all things to all men, that I might by all means save some."

Romans 14:2 "For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs."

One believeth that he may eat all things:

1 Corinthians 8:7-13 "Howbeit there is not in every man that knowledge: for some with conscience of the idol unto this hour eat it as a thing offered unto an idol; and their conscience being weak is defiled. {8} But meat commendeth us not to God: for neither, if we eat, are we the better; neither, if we eat not, are we the worse. {9} But take heed lest by any means this liberty of yours become a stumblingblock to them that are weak. {10} For if any man see thee which hast knowledge sit at meat in the idol's temple, shall not the conscience of him which is weak be emboldened to eat those things which are offered to idols; {11} And through thy knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? {12} But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ. {13} Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend."

Romans 14:3 "Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for /\ God /\ hath received him."

WHY: JUDGE ANOTHER SERVANT

Romans 14:4 "Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for /\ God
