This paper discusses the book of Revelation. Revelation means an unveiling of Jesus
the Christ. The book is apocalyptic
(symbolic). We must use Revelation

VIEW
Revelation is one prophecy of the revealed
person of Jesus Christ as divined God, as redeemer, and as judge over His
creation, to John, that may include four visions each which start with the
phrase “in the spirit” as in Rev. 1:10, 4:2, 17:3, & 21:10.

John: This book is written by the Apostle John who also wrote the gospel of John and 1st, 2nd, & 3rd John's. He refers to himself in Revelation 1:1, 4, 9 & 22:8. Rev 1:9 talks of his exile at Palmos.

Revelation 1:3 "Blessed <is> he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time <is> at hand."
Blessed is .. readeth .. hear .. keep those things which are written:
Blessed (Beatitudes) = Goodness, happiness & life to the reader who keeps the word of this prophecy. Revelation discards either plagues or eternal death to anyone who adds or removes from this book. Seven beatitudes are found in Revelations: 1:3, 14:13, 16:15, 19:9, 20:6, 22:7 & 22:14.

Him which is .. which was .. which is to come: Just like the key verse Revelation 1:19 and also Revelation 1:8, the book talks to the past, present, and future events and Jesus our eternal God. These are three time periods that cover every and any time.

Midst .. seven candlestick .. son of man: The Son of used 88 times & Son used over 100 times in New Testament = last Adam = perfect man.
Clothed with a garment .. girt about the paps with a golden girdle:
Gold is symbolic of royalty = kingly = rich = purity = holiness.
Girdle is symbolic of a servant. Paps = chest.
Isaiah 11:5 "And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins." Jesus has righteousness.

Head and hair white like wool as snow:
White hair is symbolic of wisdom, dignity and maturity.
Wool as white is symbolic of purity.
Isaiah 1:18 "Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."
Eyes as a flame of fire:
Symbolic of judgment with penetrating insight, to make pure.

An Apostle is one sent by God, with power of attorney and authority, to act (with power) in place of sender. He was chosen and ordained to the position to be a witness of what God shows him.

Luke 23:43 "And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise." Jesus is on the cross. He tells the man on the cross next to him he will be in paradise.
2 Corinthians 12:3-4 "And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) {4} How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter." Paul's vision of a heavenly realm (third heaven - verse 2) where God is present.
B) SMYRNA CHURCH: PERSECUTED {REVELATION 2:8-11}
Smyrna means bitter or myrrh which is a sweet smell after crushed.
They had no need to repent (true of Philadelphia church also 2:7).
Revelation 2:8 "And unto the [ angel ] of the [ church ] in Smyrna write; These things saith the M first and the last M, which was dead, and is alive;"
First and the last, which was dead, and is alive: See also Revelation 1:8, 1:11 & 1:17. The God of the Old Testament is Jesus who died and was resurrected. He is alive now forevermore.
Micah 5:2 "But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, <though> thou be little among the thousands of Judah, <yet> out of thee shall he come forth unto me <that is> to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth <have been> from of old, from everlasting."
Revelation 2:9 "M I M know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and <M I M know> the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but <are> the synagogue of Satan."

Synagogue of Satan: Synagogue is a place where Jews worship. Satan is controlling this Synagogue. See also Revelation 3:9.

Balaam made a good confession in verse 18, but God already gave Balaam his word and Balaam should not have asked again. Balaam advised Midianites how to lead Israel astray by inter-marriage to gentiles and take false gods (idols) for money.
Number 31:8,16 "And they slew the kings of Midian, beside the rest of them that were slain; <namely>, Evi, and Rekem, and Zur, and Hur, and Reba, five kings of Midian: Balaam also the son of Beor they slew with the sword. {16} Behold, these caused the children of Israel, through the counsel of Balaam, to commit trespass against the LORD in the matter of Peor, and there was a plague among the congregation of the LORD."
2 Peter 2:15 "Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam <the son> of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;"

Nicolaitanes: See Revelation 2:6 for Nicolaitanes doctrines. God hates the Nicolaitanes. The Pergamos church has members whose beliefs God hates. He also does not like the Balaam doctrines.

Thyatira means daughter.

Son of God, who hath his eyes like unto a flame of fire, and his feet <are> like fine brass: See Revelation 1:14-15.
Revelation 2:19 "M I M know thy works, and charity, and service, and faith, and thy patience, and thy works; and the last <to be> more than the first."
Thy works, charity, service, faith, thy patience, and thy works:
Jesus has all knowledge of their works etc. The works were each better then earlier works.
Revelation 2:20 "Notwithstanding M I M have a few things against thee, because thou sufferest that [ woman ] Jezebel, which calleth herself a prophetess, to teach and to seduce M my M servants to commit fornication, and to eat things sacrificed unto idols."
Sufferest woman Jezebel .. prophetess .. teach .. seduce my servants .. commit fornication .. eat things sacrificed unto idols:
Jezebel was a wick queen of Israel (wife of Rehab). Elijah went against her priest with fire from heaven on their alter. They died. She died and her body was run over & eaten by dogs. This Jezebel type is a false prophetess. God word had them stoned to death.

