X-10 Control  Interface Systems

        NEW WEBPAGE DEVELOPED

Welcome to the NEW X-10 Control Interface Systems page. We've been able to develop yet another product area to better serve the needs of you...the customer. Home Automation (or HA) has hit the market more in the year 2000 than ever before. Part of the reason behind this is new technology which makes it affordable and simple to interface with. This has had the full support of X-10 via it's line of developer products. They realized a long time ago that others would want to interface to their modules.

They have accommodated these developers with their PL513 (one way communication) and TW523 (two way communication). We'll be using the PL513 for our products. It is available for $ 20.00 delivered to your door from  X-10 Corp They also carry all the other components you will need to build your own system.

        Personal Computer/X-10 Interface Just Released...

We're happy to bring you an exciting first product in this area. We designed a PIC-based interface which fits inside a DB-25 connector! And it derives it's power directly from the serial port. Here's a look at the actual prototype before it is installed in the DB-25 shell. As you can see, we built it on perf board.

Now for the rest of the information. We've developed a FREE Visual Basic interface program. Just download the two self-extracting executable Zipped files below. The installable disks are then used to load the program onto your own personal computer.

This program will allow you to setup ALL 16 CHANNELS and CONTROL ALL THE FUNCTIONS. You can even select as many channels as you like and perform ganged commands like On..Off...Brighten...Dim!

Now here's the rest of it...the construction article and the schematic. The article is only 2 pages (the shortest one we've ever written). The reason is simple...it doesn't take much to understand the project. The Visual Basic program is intuitive and it's very easy to figure out. And the schematic...it's the simpliest project we've ever designed. We hope you get as much enjoyment out of this as we did...
