Dave Wild IN PRINT

Now granted, this looks pretty egotistical at first glance--listing a big chunk of your resume on line. But--the name David Wild is not exactly uncommon. In fact, I know of at least three different "David Wilds" who have used that by-line: yours truly (the jazz author and pianist and your genial host); the "other" David Wild (an editor at Rolling Stone, author of books about TV shows and most recently host of a cable show called Musicians), and a third, of whom all I know is some photographs published in down beat in the mid 60's. So--in the interests of fairness, journalistic accuracy, and public admission of guilt, I've listed the bulk of what I've written over the years (as of December 2007). Since much of this material is about as accessible as the public library of the city of Atlantis, I've entered a couple of samples into evidence as Exhibits A and B...

Wild, David. The Recordings of John Coltrane: A Discography Ann Arbor MI: Wildmusic, 1977 (first edition), 1979 (second edition). This was the standard Coltrane discography until Yasuhiro Fujioka and Lewis Porter published a Coltrane discography in 1995. Its format was also adopted by most subsequent major discographies.
