I) SALUTATION: {JAMES 1:1}
WHO: James WHOM: Twelve tribes which are scattered
James 1:1 "James, a servant of /\ God /\ and of the /\ Lord /\ M Jesus M T Christ T, to the twelve tribes which are scattered abroad, greeting."
James: Three with name: James, brother of John, (Matthew 4:21, 10:2; killed by Herod 44 AD, Acts 12:1-2) called James the greater whose father was Zebedee and mother (Jesus Aunt) was Salome. James, the less (Matthew 10:3; Mark 3:18, 15:40), son of Alphaeus and brothers of Matthew and Jude whose mother was Mary (Jesus Aunt). James the half brother of Jesus (both having Mary as mother. However, Jesus father is God not Joseph (although Joseph becomes the adopted earthly father to Jesus as he married Mary before she gave birth to Jesus.) At first James and his brothers did not believe in Jesus and may have wanted him killed (John 7:1-9). Possibly married (1 Corinthians 9:5) and probably the oldest of Jesus brothers (Mark 6:3) since he leads the list. Also another of Jesus brothers, Jude, wrote a book of a Bible book of Jude. Jesus mother, Mary, may of been a believer and this was the reason Jesus turns her over to John (John 19:26-27) & not to his brothers.
Mark 6:3 "Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him." Half brother
John 7:5 "For neither did his brethren believe in him." Unbelief
Acts 1:13-14 "And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James. {14} These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren." True believer included several family members (James and Jude.)
Acts 15:13 "And after they had held their peace, James answered, saying, Men and brethren, hearken unto me:"
Acts 21:18 "And the <day> following Paul went in with us unto James; and all the elders were present." James, Jesus half brother, was the prime leader of church at Jerusalem. Acts 15:13
1 Corinthians 15:7 "After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles." Jesus resurrection makes a personal visit to His half brother James which probably produced his conversion to Christ.
Galatians 1:19 "But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother." Leader. Jesus half brother (same mother Mary only) is a prime leader of the church.
Galatians 2:9 "And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we <should go> unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision." 3 prime leaders of church
Jude 1:1 "Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:" Jude, Jesus half brother calls James his physical brother.
God and Lord Jesus Christ:
See my paper: "Triunity - Father, Son, & Holy Spirit" for more information on this subject.
See my paper: "Godhead Relationship" for more information on this subject.
Twelve tribes which are scattered: Israel has twelve tribes today. Nebuchadnezzar sieges caused the northern ten tribe to go into captivity. Only a small group of them returned to Israel. Jews have been found in most cities (Acts 2:5-9, 26:6) since. Here James' is referring to Hebrew Christians.
See my paper: "Twelve Tribe Prophecies" for more information on this subject.
II) A CHRISTIAN STAND: {JAMES 1:2-27}
James 1:2 "My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;" Brethren (15 times): 1:2, 1:16, 1:19; 2:1, 2:5, 2:14; 3:1, 3:10, 3:12; 4:11; 5:7, 5:9, 5:10, 5:12, & 5:19
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LIST: CHRISTIAN TESTING
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(1) {1:2} Brothers, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations
(2) {1:3} Knowing that the trying of your faith works patience
(3) {1:6} But ask in faith, not wavering, for he that wavers is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind & tossed
(4) {1:9} Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted
(5) {1:10} But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away
(6) {1:13} Let no man say I am tempted of God, for God cannot be tempted with evil, nor tempts any man
(7) {1:14} But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, & enticed
(8) {1:15} When lust has conceived, it brings sin & sin, brings death
(9) {1:19} Brothers, be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath
(10) {1:22} Be doers of the word, not hearers only, deceiving yourselves
(11) {1:26} If you are religious, bridles his tongue, or you be deceives of heart, & your religion is in vain
(12) {2:4} If you are partial in yourselves then you become judges of evil thoughts
(13) {2:10} For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all
(14) {2:14} What does it profit a man to say he has faith & not have works, can faith save him
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Joy:
Psalms 16:11 "Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence <is> fulness of joy; at thy right hand <there are> pleasures for evermore."
John 16:24 "Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full."
Temptations: Leads Christian's away from Christ unto worldliness.
1 Timothy 6:9 "But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and <into> many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition."
