WHO: We/our (Apostle John and other apostles)

1 John 1:1 "That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the M Word M of life;"

From the beginning: Both pre-creation Jesus and Jesus ministry.

John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Eternal Word = Jesus (God) made flesh.

John 1:14 "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." Word = revelation/exposition

Micah 5:2 "But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, <though> thou be little among the thousands of Judah, <yet> out of thee shall he come forth unto me <that is> to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth <have been> from of old, from everlasting." Everlasting = from beginning.

See my paper: "Jesus Life, Events, & Identity" for more information on this subject.

Our hands have handled:

Luke 24:39 "Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have." Jesus, after his resurrection, was touched by nearly all his apostles then later by Thomas.

The word of life:

John 1:4 "In him was life; and the life was the light of men."

John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

WHOM: You (other Christians), Us = all Christians

1 John 1:2 "(For theM life M was manifested, and we have seen <it>, and bear witness, and show unto you that M eternal life M , which was with the /\ Father /\, and was manifested unto us;)"

Life was manifested: See also John 1:14 above. Webster defines manifested: apparent to mind/senses, evident, reveal, & shown.

Acts 10:39-41 "And we are witnesses of all things which he did both in the land of the Jews, and in Jerusalem; whom they slew and hanged on a tree: {40} Him God raised up the third day, and showed him openly; {41} Not to all the people, but unto witnesses chosen before of God, <even> to us, who did eat and drink with him after he rose from the dead."

Mark 4:22 "For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad." God's word defines manifested: to reveal & open.

Eternal life: See also 1 John 5:11-13. Jesus external existence.

John 17:3 "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent."

2 Timothy 1:10 "But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:"

See my paper: "Just Who Is God?" for more information on this subject.

Which was with the Father:

John 1:18 "No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared <him>."

1 John 1:3 "That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have [ fellowship ] with us: and truly our [ fellowship ] <is> with the /\ Father /\, and with his M Son M M Jesus M T Christ T."

Fellowship: Communion, share, partners, partakers, in common, union

1 Corinthians 1:9 "God <is> faithful, by whom ye were called unto the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord."

Highest form of fellowship (may be one):

John 10:30 "I and <my> Father are one."

John 14:10 "Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works."

As he, so us.

See my paper: "Triunity - Father, Son, & Holy Spirit" for more information on this subject.
1 John 1:4 "And these things [ write ] we unto you, that your joy may be full." Purpose of John's letter

WHY: Write unto you that your joy may be full since God is light and in Him is no darkness

Joy may be full: Abiding in Jesus, Spirit, obedience, ask & Love.

John 15:10-11 "If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. {11} These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and <that> your joy might be full."

John 16:24 "Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full."

Psalms 16:11 "Thou wilt show me the path of life: in thy presence <is> fulness of joy; at thy right hand <there are> pleasures for evermore."

II) FELLOWSHIP WITH THE GOD OF LIGHT OF TRUTH {1:5 - 2:2}:

- Walk in light (1:7)

- True confession (1:8)

- Repent (1:9)

- Sin not (2:1)

CONFORM TO STANDARD (CONDITIONS OF DIVINE FELLOWSHIP):

1 John 1:5 "This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that /\ God /\ is [ light ], and in /\ Him /\ is no darkness at all." God is the very source of light. Light = life = Jesus.

Message:

John 8:12 "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."

Other scriptures of what God is:

God is Light:

Manifested, revealed, knowledge, understanding, holy, purity, perfection, truth, guidance, enlightenment, wisdom, glory, & revelation.

John 1:4 "In him was life; and the life was the light of men."

John 1:9 "<That> was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world."

John 3:19 "And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil."

1 Timothy 6:16 "Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom <be> honour and power everlasting. Amen."

God is Spirit:

John 4:24 "God <is> a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship <him> in spirit and in truth."

God is Love: His characteristic by nature. Like we are human.

1 John 4:8 "He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love."

God is a consuming fire:

Hebrews 12:29 "For our God <is> a consuming fire."

1 John 1:6 "If we say that we have [ fellowship ] with /\ Him /\, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the [ truth ]:"

We say/he say, Man's False Professions - 1 John Theme.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1 JOHN THEME: WE/HE SAY - MAN'S FALSE PROFESSIONS {1 JOHN 1:6 - 4:20}

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(1) {1 JOHN 1:6} We say we fellowship with Jesus & walk in the darkness we lie

(2) {1 JOHN 1:8} We say we have no sin we deceive ourselves

(3) {1 JOHN 1:10} We say we have not sinned, we make Jesus a liar

(4) {1 JOHN 2:4} He say I know Him, we do not keep His commandments is a liar

(5) {1 JOHN 2:6} He say he abides in Jesus, he should so walk, as Jesus walked

(6) {1 JOHN 2:9} He say he hates his brother, is in darkness

(7) {1 JOHN 4:20} He say he loves God & hate his brother, he is a liar

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Walk in darkness = iniquities/sins: Sin broke fellowship at Eden.

Isaiah 59:1-2 "Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: {2} But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid <his> face from you, that he will not hear."

See my paper: "Walk as Jesus Walked" for more information on this subject.

By birth nature were sinners: By new birth nature are in Spirit.

2 Peter 1:4 "Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust."

Ephesians 2:3 "Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others."

WHAT: Walk in the light as he is in the light we have fellowship one with another

1 John 1:7 "But if we walk in the [ light ], as /\ he /\ is in the [ light ], we have [ fellowship ] one with another, and the blood of M Jesus M T Christ T /\ God /\ M Son M cleanseth us from all [ sin ]." As he, so us: 1 John theme.

WAY: The blood of Jesus Christ God Son cleans us from all sin

Walk in the light/spirit versus walk in flesh:

Romans 8:4 "That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit." Other Walk in scriptures: Walk = Live

Galatians 5:16 "<This> I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh."

Colossians 4:5 "Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time."

Romans 6:4 "Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life."

Ephesians 5:2 "And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour."

2 John 1:4 "I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father."

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1 JOHN THEME: AS HE - SO US {1 JOHN 1:7 - 4:17}

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(1) {1 JOHN 1:7} As Jesus is in the light, so we should we walk in the light

(2) {1 JOHN 2:6} As Jesus walked, so we should walk

(3) {1 JOHN 3:2} As Jesus is, so we should be like Him

(4) {1 JOHN 3:3} As Jesus is pure, so we should purify ourselves

(5) {1 JOHN 3:7} As Jesus is righteous, so we should do righteous things

(6) {1 JOHN 3:23} As Jesus gave us His commandment, so we should obey His commandment of love

(7) {1 JOHN 4:17} As Jesus was in the world, so we are in the world

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1 John 1:8 "If we say that we have no [ sin ], we deceive ourselves, and the [ truth ] is not in us." We say = false profession. We say/he say, Man's False Professions - 1 John Theme.

