Prednisone

Prednisone was prescribed for Diana's reaction to the chemo therapy of MCF (Methotrexate, Cyclophosphamide, Fluorouracil) in 1997.  Her reaction   to MCF was Acute Rheumatoid Arthritis  which her oncologist said was "one of a kind".  He sent her to an arthritic doctor who prescribed Prednisone to offset the intense pain.  She took Prednisone for a year and developed Glaucoma. She was not asked her familial history which included glaucoma and cataracts.  Prednisone exacerbates eye problems, which is anathema for an artist.  Much later, after talking with scores of women on the internet, she discovered this reaction to chemo of intense joint pain is very common.  Diana is happy to say that now in 2001 she does not have glaucoma or joint pain.

No where on the sheets of explanatory papers of MCF was glaucoma or cataracts or osteoporosis mentioned.  However, the papers did state that joint pain is a side effect of MCF.  Diana wonders why her oncologist did nothing for her pain for 5 days knowing that joint pain is a side effect of MCF.
