THE FAERIE QUEEN

Based on Book One of The Faerie Queen,
by Edmund Spenser

One Page Synopsis

This romantic satire is based on the first book Edmund Spenser's epic fantasy, The Faerie Queen. It would be well-suited to either an adult animation or live-action film using digital special effects.

The story begins in Faerieland, at the court of Queen Gloriana. Gloriana asks her first knight, Sir George, to escort Princess Una back to her parents in Eden. George, immediately smitten by Una, agrees readily -- his reward for delivering the princess safely will be her hand in marriage.

George and Una set out on their journey, accompanied by George's squire, Jonathan. While looking for a Holiday Inn, the three encounter an evil enchanter named Archimago, who fools them into believing he is a hermit, and invites them to share his house for the night. When the house turns out to be a mansion, Una is taken aback, and the following morning she discovers that George and Jonathan have left her behind.

George has been tricked by Archimago, and abandons his quest. He becomes entangled with some very strange people at the court of Infernesse, where the Queen, Lucifera and her consort Satanus are the proprietors of a white slave trade. George defeats an evil knight and liberates a woman he believes to be a good maiden but who is in reality a Demoness named Duessa. Duessa leads George on a trip through a kinky wonderland, until he is finally reunited with Una. Along the way he is pursued by the two brothers of the knight he killed in combat, and Duessa works behind the scenes to have him eliminated.

The film is populated by fantastic creatures and people such as Sylvanus, the God of the Forest and his son, Satyrane; Luna, Goddess of the Moon, Orgoglio, a land-owning troll, Prince Arthur, Gloriana's consort, and more. There is much opportunity for special effects.

When George finally delivers Una to Eden, Jonathan has acquired a girl of his own. But all is not well in Eden; they are plagued by a dragon who has taken up residence on a mountain and is plaguing them. When George goes to confront the dragon in battle, he discovers that she has come to Eden looking for a job as a bodyguard, and none of the people there can understand her; they are ignorant and blind because they refuse to eat from the Tree of Knowledge.

George straightens out King Adam and Queen Lilith, marries Una and they set off for Faerieland. This is a film not to be taken too seriously; it is a satire in many ways.