Sin root of old nature removed, not occasional sins of weak flesh.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

KEY WORD: TRUTH {1 JOHN 1:6 - 5:6}

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(1) {1 JOHN 1:6} If we say we have fellowship with God, but walk in darkness we lie & are not in the truth.

(2) {1 JOHN 1:8} If we say we have not sinned we are deceived & are not in truth.

(3) {1 JOHN 2:4} He says I know Him & does not keep His commandments is a liar & is not in the truth.

(4) {1 JOHN 2:21} Have not written because you know not the truth, but you know it, & no lie is of the truth.

(5) {1 JOHN 2:27} Abide in the anointing so no man teach you for the anointing is truth & no lie so abide in Him.

(6) {1 JOHN 3:18} Love not in word nor tongue, but in deed and truth.

(7) {1 JOHN 3:19} We know that we are of the truth and shall assure our hearts before Him.

(8) {1 JOHN 4:6} We are of God and Christians hear us. Here is how we know by the spirit of truth.

(9) {1 JOHN 5:6} This came by water & blood, Jesus and the Spirit bears witness because the Spirit is truth.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We have no sin: We are either deceived or not truthful.

Romans 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"

James 4:17 "Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth <it> not, to him it is sin."

Romans 14:23 "And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because <he eateth> not of faith: for whatsoever <is> not of faith is sin."

Paul was a sinner:

1 Timothy 1:15 "This <is> a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief." Paul near his end of life says he is a sinner.

Peter was a sinner:

John 13:9-10 "Simon Peter saith unto him, Lord, not my feet only, but also <my> hands and <my> head. {10} Jesus saith to him, He that is washed needeth not save to wash <his> feet, but is clean every whit: and ye are clean, but not all." Clean from Sin's principle, but need washing from daily sins, adhesion to the flesh, we commit.

Galatians 2:11-12 "But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed. {12} For before that certain came from James, he did eat with the Gentiles: but when they were come, he withdrew and separated himself, fearing them which were of the circumcision."

1 John 1:9 "If we confess our [ sins ], M he M is faithful and just to forgive us <our> [ sins ], and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

WHILE: We confess our sins he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins

We confess and then God does all the work: forgives/cleans/forget.

Jeremiah 31:34 "And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more." Cleanse us so that the sin is gone.

Confession implies repentance & sorrow. Righteousness means right (pure) standing before God which can only be through Jesus blood.

See my paper: "Forgiveness of Sins" for more information on this subject.

1 John 1:10 "If we say that we have not [ sinned ], we make M him M a liar, and M his M word is not in us." We say/he say, Man's False Professions - 1 John Theme.

We have sinned/We make God a liar: God says we all have sinned.

Ecclesiastes 7:20 "For <there is> not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not."

Psalms 130:3 "If thou, LORD, shouldest mark iniquities, O Lord, who shall stand?"

Romans 3:10-12 "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: {11} There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. {12} They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one."

Romans 5:12 "Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:" One man started it, but we are guilty of sinning too.

1 John 2:1 "My little children, these things [ write ] I unto you, that ye [ sin ] not. And if any man [ sin ], we have an advocate with the /\ Father /\, M Jesus M T Christ the righteous:" Advocate = one pleading for us

That ye sin not:

Psalms 119:11 "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee."

Titus 2:11-12 "For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, {12} Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;"

Ezekiel 36:27 "And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do <them>."

Romans 8:1 "<There is> therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."

Romans 8:4 "That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."

Galatians 5:16 "<This> I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh."

Advocate: Sin not, but if we do, God has a lawyer to defend us.

1 Timothy 2:5 "For <there is> one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;" Lawyer (Jesus) to stands by us.

Hebrews 4:15 "For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as <we are>, <yet> without sin."

Psalms 78:38-39 "But he, <being> full of compassion, forgave <their> iniquity, and destroyed <them> not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath. {39} For he remembered that they <were but> flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again."

Hebrews 7:25 "Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them."

Other advocates in scriptures:

Psalms 106:23 "Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy <them>."

Ezekiel 22:30 "And I sought for a man among them, that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none."

See my paper: "Salvation Biblical Word Glossary" for more information on this subject.

1 John 2:2 "And T he T is the propitiation for our [ sins ]: and not for ours only, but also for <the [ sins ] of> the whole world." Propitiation in 1 John 4:10 also

Propitiation: That (Jesus) which satisfied God's scale of justice.

Romans 3:24-25 "Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: {25} Whom God hath set forth <to be> a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;"

Not ours only, sins of any in the world: Sufficient vs efficient.

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Know: Closest relationship possible. In God/marriage, two = one.

Philippians 3:10 "That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;"

John 17:21-23 "That they all may be one; as thou, Father, <art> in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. {22} And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one: {23} I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me." As he, so us.

Jesus Commandments: Jesus gave three below. Love fulfills them all.

Matthew 22:37-40 "Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. {38} This is the first and great commandment. {39} And the second <is> like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. {40} On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

Deuteronomy 6:5 "And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might."

Leviticus 19:18 "Thou shalt not avenge, nor bear any grudge against the children of thy people, but thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself: I <am> the LORD."

John 13:34 "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another."

John 15:12 "This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you."

See my paper: "What Does God Really Want?" for more information on this subject.

1 John 2:4 "He that saith, I [ know ] M him M, and keepeth not M his M commandments, is a liar, and the [ truth ] is not in him." We say/he say, Man's False Professions - 1 John Theme.

See my paper: "Original Sin & Its Results" for more information on this subject.

1 John 2:5 "But whoso keepeth M his M word, in him verily is the [ love ] of /\ God /\ perfected: hereby [ know ] we that we are in M him M." We know - 1 John Theme.

WHY: Whosoever keeps His word, in him is the love of God perfected hereby know we are in Him

Perfected: Matured, demonstrated by experience and realized in practice by bring forth fruits of love.

Romans 13:10 "Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love <is> the fulfilling of the law."

1 John 2:6 "He that saith he abideth in M him M ought himself also so to walk, even as M he M walked." He saith = false profession. As he, so us - 1 John theme. We say/he say, Man's False Professions - 1 John Theme.

Abide in Jesus:

John 15:4-5 "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. {5} I am the vine, ye <are> the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing."

John 15:7 "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you."

John 15:10 "If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love."

Walk, even as he walked: See 1 John 1:7. Walk = live. Jesus example

1 Peter 2:21 "For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:"

1 John 2:7 "Brethren, I [ write ] no new commandment unto you, but an old commandment which ye had from the beginning. The old commandment is the word which ye have heard from the beginning."

Old commandment modified by Jesus command to love as he loved:

1 John 2:8 "Again, a new commandment I [ write ] unto you, which thing is true in M him M and in you: because the darkness is past, and the true [ light ] now shineth." True light = revelation of Christ God.

See my paper: "Questions & Answers on Law, Faith, & Liberty" for more information on this subject.

Darkness is past/True light (Jesus) shineth: See 1 John 1:5.

John 8:12 "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."