SERIES OF GROWTH: Trials or tests measure maturity of ones faith.
James 1:2-4, 1:12 Temptation -> Trying faith -> Patience -> Perfection -> Wanting nothing -> Receive Crown of life
James 1:14-15 Not from God: Tempted -> Man's Lust -> Enticed -> Sin -> Death
James 1:17-18, 1:22 From God: Good & Perfect Gift -> Word of Truth -> Doers of Word
Other Growth Series:
Tribulation -> patience -> experience -> hope -> not ashamed
Romans 5:1-5 "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: {2} By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. {3} And not only <so>, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; {4} And patience, experience; and experience, hope: {5} And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us."
Faith -> virtue -> knowledge -> temperance -> godliness -> brother kindness -> charity / love -> fruitful in knowing Jesus
2 Peter 1:4-8 "Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. {5} And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; {6} And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; {7} And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. {8} For if these things be in you, and abound, they make <you that ye shall> neither <be> barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
KEY WORD: FAITH
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(1) {1:3} Knowing that the trying of your faith works patience
(2) {1:6} Let him ask in faith, nothing wavering who is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind & tossed
(3) {2:1} The Christian faith has equal respect to all persons
(4) {2:5} Has not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith to be heirs of the kingdom
(5) {2:14} Does it profit a man if he say he hath faith and have not works? can faith save him?
(6) {2:17} Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
(7) {2:18} A man may say, you have faith, and I have works: show me your faith without your works, & I will show you my faith by my works
(8) {2:20} But will you know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
(9) {2:24} You see how that by works a man is justified and not by faith only
(10) {2:26} For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also
(11) {5:15} The prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
James 1:3 "Knowing <this>, that the trying of your [ faith ] [ worketh ] [ patience ]." Patiently waiting for Jesus to reward faith (manifest).
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
KEY WORD: WORK
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(1) {1:4} But let patience have a perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing
(2) {1:20} For the wrath of man works not the righteousness of God
(3) {1:25} But who looks into the perfect law of liberty, & continues, not forgeting, but is a doer of the work, this man will be blessed in his deeds
(4) {2:14} What does it profit, my brother, if a man say he has faith, and has not works then can faith save him
(5) {2:17} Even so faith, if it has not works, is dead, being alone
(6) {2:18} A man may say, you have faith, and I have works: show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works
(7) {2:20} But will you know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead
(8) {2:21} Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar
(9) {2:22} See how faith with works are together, and by works was faith made perfect
(10) {2:24} You see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only
(11) {2:25} Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way
(12) {2:26} For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also
(13) {3:13} Who is a wise man & endued with knowledge then let him show by his good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom
(14) {3:14} But if you have bitter envying & strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth
(15) {3:15} This wisdom descends not from above, but is earthly, sensual, & of the devil
(16) {3:16} For where envying & strife is, there is confusion & every evil work
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WHY: Let patience have her perfect work, that you may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.
James 1:4 "But let [ patience ] have <her> [ perfect ] [ work ], that ye may be [ perfect ] and entire, wanting nothing."
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
KEY WORD: PERFECT
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(1) {1:4} But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect & entire, wanting nothing
(2) {1:17} Every good gift & every perfect gift is from above, & comes down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning
(3) {1:25} But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed
(4) {2:22} Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect
(5) {3:2} For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Perfect: Faith matured & completed by trials & spiritual growth.
Hebrews 5:8-9 "Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; {9} And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;"