Revelation 2:21 "And M I M gave her space to [ repent ] of her fornication; and she [ repented ] not."
I gave her space to repent of her fornication .. she repented not:

2 Corinthians 12:3-4 "And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) {4} How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter."
Revelation 4:3 "And /\ he /\ that sat was to look upon like a jasper and a sardine stone: and <there was> a rainbow round about the [ throne ], in sight like unto an emerald."
He .. Sat .. like jasper/sardine stone .. rainbow round throne .. like emerald:
Sardine (red color) stone found on High Priest's breastplate was used for first son (Reuben) which means "behold a son". Jasper (clear as crystal: Rev. 21:11) stone was for last son, Benjamin of
Israel & means "son of my right hand". Emerald (green color) stone also on breastplate was used for tribe of Judah. Judah, kingly tribe, means praised. Jesus was from the tribe of Judah. This could mean 1st & last (as in son), behold a son/son of my right hand, kingly/praised. Rainbow (all colors) bow has no break in it.
Revelation 4:4 "And round about the throne <were> four and twenty seats: and upon the seats [ I saw ] four and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment; and they had on their heads crowns of gold."
Round throne four & twenty seat/elders .. clothed in white .. head crown: Could be elder of twelve tribes and twelve apostles. The throne is in the center. These seats are positions of honor, status to God.
For crowns see Revelation 2:10.
Revelation 4:5 "And out of the throne proceeded [ lightnings ] and [ thunderings ] and [ voices ]: and <there were> [ seven ] lamps of fire burning before the [ throne ], which are the [ seven Spirits ] of /\ God /\."
Out of throne lightnings & thunderings & voices: Symbolic of God's majesty, power, and announcing some important event to follow. For thunder see: 4:5, 6:1, 8:5, 10:3-4, 11:19, 16:18, & 19:6.
Exodus 19:16-17 "And it came to pass on the third day in the morning, that there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that <was> in the camp trembled. {17} And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God; and they stood at the nether part of the mount."
Seven lamps of fire burning before throne are seven Spirits of God:
Energy sources: Lamp: light source; Fire: heat source also fire is used to clean, tried & punish; Seven Spirits: see Revelation 1:4.
Isaiah 11:2 "And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD"7 spirit

Sea of glass like unto crystal: Saints among the peoples of earth.
Crystal is symbol of perfection. It's clear as light. See Rev 21:11
Revelation 15:2 And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire: and them that had gotten the victory over the beast, and over his image, and over his mark, <and> over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God.
Four beasts full of eyes before and behind: Beasts = living ones.

Cherubims or angelic beings keep the way of the tree of life.

First beast - lion: Tribe of Judah - lion; Matthew's Gospel; denotes power, majesty & dominion.
Second beast - calf: Tribe of Ephraim - ox; Mark's Gospel; denotes suffering servant/sacrifice.
Third beast - face of man: Tribe of Reuben - man; Luke's Gospel; Son of man; Man - God; the highest creation.
Fourth beast - eagle: Tribe of Dan - Eagle; John's Gospel; Son of God; eagle represents divinity; denotes swiftness, far-sighted & elevation.

Revelation 4:8 "And the four [ beasts ] had each of them six wings about <him>; and <they were> full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, /\ Lord /\ /\ God /\ Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come."

Four beast had six wings:

Four beast rested not saying Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty:
Eyes denote seeing all; rest not denotes doings God's work continually; praising God always denotes on fire for the Lord; Seraphim = burning ones.
Revelation 4:9 "And when those [ beasts ] give { glory } and honour and thanks to /\ him /\ that sat on the [ throne ], /\ who /\ liveth for ever and ever," God is eternal. He never had beginning or ending.
Hebrews 13:8 "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever."

B) JESUS WORTHY TO OPEN BOOK
{REVELATION 5:1-14}
Revelation 5:1 "And [ I saw ] in the right hand of him that sat on the [ throne ] a book written within and on the backside, sealed with [ seven ] [ seals ]."
Right hand: Right hand symbolizes authority/control & highest respect/honor.
Book written within and on the backside: Denotes fullness or no open area to write more. Could be the same book as Revelation 10:8-11.
Ezekiel 2:8-3:3 "But thou, son of man, hear what I say unto thee; Be not thou rebellious like that rebellious house: open thy mouth, and eat that I give thee. {9} And when I looked, behold, an hand <was> sent unto me; and, lo, a roll of a book <was> therein; {10} And he spread it before me; and it <was> written within and without: and <there was> written therein lamentations, and mourning, and woe. {3:1} Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel. {2} So I opened my mouth, and he caused me to eat that roll. {3} And he said unto me, Son of man, cause thy belly to eat, and fill thy bowels with this roll that I give thee. Then did I eat <it>; and it was in my mouth as honey for sweetness."
Sealed with seven seals: Seven is number of secured completeness which only Jesus could open (Revelation 5:7-9).
Daniel 12:9 "And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words <are> closed up and sealed till the time of the end."
Daniel 12:4 "But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, <even> to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased."
Revelation 5:2 "And [ I saw ] a strong [ angel ] proclaiming with a loud [ voice ], Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the [ seals ] thereof?" Who is worthy: Jesus only.
Strong angel: Gabriel = strength of God.