2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore if any man <be> in Christ, <he is> a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

1 John 2:9 "He that saith he is in the [ light ], and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now." See also 1 John 4:20. We say/he say, Man's False Professions - 1 John Theme.

He saith = false profession. Darkness (Satan/evil) produces hate.

1 John 2:10 "He that [ loveth ] his brother abideth in the [ light ], and there is none occasion of stumbling in him." Cause others to fall.

None occasion of stumbling:

Jude 1:24 "Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present <you> faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,"

Romans 14:13 "Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in <his> brother's way."

1 Corinthians 1:23 "But we preach Christ crucified, unto the Jews a stumblingblock, and unto the Greeks foolishness;"

1 John 2:11 "But he that hateth his brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes." Prey for false doctrines, stumble.

SEPARATION (WARNING AGAINST THE LOVE OF THE WORLD):

1 John 2:12 "I [ write ] unto you, little children, because your [ sins ] are forgiven you for M his M M name's M sake." Purpose of John's letter.

1 John 2:13 "I [ write ] unto you, fathers, because ye have known M him M <that is> from the beginning. I [ write ] unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. I [ write ] unto you, little children, because ye have known the /\ Father /\ ." We know - 1 John Theme. Purpose John's letter.

Little children, young men, and fathers: Stages of Christian walk.

Little Children: Beginning walk in Jesus; have sins forgiven; know Father (God) and cry Abba Father.

Romans 8:15 "For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father."

Galatians 4:6 "And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father."

Young men: Overcomers of Satan; strong; word of God dwells in you.

Ephesians 6:12 "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high <places>."

Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."

Fathers: Know God (Jesus) from the beginning.

Philippians 3:10 "That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death;" Mature Christian's confession.

John 17:3 "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." WHILE: The word of God abides in you, and you have overcome the wicked one

1 John 2:14 "I have written unto you, fathers, because ye have known M him M <that is> from the beginning. I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of /\ God /\ abideth in you, and ye have overcome the wicked one." We know - 1 John Theme. John's purpose.

Growth in God: Word of God abides in you.

Colossians 1:9-10 "For this cause we also, since the day we heard <it>, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; {10} That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;"

2 Timothy 2:15 "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

1 John 2:15 "[ Love ] not the world, neither the things <that are> in the world. If any man love the world, the [ love ] of the /\ Father /\ is not in him." World system organized and headed by Satan. Not God first.

WAY: Love not the world, neither the things in the world, the love of the Father is not in him Continue 2:16

Love not the world/things of the world: World system of lust/things

Romans 1:25 "Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen."

John 15:19 "If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you." Hates Jesus also.

John 15:22 "If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloak for their sin."

John 16:8-9 "And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: {9} Of sin, because they believe not on me; {10} Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; {11} Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

See my paper: "Sermon on the Mount" for more information on this subject.

Fulfill law: If love God with all heart, soul & might no love left

Romans 13:10 "Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love <is> the fulfilling of the law." See also 1 John 4:19.

WAY: All in the world, the lust of flesh, lust of the eyes, and pride of life is not of the Father

1 John 2:16 "For all that <is> in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the /\ Father /\ , but is of the world." World = treasure/pleasures/honors

Lust of the flesh/lust of eyes/pride of life - Universal sins:

Seen in Jesus temptations by Devil in Matthew 4:1-11 & Luke 4:1-14.

Seen in Eve's sin in Genesis 3:6.

Lust of the flesh: If Son God, command these stones to bread.

Eve saw tree was good for food.

Lust of the eyes: If Son of God, cast thyself down from pinnacle.

Eve saw it was pleasant to the eyes.

Pride of life: All these thing I give Jesus, if worship Satan.

Eve saw tree to be desired to make one wise.

Genesis 3:6 "And when the woman saw that the tree <was> good for food, and that it <was> pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make <one> wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat."

WANT: The world passes away, and the lust thereof, but he that does the will of God abides forever.

1 John 2:17 "And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of /\ God /\ abideth for ever."

AFFIRMATION (WORLD LOVE BRINGS ANTICHRIST):

1 John 2:18 "Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that [ antichrist ] shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time."

Last times/days: Start with Jesus and continue to this generation.

1 Peter 1:20 "Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,"

See my paper: "End Times Events - Day of the Lord" for more information on this subject.

2 Peter 3:3 "Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,"

2 Timothy 3:1-2 "This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. {2} For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,

Antichrist: Spirit of demonic forces behind Antichrist.

2 Thessalonians 2:3-10 "Let no man deceive you by any means: for <that day shall not come>, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; {4} Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God. {5} Remember ye not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things? {6} And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time. {7} For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth <will let>, until he be taken out of the way. {8} And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: {9} <Even him>, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, {10} And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved."

Revelation 13:1-7 "And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy. {2} And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as <the feet> of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. {3} And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast. {4} And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who <is> like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? {5} And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty <and> two months. {6} And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. {7} And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations."

Revelation 13:18 "Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number <is> Six hundred threescore <and> six."

Revelation 19:19 "And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army."

Revelation 13:20 "And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone."

1 John 2:19 "They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would <no doubt> have continued with us: but <they went out>, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us."

See my paper: "Antichrist" for more information on this subject.

They went out from us/they were not of us:

1 Timothy 4:1 "Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;"

Jude 4 "For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ."

1 Peter 4:17 "For the time <is come> that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if <it> first <begin> at us, what shall the end <be> of them that obey not the gospel of God?"

2 Timothy 4:3 "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;"

1 John 2:20 "But ye have an unction from the /\ Holy One /\, and ye [ know ] all things." Unction = the act of anointing. Holy one = God.

Unction from the Holy one / ye know all things:

John 14:26 "But the Comforter, <which is> the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you."

1 John 2:21 "I have not written unto you because ye [ know ] not the [ truth ], but because ye [ know ] it, and that no lie is of the [ truth ]."

1 John 2:22 "Who is a liar but he that denieth that M Jesus M is the T Christ T? He is [ antichrist ], that denieth the /\ Father /\ and the M Son M."

Liar, the man Jesus is not Christ/God: Therefore, Anti (against).

John 8:44 "Ye are of <your> father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it."

Matthew 12:30 "He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad."

1 John 2:23 "Whosoever denieth the M Son M, the same hath not the /\ Father /\: <(but>) <he that acknowledgeth the M Son M hath the /\ Father /\ also>." Jesus and the Father are one. Can not split Godhead.

See my paper: "Godhead Relationship" for more information on this subject.

Denies the Son/same has not the Father:

John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

John 14:8-9 "Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us. {9} Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou <then>, Show us the Father?" God is a Triunity. See any (Godhead), see all of them.

John 15:23 "He that hateth me hateth my Father also."

2 John 1:9 "Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son."

AFFIRMATION (STAND FIRM AGAINST WORLD LOVE):

1 John 2:24 "Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the M Son M, and in the /\ Father /\."

Ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you: Jesus/word.

