Marilee Ford
Woman Artist With Breast Cancer
![]() |
The actual multimedia piece is 42" x 18" x 12". It is the centerpiece of a 106" circle around which I conducted a ritual to name and honor the ways in which women are invisible in our culture, and to bless our breasts and the breasts of all women. The black mannequin has a preserved piliated woodpecker attached to the right breast (the one I lost). It symbolizes the loss of my breast as a result of environmental contamination. This piece was part of my MA Graduate show at JFK University. I have many other pieces. I have begun my own web page, but am slow to get my art on it.