WHAT:
I saw when the Lamb opened one of the
seals
Revelation 6:1 "And [ I saw ] when the [ Lamb ] opened one of the [ seals ], and I heard, as it were the noise of [ thunder ], one of the four [ beasts ] saying, Come and see." Thunder: see Revelation 4:5 notes.
Noise of thunder: God announcing something important will follow.
Come and see: Some believe the seals judgment starts the 7 years of God's wrath.
Revelation 6:2 "And [ I saw ], and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer." See white horse in Revelation 19:11.
White horse: Imitation Christ as 1000 peace years did not follow.
White is symbolic of victory and purity. For true Christ on white horse see Revelation 19:11, 14.
Had a bow: Weapon to make war and kill.
Crown..he went forth to conquer: Crown is victory over masses of people. 4 spirits in 4 horses: white horse = conquest
Revelation 6:3 "And when he had opened the second [ seal ], I heard the second [ beast ] say, Come and see."
Revelation 6:4 "And there went out another horse <that was> red: and <power> was given to him that sat thereon to take peace from the [ earth ], and that they should kill one another: and there was given unto him a great sword." Kill..sword: See Rev. 13:10.
Red horse..take peace from earth..kill one another: Spirit of bloodshed, death and war. Given: That God in control.
Zechariah 1:8-11 "I saw by night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that <were> in the bottom; and behind him <were there> red horses, speckled, and white. {9} Then said I, O my lord, what <are> these? Power was given to him: God gives the power.

Given unto him a great sword: The wicked used as a weapon of God.
Isaiah 10:5-6 "O Assyrian, the rod of mine anger, and the staff in their hand is mine indignation. {6} I will send him against an hypocritical nation, and against the people of my wrath will I give him a charge, to take the spoil, and to take the prey, and to tread them down like the mire of the streets."
Ezekiel 30:24 "And I will strengthen the arms of the king of Babylon, and put my sword in his hand: but I will break Pharaoh's arms, and he shall groan before him with the groanings of a deadly wounded <man>."

Black horse: Symbolizes famine; also mourning, woe and desolation.
Pair of balances: Indicates scarcity of food.
Ezekiel 4:16 "Moreover he said unto me, Son of man, behold, I will break the staff of bread in Jerusalem: and they shall eat bread by weight, and with care; and they shall drink water by measure, and with astonishment:"
Leviticus 26:26 "<And> when I have broken the staff of your bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall deliver <you> your bread again by weight: and ye shall eat, and not be satisfied."

Wheat..barley: Day's wage to feed one person; measure wheat; inflated prices.
Penny:
Matthew 20:2 "And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard."
Hurt not the oil and the wine: Limit to destruction by God until a later chapter.
Revelation 6:7 "And when he had opened the fourth [ seal ], I heard the [ voice ] of the fourth [ beast ] say, Come and see."
Revelation 6:8 "And I looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the [ beasts ] of the [ earth ]." Power see Rev. 6:4 above.
Pale horse: Symbolizes death and hell. Death by many sources. Hades = the place of departed people. Maybe gathering up the dead also. 1/4 people = billion + people. Most will be hell bound.

Revelation 12:1 "And
there appeared a great wonder in heaven; a [
woman ] clothed
with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and upon her head a
crown of twelve stars:"
Woman clothed with sun..moon under her feet..crown of twelve stars: Some
believe this is Israel, others the Church, & others the believers in
Israel. Sun symbolizes true light. Moon symbolize reflective light. Crown of
twelve stars: Rev 1:20 stars are angels or messengers.
Genesis 37:9-10 "And he
dreamed yet another dream, and told it his brethren, and said, Behold, I have
dreamed a dream more; and, behold, the sun and the moon and the eleven stars
made obeisance to me. {10} And he told <it> to his father, and
to his brethren: and his father rebuked him, and said unto him,
What <is> this dream that thou hast dreamed? Shall I and thy mother
and thy brethren indeed come to bow down ourselves to thee to the
earth?"

Genesis 37 except for three groups of Christians are mentioned in Revelation
12. – Woman, Manchild, Seed of Woman)