John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Jesus is the eternal word.

John 15:7 "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you."

1 John 2:25 "And this is the promise that M he M hath promised us, <even> eternal life." Eternal life: See also 1 John 1:2 & 5:11-13.

He hath promised us:

Numbers 23:19 "God <is> not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do <it>? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?"

Matthew 28:18 "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth." Jesus will do it.

1 John 2:26 "These <things> have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you." Purpose of John's letter. Seduce = lead wrong.

1 John 2:27 "But the /\ anointing /\ which ye have received of M him M abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same /\ anointing /\ teacheth you of all things, and is [ truth ], and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in M him M."

WHAT: Anointing you received of Him abides in you & need no man to teach you as the anointing teaches all

Anointing which ye have received / teaches you of all things:

John 16:13 "Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, <that> shall he speak: and he will show you things to come."

1 Corinthians 2:14 "But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know <them>, because they are spiritually discerned."

AFFIRMATION (STAND FIRM PRODUCES CONFIDENCE):

1 John 2:28 "And now, little children, abide in M him M; that, when M he M shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before M him M at M his M coming." Jesus is coming back again.

Abide in him: Continue in him/They will know you by your fruits.

John 15:5 "I am the vine, ye <are> the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing."

John 15:8 "Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples."

When he shall appear/at his coming: 2nd coming/rapture/our death.

Acts 1:11 "Which also said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing up into heaven? this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven."

We may have confidence/not be ashamed: Also 1 John 3:21, 4:17, 5:14

1 Corinthians 3:11-15 "For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. {12} Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; {13} Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. {14} If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. {15} If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire."

1 John 2:29 "If ye [ know ] that M he M is righteous, ye [ know ] that every one that doeth righteousness is [ born ] of M him M." We know - 1 John Theme.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

KEY WORD: BORN & BEGOTTEN {1 JOHN 2:29 - 5:18}

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(1) {1 JOHN 2:29} Everyone that does righteousness is born of Him.

(2) {1 JOHN 3:9} Whosoever is born of God does not commit sin for His seed is within him.

(3) {1 JOHN 4:7} Love one another for love is of God & everyone that loves is born of God & knows God.

(4) {1 JOHN 4:9} God sent His only begotten Son into the world

{1 JOHN 5:1} Whoever believes Jesus is the Christ is born of God. Anyone loves Him that begat is God begotten.

(5) {1 JOHN 5:4} Whosoever is born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that overcomes our faith.

(6) {1 JOHN 5:18} We know that whosoever is born of God sins not, but he is begotten of God to keep himself.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Born of him - regeneration - saved - begotten - born again/above:

John 3:3 "Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God."

See my paper: "True Gospel of Salvation by the Imputed Righteousness of Jesus" for more information on this subject.

Begotten again:

1 Peter 1:3 "Blessed <be> the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,"

New creature:

2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore if any man <be> in Christ, <he is> a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new."

IV) FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD THAT WE CAN KNOW {1 JOHN 3:1 - 3:24}:

PROOF OF OUR CHRISTIAN LIFE: We know and God gave us his Spirit.

- Obedience (2:3, 2:5)

- Love (3:14)

- Spirit (3:24, 4:13)

LOVE:

- Origin: Father. (1 John 3:1) (God is love. - 1 John 4:8).

- Object: Us. (1 John 3:1) (While we were yet sinners,

Christ died for us. - Romans 5:8).

- Magnitude: Best. (What manner of love. - 1 John 3:1).

- Free: Bestowed on us. (1 John 3:1) (Can not merit it. Not worthy of it. - Eph. 2:8). - Goal: We shall be like him. (1 John 3:2) (Conformed to his image. - Romans 8:29).

GOD IS RIGHTEOUS LOVE: God's nature is love (1 John 4:8).

1 John 3:1 "Behold, what manner of [ love ] the /\ Father /\ hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of /\ God /\: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew M him M not." Restored fellowship

WHO: We should be called the sons of God

Sons of God: Children of God born from above.

John 1:12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, <even> to them that believe on his name:"

1 John 3:2 "Beloved, now are we the sons of /\ God /\, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we [ know ] that, when M he M shall appear, we shall be like M him M; for we shall see M him M as M he M is." As he, so us: 1 John theme. We know - 1 John Theme.

WAY: When He shall appear, we shall be like Him for we shall see Him as He is.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1 JOHN THEME: AS HE, SO US {1 JOHN 1:7 - 4:17}

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(1) {1 JOHN 1:7} If we walk in the light as He is in the light we have fellowship with Him.

(2) {1 JOHN 2:6} He says he abide in Him so should walk as He walked.

(3) {1 JOHN 3:2} When He shall appear, we shall be like Him for we shall see Him as He is.

(4) {1 JOHN 3:3} Every man that has this hope purifies himself as He is pure.

(5) {1 JOHN 3:7} He that does righteousness is righteous as He is righteous.

(6) {1 JOHN 3:23} We should believe on Jesus and love one another, as He gave us the commandment.

(7) {1 JOHN 4:17} Love because as He is, so are we in this world.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Does not yet appear what we shall be/we shall be like him:

Colossians 3:2-4 "Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. {3} For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. {4} When Christ, <who is> our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory."

1 Corinthians 15:52-53 "In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. {53} For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal <must> put on immortality."

Philippians 3:21 "Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself."

1 Corinthians 13:12 "For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known."

Psalms 17:15 "As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness."

Romans 8:29-30 "For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate <to be> conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. {30} Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified."

See my paper: "Entry into the Holy of Holies" for more information on this subject.

1 John 3:3 "And every man that hath this hope in M him M purifieth himself, even as M he M is pure."As he, so us: 1 John theme

WHILE: Every man that has this hope in Him purifies himself

Hope in him purifies himself:

Titus 2:13-14 "Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; {14} Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works."

Galatians 3:23-25 "But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. {24} Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster <to bring us> unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. {25} But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster."

No hope:

Ephesians 2:12 "That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world"

1 John 3:4 "Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for [ sin ] is the transgression of the law." Sin is lawlessness.

Committees sin transgresses the law:

Romans 3:20 "Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law <is> the knowledge of sin." Doing deeds of law is not the means of being justified.

Romans 6:14 "For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace."

Sin: Man is drawn away enticed by lust; lust conceives & bears sin.

Lust: Word in one sense evil, yet used in Bible other ways.

1 Peter 1:12 - Angels desire to look into; Jesus in Luke 22:15 -With desire, I have.. passover; Paul in Phil. 1:23 - desire depart. Desire is not sin, but in back of every sin is desire. It is how lust (desire) is satisfied that determines if it is sin. Satan -Drawn away = from safety to trap. Entices = bait wrong/fast method.

1 John 3:5 "And ye [ know ] that M he M was manifested to take away our [ sins ]; and in M him M is no [ sin ]." We know - 1 John Theme. The purpose of Jesus coming.

