The Collings Foundation of Stow MA has come to Tucson for the last three years with their beautifully restored war birds. This year I could no longer resist the temptation to take a ride. As soon as the schedule came out on their web site I picked up the phone and reserved my slot.

Looking back at Marana Regional Airport Northwest of Tucson Arizona. They fly with this top hatch open witch allows you to get some great shots of the country side. Leave you hat on the ground.
Still looking back at Marana Regional Airport but now you can see some of the alfalfa fields just South of the airport.
After take off and the seat belts come off you're free to go almost anywhere in the aircraft. This gives you a real feel of what it was like to be aboard during a real mission.
Being able to move around inside the aircraft makes for some spectacular pictures made all the more interesting with the B-17's engines’ and wing in the foreground.
1200 HP Wright-Cyclone engines.

What a great view. The weather was just perfect that morning. But it is most of the time here in Arizona.
Looking forward through the bombay gives you an idea of the room inside the plane. Imagine talking through there with a parachute on. Snug !
The Group Shot
How fortunate that we had a real photographer on borad by the name of Wally Van Winkle (kneeling) who was willing to share this wonderful picture.