James 2:22 "Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?"
WAIT: If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
James 1:5 "If any of you lack [ wisdom ], let him ask of /\ God /\, that giveth to all <men> liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him."
Wisdom:
Proverbs 2:10-12 "When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; {11} Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee: {12} To deliver thee from the way of the evil <man>, from the man that speaketh froward things;"

Proverbs 9:10 "The fear of the LORD <is> the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy <is> understanding."
James 1:6 "But let him ask in [ faith ], nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed."
Ask in faith .. nothing wavering .. wave of sea driven .. wind & tossed:
See my paper: "Faith" for more information on this subject.

James 1:8 "A double minded man <is> unstable in all his ways."
James 1:9 "Let the [ brother ] of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted:"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
KEY WORD: RICH
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(1) {1:10} But the rich, in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away
(2) {1:11} For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withers the grass, & the flower thereof falls, & the grace of the fashion of it perishs: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways
(3) {2:5} My beloved brother, Has not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him
(4) {2:6} But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment seats
(5) {5:1} Go you rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you
(6) {5:2} Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
James 1:10 "But the [ rich ], in that he is made low: because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away."
Rich .. he is made low:
1 Corinthians 7:31 "And they that use this world, as not abusing <it>: for the fashion of this world passeth away."

James 1:13 "Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of /\ God /\: for /\ God /\ cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:"
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LIST: TEST TEMPTED
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(1) {1:13} Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempts he any man
(2) {1:14} But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed
(3) {1:15} Then when lust hath conceived, it brings forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, brings forth death
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am tempted of God .. God cannot be tempted with evil .. neither tempts:
God tests people and the devil tempts people (1 Corinthians 7:5).
Genesis 22:1 "And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, <here> I <am>." Tempt here is tested.

Matthew 5:45 "That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust."
Whom is no variableness:

Matthew 12:36 "But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment."

Natural face in a glass .. beholdeth himself, goeth his way, forgets:
1 Corinthians 13:12 "For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known."
2 Corinthians 3:18 "But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, <even> as by the Spirit of the Lord."

KEY WORD: LAW
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(1) {1:25} But whoso looks into the perfect law of liberty, and continues therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed
(2) {2:8} If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, you shalt love your neighbour as yourself, you do well
(3) {2:9} But if you have respect to persons, you commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors
(4) {2:10} For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all
(5) {2:11} For he that said, Do not commit adultery, also said Do not kill. Now if you commit no adultery, yet if you kill, you art become a transgressor of the law
(6) {2:12} So speak and do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty
(7) {4:11} Speak not evil one of another, brethren. He that speaketh evil of his brother, and judgeth his brother, speaketh evil of the law, and judgeth the law: but if thou judge the law, thou art not a doer of the law, but a judge.
(8) {4:12} There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WAY: But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
James 1:25 "But whoso looketh into the [ perfect ] [ law ] of liberty, and continueth <therein>, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the [ work ], this man shall be blessed in his deed."
Perfect law of liberty: See also James 2:12.
1 Corinthians 16:13 "Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong."
Galatians 5:1 "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage."

COMPARISON: FAITH & WORKS
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(1) {2:14} What does it profit, my brother, though a man say he hath faith, & have not works? can faith save him?
(2) {2:17} Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone
(3) {2:18} Yes, a man may say, you hast faith, and I have works: show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works
(4) {2:20} But do you know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead
(5) {2:21} Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar
(6) {2:22} See how faith's efforts with his works, and by works with faith made perfect
(7) {2:24} You see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only
(8) {2:25} Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way
(9) {2:26} For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also

Ephesians 2:8-10 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: <it is> the gift of God: {9} Not of works, lest any man should boast. {10} For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them."It's God's works of faith we are to do

Speaketh evil of brother .. judgeth brother .. speaketh evil of the law:

Who art thou that judgest another:
Romans 14:10 "But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ."
Romans 14:13 "Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in <his> brother's way."

James 4:13 "Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain:"

VI) A CHRISTIAN GIVES: {JAMES 5:1-20}
James 5:1 "Go to now, <ye> [ rich ] men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon <you>."
James 5:2 "Your [ riches ] are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten."
Your riches are corrupted:

James 5:4 "Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the /\ Lord /\ of sabaoth."
Lord of Sabaoth: The Lord of Hosts. Hosts meaning angelic armies. The Lord Almighty. The Bible uses this name 281 times. See my paper: "Names of God."