WHAT: He was manifested to take away our sins and in Him is no sin

He was manifested to take away our sins: By destroying Devils works

Colossians 2:15 "<And> having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a show of them openly, triumphing over them in it."

Hebrews 2:14 "Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;"

In him is no sin:

Hebrews 9:14 "How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?"

1 Peter 1:18-19 "Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, <as> silver and gold, from your vain conversation <received> by tradition from your fathers; {19} But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:"

John 8:29 "And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him."

1 Peter 2:22 "Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:"

1 John 3:6 "Whosoever abideth in M him M [ sinneth ] not: whosoever [ sinneth ] hath not seen M him M, neither known M him M."

Abides in him sins not: While Abiding, life's way, we won't sin

John 15:3-5 "Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. {4} Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. {5} I am the vine, ye <are> the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing."

1 John 3:7 "Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as M he M is righteous." As he, so us: 1 John theme.

See my paper: "Imputed/Reckoned/Counted Righteousness of Jesus" for more information on this subject.

No man deceive you / does righteousness is righteous:

Matthew 7:16-18 "Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? {17} Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit. {18} A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither <can> a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit."

1 John 3:8 "He that committeth [ sin ] is of the devil; for the devil [ sinneth ] from the beginning. For this purpose the M Son M of /\ God /\ was manifested, that M he M might destroy the works of the devil."

He that committees sin is of the devil: As a way of life (habit) and has the nature of the devil in him. Jesus came to destroy the devil's works in the heart and lives of Christians. Jesus eliminates the Sin principle, nature, from our life.

He might destroy the works of the devil: Life - death/truth - lie.

John 10:10 "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have <it> more abundantly."

John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." Devil is liar.

Devil: Wicked one (2:13, 3:12, 5:18); Sinned from beginning (3:8, John 8:44); Instigator of human sin (3:8, 3:12); Cain under devil's control (3:12); Children of devil (3:10); World in wickedness (5:19); God keeps us from devil (5:18); Christ overcome devil (2:13-14, 4:4, 5:4); & Christ destroy devil's works (3:8).

1 John 3:9 "Whosoever is [ born ] of /\ God /\ doth not commit [ sin ]; for /\ his /\ seed remaineth in M him M: and M he M cannot [ sin ], because M he M is [ born ] of /\ God /\."

WHY: Whosoever is born of God does not commit sin for His seed remains in him

Cannot sin habitually. Practice sin as a way of like. Seed = divine nature. New man can't sin because it is holy & new nature.

See my paper: "Original Sin & Its Results" for more information on this subject.

Faithful husband cannot be unfaithful because strong virtue abounds

See my paper: "Man's Greatest Need - Relationship with God" for more information on this subject.

Whosoever is born of God does not commit sin:

Galatians 2:20 "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me."

Romans 6:6 "Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with <him>, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin."

2 Corinthians 4:10-11 "Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. {11} For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh."

2 Corinthians 5:17 "Therefore if any man <be> in Christ, <he is> a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." New man does not sin; old man must be put to death.

Romans 7:15-25 "For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I. {16} If then I do that which I would not, I consent unto the law that <it is> good. {17} Now then it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. {18} For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but <how> to perform that which is good I find not. {19} For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do. {20} Now if I do that I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. {21} I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. {22} For I delight in the law of God after the inward man: {23} But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. {24} O wretched man that I am! who shall deliver me from the body of this death? {25} I thank God through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then with the mind I myself serve the law of God; but with the flesh the law of sin."

Galatians 5:16-17 "<This> I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. {17} For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would."

1 John 3:10 "In this the children of /\ God /\ are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of /\ God /\, neither he that [ loveth ] not his brother."

Children of God / children of devil:

Matthew 13:38 "The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked <one>;"

John 8:44 "Ye are of <your> father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it."

Acts 13:10 "And said, O full of all subtlety and all mischief, <thou> child of the devil, <thou> enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord?"

Romans 8:16 "he Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:"

Ephesians 2:3 "Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others."

1 John 3:11 "For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should [ love ] one another."

See my paper: "Love" for more information on this subject.

John 15:12 "This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you."

1 John 3:12 "Not as Cain, <who> was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous." Cain was controlled by Satan.

Cain/wicked/works evil:

Genesis 4:3 "And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD."

Genesis 4:5 "But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell."

Genesis 4:8-9 "And Cain talked with Abel his brother: and it came to pass, when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and slew him. {9} And the LORD said unto Cain, Where <is> Abel thy brother? And he said, I know not: <Am> I my brother's keeper?" Cain killed his brother and lied to God.

1 John 3:13 "Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you."

World hate you:

John 15:18-19 "If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before <it hated> you. {19} If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you."

1 John 3:14 "We [ know ] that we have passed from death unto life, because we [ love ] the brethren. He that [ loveth ] not <his> brother abideth in death." We know - 1 John Theme. Cain followed Satan in lying & killing.

We know:

See my paper: "Justification" for more information on this subject.

We love the brethren/brother:

John 13:34-35 "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. {35} By this shall all <men> know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another."

Galatians 5:22-23 "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, {23} Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law."

1 John 3:15 "Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye [ know ] that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him." We know - 1 John Theme.

Hates / murderer:

Matthew 5:21-22 "Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment: {22} But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire."

John 8:44 "Ye are of <your> father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it."

1 John 3:16 "Hereby perceive we the [ love ] <of /\ God /\ >, because M he M laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down <our> lives for the brethren." As he, so we.

See my paper: "One-In-Christ" for more information on this subject.

He laid down his life for us and we ought to lay down our lives:

Romans 5:8 "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

John 15:13 "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

1 John 3:17 "But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels <of compassion> from him, how dwelleth the [ love ] of /\ God /\ in him?"

WANT: Let us not love in word, neither in tongue, but in deed and in truth.

1 John 3:18 "My little children, let us not [ love ] in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in [ truth ]."

Sees his brother have need/not love in word/in deed and in truth:

James 2:14-24 "What <doth it> profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? {15} If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, {16} And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be <ye> warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what <doth it> profit? {17} Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. {18} Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: show me thy faith without thy works, and I will show thee my faith by my works. {19} Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. {20} But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? {21} Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? {22} Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? {23} And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. {24} Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only."

1 John 3:19 "And hereby we [ know ] that we are of the [ truth ], and shall assure our hearts before /\ him /\." We know - 1 John Theme.

We are of the truth: Through experiences of love in our heart/life

John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

1 John 3:20 "For if our heart condemn us, /\ God /\ is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things."

Heart:

Jeremiah 17:9 "The heart <is> deceitful above all <things>, and desperately wicked: who can know it?"

Matthew 15:19 "For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:"

Mark 7:21 "For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,"

See my paper: "Circumcision" for more information on this subject.

If our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart:

Romans 8:1 "<There is> therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit."

Romans 8:33-34 "Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? <It is> God that justifieth. {34} Who <is> he that condemneth? <It is> Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us."

Philippians 2:12-13 "Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. {13} For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of <his> good pleasure."

