BACKGROUND THESSALONIANS CHURCH:
Paul spent about three weeks in the Thessalonians region and synagogue, but was forced out by Jewish persecution.
Acts 17:1-11 "Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonica, where was a synagogue of the Jews: {2} And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three Sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures, {3} Opening and alleging, that Christ must needs have suffered, and risen again from the dead; and that this Jesus, whom I preach unto you, is Christ. {4} And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas; and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of the chief women not a few. {5} But the Jews which believed not, moved with envy, took unto them certain lewd fellows of the baser sort, and gathered a company, and set all the city on an uproar, and assaulted the house of Jason, and sought to bring them out to the people. {6} And when they found them not, they drew Jason and certain brethren unto the rulers of the city, crying, These that have turned the world upside down are come hither also; {7} Whom Jason hath received: and these all do contrary to the decrees of Caesar, saying that there is another king, one Jesus. {8} And they troubled the people and the rulers of the city, when they heard these things. {9} And when they had taken security of Jason, and of the other, they let them go. {10} And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea: who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews. {11} These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so." Some Jews & Gentiles responded in faith others persecution.

This is the first Bible epistle of Paul's 14 epistles of the 26 New Testament Bible books. Paul was sent to a Roman prison at his life's end where is was martyred for his faith, However he care for the church is was always of prime importance as shown in his epistles.
Silas (Silvanus):
Silas was a Prophet:
Acts 15:32 "And Judas and Silas, being prophets also themselves, exhorted the brethren with many words, and confirmed <them>."
Silas is chosen to go on 2nd missionary journey with Paul:
Acts 15:39-40 "And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus; {40} And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God."
See my papers: "Apostle" for more information on this subject.
Silas was an Apostle: Paul is an apostle by the same scriptures.
1 Thessalonians 1:1 "Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the church of the Thessalonians <which is> in God the Father and <in> the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace <be> unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ." This scripture with verse 2:6.
1 Thessalonians 2:6 "Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor <yet> of others, when we might have been burdensome, as the apostles of Christ."

Paul's letter send with regards from Timothy include: 2 Corinthians 1:1, Philippians 1:1, Colossians 1:1, 1&2 Thessalonians, Philemon 1 & Hebrews 13:23. Paul writes to Timothy in his 2 Bible books. God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ: Mention twice. God is a triunity which can not be divided. Father, Jesus & Holy Spirit are the way the one God reveals himself. If one sees Jesus, he also sees the Father & Holy Spirit at the same time since God can not be separated (John 14:8-9). Jesus is perfect man and perfect God.
Colossians 2:9 "For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily."
See my papers: "Triunity - Father, Son, & Holy Spirit" for more information on this subject.

John 14:9-10 "Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou <then>, Show us the Father? {10} Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works."

Labor of love:
See my papers: "Love" for more information on this subject.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 "Charity suffereth long, <and> is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, {5} Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; {6} Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; {7} Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things." V) SANCTIFICATION SECTION: {1 THESSALONIANS 4:1-4:12}
1 Thessalonians 4:1 "Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort <you> by the /\ Lord /\ M Jesus M, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please /\ God /\, <so> ye would abound more and more." For walk see 1 Thessalonians 2:12.
1 Thessalonians 4:2 "For ye know what commandments we gave you by the /\ Lord /\ M Jesus M."
WHAT: THE WILL OF GOD IS YOUR SANCTIFICATION & YOU ABSTAIN FROM FORNICATION
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
LIST: COMMANDMENTS BY LORD JESUS {1 THESSALONIANS 4:2-4:7}
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(1) You know the commandments by the Lord Jesus {1 Thessalonians 4:2}
(2) Your sanctification that you abstain from fornication {1 Thessalonians 4:3}
(3) Everyone know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour {1 Thessalonians 4:4}
(4) Not in lust of concupiscence {1 Thessalonians 4:5}
(5) Do not defraud your brother in any matter {1 Thessalonians 4:6}
(6) For God has not called us unto uncleanness but unto holiness {1 Thessalonians 4:7}
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1 Thessalonians 4:3 "For this is the will of /\ God /\, <even> your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:"
This is the will of God, your sanctification:
The term sanctify means to be set apart, consecrated, dedicated and separated for a special purpose, function or use. A derived (not scriptural) meaning is to be holy and pure. In the Old Testament the word was used with prostitutes as set apart for evil. Sanctified is what a believe is; perfected is what he is to be.
See my papers: "Christian Growth" for more information on this subject.
1 Corinthians 1:30 "But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:"
2 Thessalonians 2:13 "But we are bound to give thanks alway to God for you, brethren beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:"
1 Peter 1:2 "Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied."
Abstain fornication: Fornication includes all kinds of sex related sins. It also includes going after other gods (2 Chronicles 21:11). Fornication is not adultery. Adultery is a fornication.
Matthew 15:19 "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:" Two separate sins.
Matthew 12:39 "But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:"
1 Corinthians 6:18 "Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body."
Colossians 3:5 "Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:"
WAY: EVERY ONE SHOULD KNOW TO POSSESS HIS VESSEL IN SANCTIFICATION & HONOUR
1 Thessalonians 4:4 "That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;"
Possess his vessel in sanctification (holy) and honour:
Romans 12:1 "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, <which is> your reasonable service."
1 Thessalonians 4:5 "Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not /\ God /\:" Concupiscence = evil lust drives
1 Thessalonians 4:6 "That no <man> go beyond and defraud his brother in <any> matter: because that the /\ Lord /\ <is> the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified."
No man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter:
Proverbs 22:22-23 "Rob not the poor, because he <is> poor: neither oppress the afflicted in the gate: {23} For the LORD will plead their cause, and spoil the soul of those that spoiled them."
WHY: GOD HATH NOT CALLED US UNTO UNCLEANNESS, BUT UNTO HOLINESS
1 Thessalonians 4:7 "For /\ God /\ hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness."
God hath called us to holiness:
1 Peter 1:15-16 "But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; {16} Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy."
[ CONCLUSION ]: THEREFORE
1 Thessalonians 4:8 "He [ therefore ] that despiseth, despiseth not man, but /\ God /\, who hath also given unto us his [ holy Spirit ]." Despiseth (rejects) these commands.
WHILE: YOU ARE TAUGHT OF GOD TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER
1 Thessalonians 4:9 "But as touching brotherly [ faith ] ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of /\ God /\ to [ love ] one another."
Touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you increase:
See my papers: "Love" for more information on this subject.
Matthew 22:37-39 "Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. {38} This is the first and great commandment. {39} And the second <is> like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
WHERE: SHOW LOVE TOWARDS ALL BRETHREN IN ALL OF MACEDONIA
1 Thessalonians 4:10 "And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;" Increase in love more and more.
See my papers: "Christian Growth" for more information on this subject.
1 Thessalonians 4:11 "And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business & to work with your own hands as we commanded you
1 Thessalonians 4:12 "That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and <that> ye may have lack of nothing."
Ye may walk honestly toward them that are without:
1 Peter 3:15 "But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and <be> ready always to <give> an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:"

Isaiah 26:19-21 "Thy dead <men> shall live, <together with> my dead body shall they arise. Matthew 13:30 "Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn." The unbeliever taken first.