James 5:12 "But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and <your> nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation."
But above all things .. swear not .. let your yea be yea .. nay, nay:
Matthew 5:33-37 "Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: {34} But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne: {35} Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King. {36} Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black. {37} But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil."
Matthew 23:16-22 "Woe unto you, <ye> blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor! {17} <Ye> fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold? {18} And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty. {19} <Ye> fools and blind: for whether <is> greater, the gift, or the altar that sanctifieth the gift? {20} Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon. {21} And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein. {22} And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon."
2 Corinthians 1:17-20 "When I therefore was thus minded, did I use lightness? or the things that I purpose, do I purpose according to the flesh, that with me there should be yea yea, and nay nay? {18} But <as> God <is> true, our word toward you was not yea and nay. {19} For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, <even> by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea. {20} For all the promises of God in him <are> yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us."
Leviticus 19:12 "And ye shall not swear by my name falsely, neither shalt thou profane the name of thy God: I <am> the LORD."

Is any among you afflicted .. let him pray: Faith for healing

Jesus was whipped before going to the cross for our sicknesses and diseases. His death on the cross was for our sins. Matthew 8:17
shows that Jesus healing all the sick was to fulfill Isaiah 53 the atonement chapter. Therefore, healing is included in the atonement.
Isaiah 53:4-5 "Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. {5} But he <was> wounded for our transgressions, <he was> bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace <was> upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."
Matthew 8:16-17 "When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with <his> word, and healed all that were sick: {17} That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare <our> sicknesses."
WHY: Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:
James 5:14 "Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them [ pray ] over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the /\ Lord /\:"

Proverbs 4:20-22 "My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. {21} Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. {22} For they <are> life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh."
Psalms 107:20 "He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered <them> from their destructions."
1 Peter 2:24 "Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed."
3 John 2 "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth."
Call for the elder: See my paper: "Church officers and their qualifications."
The Church officers of Elder, Overseer, Presbyter, Bishop, Pastor and Shepherd are all similar positions. One may study Bible more.
See my paper: "Church Officers & Their Qualifications" for more information on this subject.
Acts 20:17 "And from Miletus he sent to Ephesus, and called the elders of the church." Paul refers to them in 20:28 as overseers.
Acts 20:28 "Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood." (1 Peter 5:2: feed - shepherd and oversight - overseer)
Overseer is the same Greek word Bishop used in Philippians 1:1, 1 Timothy 3:2, Titus 1:7 and 1 Peter 2:25. Also called Elder in
Acts 14:23 which is the same position as Bishop and Presbyters as found in 1 Timothy 4:14 and 1 Timothy 5:17. "To feed" is the same Greek word as shepherd. Pastor is found in Ephesians 4:11 and is the Greek word for shepherd. The shepherd is the one into whose care the sheep (flock) have been committed for feeding, caring, and protection for growth to maturity. The purpose of the different words are as follows: Elder indicates a mature spiritual experienced person in a position of authority. Bishop indicates the character of the work undertaken as overseer or guardian. Shepherd or Pastor indicates the function or responsibility of watching, teaching, and guiding the flock.
1 Timothy 5:17 "Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine."
WHAT: And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him
James 5:15 "And the [ prayer ] of [ faith ] shall save the sick, and the /\ Lord /\ shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him."
If he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him:
1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us <our> sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much:
See my paper: "Prayer".
John 9:31 "Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth."

James 5:17 "Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he [ prayed ] earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months."
Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are .. he prayed:
1 Kings 17:1 "And Elijah the Tishbite, <who was> of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, <As> the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word."
1 Kings 18:1 "And it came to pass <after> many days, that the word of the LORD came to Elijah in the third year, saying, Go, show thyself unto Ahab; and I will send rain upon the earth."
1 Kings 18:41-46 "And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for <there is> a sound of abundance of rain. {42} So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees, {43} And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, <There is> nothing. And he said, Go again seven times. {44} And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare <thy chariot>, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not. {45} And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel. {46} And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel."

Proverbs 10:12 "Hatred stirreth up strifes: but love covereth all sins."
John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
Romans 11:14 "If by any means I may provoke to emulation <them which are> my flesh, and might save some of them."
1 Peter 4:8 "And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins."