1 John 3:21 "Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, <then> have we confidence toward /\ God /\.

Psalms 21:2 "Thou hast given him his heart's desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah."

Proverbs 23:7 "For as he thinketh in his heart, so <is> he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart <is> not with thee."

1 John 3:22 "And whatsoever we ask, we receive of M him M, because we keep M his M commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in M his M sight." Also see 1 John 5:14. Conditions to God's promise.

Confidence toward God/whatsoever we ask we receive:

Matthew 21:22 "And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive."

John 14:13-14 "And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. {14} If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do <it>."

Matthew 6:33 "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

John 15:7 "If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you."

James 4:3 "Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume <it> upon your lusts." Why prayer does not get answered

1 John 3:23 "And this is M his M commandment, That we should believe on the name of /\ his /\ M Son M M Jesus M T Christ T, and [ love ] one another, as M he M gave us commandment." As he, so us: 1 John theme.

John 13:35 "By this shall all <men> know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another."

God's promises: Conditions to be met: Believe; Act on belief; Love

1 John 3:24 "And he that keepeth M his M commandments dwelleth in M him M, and he in M him M. And hereby we [ know ] that M he M abideth in us, by the /\ Spirit /\ which M he M hath given us." We know - 1 John Theme. Also 1 John 4:13.

Dwelleth in him, and he in him:

Romans 8:16 "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:"

Ephesians 1:13-14 "In whom ye also <trusted>, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, {14} Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory."

V) FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD & HIS SPIRIT BY OUR LOVE {1 JOHN 4:1 - 4:21}:

FALSE LYING SPIRITS:

WHO: Beloved or Christian

1 John 4:1 "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of /\ God /\: because many false prophets are gone out into the world."

WHY: Try the spirits because many false prophets are in the world

Believe not every spirit/try the spirit whether they are of God:

- Confession of Jesus as Christ & He came in the flesh (4:2-4:3)

- Relationship to world (4:5)

- Compared with word of God (4:6)

- Holy Spirit's guidance (4:4-4:6)

- Love of brethren (4:7-4:21)

See my paper: "Holy Spirit Baptism" for more information on this subject.

Luke 9:55 "But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of."

Acts 17:11 "These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so."

See my paper: "God's Word/Bible/Scriptures" for more information on this subject.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

CONTRAST: Spirit of God and Spirit of the world {1 John 4:1 - 4:20}

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(1) {1 John 4:1} Spirit of God or false prophets

(2) {1 John 4:2} Spirit of God confesses that Jesus is come in the flesh.

(3) {1 John 4:3} Spirit that confesses not that Jesus is come in the flesh is the spirit of antichrist.

(4) {1 John 4:4} Have overcome them because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world.

(5) {1 John 4:5} They are of the world so they speak of the world and the world hears them.

(6) {1 John 4:6} We are of God so he that is of God hears us and he that is not of God does not hear us. That is how we know the Spirit of truth and the spirit of error.

(7) {1 John 4:7} Love one another for love is of God and born of God and knows God.

(8) {1 John 4:8} He that loves not is not of God for God is love.

(9) {1 John 4:18} No fear in love, but perfect love cast out fear because he that fears is not perfect in love.

(10) {1 John 4:20} If a man says he loves God & hates his brother he is a liar for he that loves not his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Many false prophets:

Matthew 24:11 "And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many." Last days conditions.

Matthew 7:16 "Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?"

1 Corinthians 14:29 "Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge." Compare prophecy with the scriptures.

WAY: Every spirit that confess that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God

1 John 4:2 "Hereby [ know ] ye the /\ Spirit /\ of /\ God /\ : Every spirit that confesseth that M Jesus M T Christ T is come in the flesh is of /\ God /\" We know - 1 John Theme.

1 John 4:3 "And every spirit that confesseth not that M Jesus M T Christ T is come in the flesh is not of /\ God /\: and this is that <spirit> of [ antichrist ], whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world."

Every spirit that confesses (not) that Jesus is come in the flesh:

2 John 9 "Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son." Doctrine of Christ includes virgin birth, Jesus was perfect man & God together.

WHAT: You are of God & have overcome them because greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world.

1 John 4:4 "Ye are of /\ God /\, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is /\ he /\: that is in you, than he that is in the world." Jesus/Holy Spirit/Father in you is greater than Satan.

Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world (Satan):

1 Corinthians 3:16 "Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and <that> the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?"

John 14:23 "Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him."

Romans 8:31 "What shall we then say to these things? If God <be> for us, who <can be> against us?"

Overcomers:

The overcomer will conquer, prevail, get the victory and has the means of success. Following are many scripture promises to the person who overcomes:

1 John 5:4-5 "For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, <even> our faith. {5} Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?"

Revelation 2:7 "He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the tree of life, which is in the midst of the paradise of God."

Revelation 2:17 "He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches; To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna, and will give him a white stone, and in the stone a new name written, which no man knoweth saving he that receiveth <it>."

Revelation 2:26-28 "And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: {27} And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. {28} And I will give him the morning star."

Revelation 3:5 "He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels."

Revelation 3:12 "Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, <which is> new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and <I will write upon him> my new name."

Revelation 3:21 "To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne."

Revelation 12:11 "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death."

Revelation 21:7 "He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son."

1 John 4:5 "They are of the world: therefore speak they of the world, and the world heareth them." World system still under Satan.

1 John 4:6 "We are of God: he that knoweth God heareth us; he that is not of God heareth not us. Hereby [ know ] we the spirit of [ truth ], and the spirit of error." We know - 1 John Theme. See 1 John 4:1.

WANT: Beloved love one another for love is of God and loves one another and knows God.

1 John 4:7 "Beloved, let us [ love ] one another: for [ love ] is of /\ God /\; and every one that [ loveth ] is [ born ] of /\ God /\, and knoweth /\ God /\."

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(14) {1 John 4:11} If God so loved us, we ought to love one another.

(22) {1 John 5:1} Believe that Jesus is the Christ is born of God & everyone that loves God is begotten of Him.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Love:

1 Corinthians 13:4-7 "Charity suffereth long, <and> is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, {5} Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; {6} Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; {7} Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things." Charity = love.

See my paper: "Love" for more information on this subject.

1 John 4:8 "He that [ loveth ] not knoweth not /\ God /\; for /\ God /\ is [ love ]."

God is Love: His characteristic by nature. Like we are human.

1 John 4:9 "In this was manifested the [ love ] of /\ God /\ toward us, because that /\ God /\ sent his only [ begotten ] M Son M into the world, that we might live through M him M. "

Begotten Son (Unique Son): To cause, bring forth, produce, father.

Psalms 2:7 "I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou <art> my Son; this day have I begotten thee." What day?

Acts 13:33 "God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee."

We might live through him:

John 15:5 "I am the vine, ye <are> the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing."

John 10:10 "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have <it> more abundantly."

