Diana DeMille's "Chrysalis"
![]() |
A transformational piece celebrating a woman metamorphosing from her cocoon. The frog brain depicts her thinking too much. The waters are filled with the Egyptian symbol of creativity and rebirth - frogs. She now sees herself as the largest surviving sea mammal on Earth - the female Blue Whale. The Blue Whale bursts from her discombobulated yin-yang border. She has taken off her masks. A pair of eagles soar, about to couple in a mating dance wherein they plummet to the earth while in the act of copulating. The red yin-yang sun rises. A Celtic border surrounds the entire scene, symbolizing eternity. Preliminary sketches for Chrysalis (from my dreams) 48"x54" coloured pencil on masonite |