WHILE: Not that we loved God, but that He first loved us and sent His Son to be our propitiation for our sins.

1 John 4:10 "Herein is [ love ], not that we [ loved ] /\ God /\, but that /\ he /\ [ loved ] us, and sent /\ his /\ M Son M <to be> the propitiation for our [ sins ]."

Herein is love: God gave His best. We should be giving people.

Romans 5:8 "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." We were not pure/worthy.

Propitiation: What satisfied God scale of justice. See 1 John 2:2

John 15:13 "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."

See my paper: "Salvation Biblical Word Glossary" for more information on this subject.

1 John 4:11 "Beloved, if /\ God /\ so [ loved ] us, we ought also to [ love ] one another."

We ought also to love one another:

2 Corinthians 5:14 "For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:"

1 John 4:12 "No man hath seen /\ God /\ at any time. If we [ love ] one another, /\ God /\ dwelleth in us, and /\ his /\ [ love ] is perfected in us."

No man has seen God at any time:

Exodus 33:20 "And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live."

John 14:8-9 "Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us. {9} Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou <then>, Show us the Father?"

His love is perfected in us: When Christians love. Also 1 John 2:5

1 John 4:13 "Hereby [ know ] we that we dwell in /\ him /\, and /\ he /\ in us, because /\ he /\ hath given us of /\ his /\ /\ Spirit /\." We know - 1 John Theme. Also 1 John 3:24

Colossians 2:9-10 "For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily. {10} And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:" Jesus is in the Spirit in us.

1 John 4:14 "And we have seen and do testify that the /\ Father /\ sent the M Son M <to be> the T Saviour T of the world."

Father sent the Son to be the saviour of the world:

John 14:10 "Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works."

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

See my paper: "Jesus in the Old Testament" for more information on this subject.

1 John 4:15 "Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of /\ God /\, /\ God /\ dwelleth in M him M , and he in /\ God /\."

Confess that Jesus is the Son of God:

Romans 10:9-10 "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. {10} For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

1 John 4:16 "And we have known and believed the [ love ] that /\ God /\ hath to us. /\ God /\ is [ love ]; and he that dwelleth in [ love ] dwelleth in /\ God /\, and /\ God /\ in him." As he, so us. We know - 1 John Theme.

WAIT: Our love made perfect that we may have boldness in the day of judgment

1 John 4:17 "Herein is our [ love ] made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as /\ he /\ is, so are we in this world." As he, so us. Boldness = confidence. As he, so us: 1 John theme.

See my paper: "Judgment of Believers & Unbelievers" for more information on this subject.

1 John 4:18 "There is no fear in [ love ]; but perfect [ love ] casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in [ love ]."

Our love made perfect/no fear in love / casts out fear:

Romans 8:35 "Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? <shall> tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?"

Romans 8:38-39 "For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, {39} Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

1 John 4:19 "We [ love ] /\ him /\, because he first [ loved ] us."

Romans 5:8 "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

1 John 4:20 "If a man say, I [ love ] /\ God /\, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that [ loveth ] not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he [ love ] /\ God /\ whom he hath not seen?" We say/he say, Man's False Professions - 1 John Theme.

He that loves not his brother whom he has seen:

1 Thessalonians 4:9 "But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another."

See my paper: "Marriage, Divorce, & Remarriage" for more information on this subject.

1 John 4:21 "And this commandment have we from /\ him /\, That he who [ loveth ] /\ God /\ [ love ] his brother also."

VI) FELLOWSHIP WITH GOD BY BELIEF IN JESUS CHRIST {1 JOHN 5:1 - 5:21}: - Faith and love the overcoming principles:

LOVE FOR BRETHREN:

WHO: Whosoever (Christian) WAY: Believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God

1 John 5:1 "Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is [ born ] of /\ God /\: and every one that [ loveth ] him that [ begat ] [ loveth ] him also that is [ begotten ] of him." See also 1 John 2:29 for born again.

Him that begat:

Colossians 1:15 "Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:" Jesus is firstborn of all born again.

See my paper: "What is a Born-Again & How to Become One?" for more information on this subject.

1 John 5:2 "By this we [ know ] that we [ love ] the children of /\ God /\, when we [ love ] /\ God /\, and keep his commandments." We know - 1 John Theme.

Children of God: By adoption into His Kingdom:

Romans 8:16-17 "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: {17} And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with <him>, that we may be also glorified together."

Galatians 3:26 "For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus."

1 John 5:3 "For this is the [ love ] of /\ God /\, that we keep /\ his /\ commandments: and /\ his /\ commandments are not grievous."

His commandments are not grievous (burdensome):

Matthew 11:28-30 "Come unto me, all <ye> that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. {29} Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. {30} For my yoke <is> easy, and my burden is light." Jesus has completed the course for us.

OVERCOMER OF WORLD SYSTEM:

1 John 5:4 "For whatsoever is [ born ] of /\ God /\ overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, <even> our faith." See also 1 John 2:15-16 (world) & 1 John 4:4 (overcome).

1 John 5:5 "Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that M Jesus M is the M Son M of /\ God /\?"

Who is he that overcomes the world:

Isaiah 59:19 "So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him."

HAVE TESTIMONY OF WHO JESUS IS:

1 John 5:6 "This is he that came by water and blood, <even> M Jesus M T Christ T; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the /\ Spirit /\ that beareth witness, because the /\ Spirit /\ is [ truth ]."

Water: Baptism of John/washing by water of the word/human birth.

Mark 1:9-11 "And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. {10} And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: {11} And there came a voice from heaven, <saying>, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

See my paper: "Apostle Baptism" for more information on this subject.

Ephesians 5:26 "That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,"

Blood: Crucifixion/sacrifice/life for mankind.

Ephesians 1:7 "In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;"

Romans 6:3-5 "Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? {4} Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. {5} For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also <in the likeness> of <his> resurrection:"

1 John 5:7 "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the /\ Father /\, the /\ Word /\, and the /\ Holy Ghost /\: and these /\ three are one /\."

Bear record in heaven: Godhead in Isaiah with Jesus speaking.

Isaiah 48:16 "Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there <am> I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me."

Mark 1:10-11 "And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: {11} And there came a voice from heaven, <saying>, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."

See my paper: "The One God - The Shama" for more information on this subject.

In the presents of two or three witnesses: Following are other two or three witnesses scriptures.

Matthew 18:16 "But if he will not hear <thee>, <then> take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established."

Deuteronomy 19:15 "One witness shall not rise up against a man for any iniquity, or for any sin, in any sin that he sinneth: at the mouth of two witnesses, or at the mouth of three witnesses, shall the matter be established."

1 Timothy 5:19 "Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses."

2 Corinthians 13:1 "This <is> the third <time> I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established."

Hebrews 6:18 "That by two immutable things, in which <it was> impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:"

1 John 5:8 "And there are /\ three /\ that bear witness in earth, the /\ Spirit /\, and the water, and the blood: and these

/\ three /\ agree in /\ one /\."

Spirit, and the water, and the blood: Spirit shows sin & the need for Jesus; Water baptism into Jesus; Blood shows Jesus sacrifice.

1 John 1:7 "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin."

1 Peter 3:21 "The like figure whereunto <even> baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:"

1 John 5:9 "If we receive the witness of men, the witness of /\ God /\ is greater: for this is the witness of /\ God /\ which

/\ he /\ hath testified of /\ his /\ M God M."

Witness of God - Holy Spirit:

Romans 8:16 "The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:"

1 John 5:10 "He that believeth on the M Son M of /\ God /\ hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not /\ God /\ hath made /\ him /\ a liar; because he believeth not the record that /\ God /\ gave of his M Son M."

KNOW YOU HAVE ETERNAL LIFE:

God has called, chosen, elected, & predestinated you to be His child who He gave eternal life:

See my paper: "Is Free Will Biblical?" for more information on this subject.

See my paper: "Some Saved and Some Lost God's Sovereignty" for more information on this subject.

See my paper: "God Plans for His Purpose. Who Harden Pharaoh's Heart?" for more information on this subject.

1 John 5:11 "And this is the record, that /\ God /\ hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in /\ his /\ M Son M."

WHAT: God has given to us eternal life and this life is in His Son

1 John 5:12 "He that hath the M Son M hath life; <and> he that hath not the M Son M of /\ God /\ hath not life."

Eternal life: See also 1 John 1:2.

John 3:36 "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him."

John 17:3 "And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." See my paper: "The Jewish Messiah Must Fulfill Scriptures" for more information on this subject.

WHY: You may know that you have eternal life

1 John 5:13 "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the M Son M of /\ God /\; that ye may [ know ] that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the M Son M of /\ God /\."

We know - 1 John Theme. Purpose of John's letter.

Know Truth:

John 8:32 "And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free." Jesus is the truth (John 14:6).

HOW TO PRAY:

See my paper: "Prayer" for more information on this subject.

1 John 5:14 "And this is the confidence that we have in /\ him /\, that, if we ask any thing according to /\ his /\ will, he heareth us:"

WANT: We ask His will, know that He hears us, whatsoever we ask, we have the petitions that we desire of Him.

1 John 5:15 "And if we know that /\ he /\ hear us, whatsoever we ask, we [ know ] that we have the petitions that we desired of /\ him /\." We know - 1 John Theme.

We know that we have the petitions:

Matthew 21:22 "And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive."

James 4:3 "Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume <it> upon your lusts." Ask for correct reason.

Mark 11:22-25 "And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. {23} For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. {24} Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive <them>, and ye shall have <them>. {25} And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses."

Psalms 37:4-5 "Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. {5} Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring <it> to pass."

Luke 11:9-13 "And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. {10} For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened. {11} If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if <he ask> a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? {12} Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? {13} If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall <your> heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?"

See my paper: "Faith" for more information on this subject.

1 John 5:16 "If any man see his brother [ sin ] a [ sin ] <which is> not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that [ sin ] not unto death. There is a [ sin ] unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it."

His brother sin ... not unto death:

Galatians 6:1 "Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted."

1 John 5:17 "All unrighteousness is [ sin ]: and there is a [ sin ] not unto death."

Sin unto death: Following are four unpardonable sins.

Blasphemy the Holy Spirit:

Matthew 12:22-31 "Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw. {23} And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David? {24} But when the Pharisees heard <it>, they said, This <fellow> doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils. {25} And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand: {26} And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand? {27} And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast <them> out? therefore they shall be your judges. {28} But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. {29} Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house. {30} He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad. {31} Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy <against> the <Holy> Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men."

Mark 3:28-30 "Verily I say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme: {29} But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation: {30} Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit."

John 3:1-2 "There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: {2} The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him."

This sin is accounted to those who did it with knowledge. They saw the miracles, but rejected Jesus, knowing he is from the kingdom of God. They called good evil & Jesus evil while knowing he did good.

See my paper: "Unpardonable Sin" for more information on this subject.

Coming great tribulation receiving the mark of the beast:

Revelation 13:16 "And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:" God does warn & they know the mark's penalty.

Revelation 14:9-11 "And the third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive <his> mark in his forehead, or in his hand, {10} The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: {11} And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day nor night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name."

Revelation 19:20 "And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone."

Revelation 20:4 "And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and <I saw> the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received <his> mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years."

Fall away or departing the faith (apostatize):

See my paper: "Apostasy" for more information on this subject.

Proverbs 29:1 "He, that being often reproved hardeneth <his> neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy."

Romans 1:28 "And even as they did not like to retain God in <their> knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;"

Hebrews 6:4-6 "For <it is> impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, {5} And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, {6} If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put <him> to an open shame."

Hebrews 10:26-29 "For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, {27} But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. {28} He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses: {29} Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?"

An example could be Judas Iscariot.

Matthew 26:24 "The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but woe unto that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man if he had not been born."

Matthew 27:4-5 "Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What <is that> to us? see thou <to that>. {5} And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself."

God's punishment for sin can be more severe, for a similar sin, during various dispensational periods (such as with Israel's first King Saul or when Church first started - Ananias and his wife).

Not receiving Jesus during their life:

Romans 10:13 "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Does not call upon Jesus means they are lost.

John 3:36 "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." Does not believe equals spiritually dead.

The person's conscience would be seared and would curse God or want nothing to do with God. God would sent them evil spirit (King Saul 1 Samuel 16:14-15) or reprobate mind: Romans 1:28 below (maybe Judas) There is no hope for a person who truly commits the unpardonable sin. Pray should not be made to God for that person.

1 Timothy 4:2 "Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;"

Romans 1:28 "And even as they did not like to retain God in <their> knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;"

GOD SUPPLIER KNOWLEDGE AND WE ARE TO ACT UPON THE KNOWLEDGE:

1 John 5:18 "We [ know ] that whosoever is [ born ] of /\ God /\ [ sinneth ] not; but he that is [ begotten ] of /\ God /\ keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not." We know - 1 John Theme. Jesus never sinned. Satan is not in him.

See my paper: "Preservation and Perseverance of the Elect" for more information on this subject.

1 John 5:19 "<And> we [ know ] that we are of /\ God /\, and the whole world lieth in wickedness." We know - 1 John Theme.

WHILE: We know that we are of God, and the whole world is in wickedness

The whole world lieth in wickedness:

John 3:19 "And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil."

1 John 5:20 "And we [ know ] that the M Son M of /\ God /\ is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may [ know ] him that is true, and we are in him that is true, <even> in his M Son M M Jesus M T Christ T. This is the true /\ God /\, and eternal life." We know - 1 John Theme.

We are him that is true, Jesus Christ:

John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

Jude 20-21 "But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, {21} Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life."

1 John 5:21 "Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen."

Idols: Anything that substitutes for God. This could include job, family, money, fame, and worldly goods or interests.
