Cooking classes at the Hyphen
Hyphen classes are aimed at teaching people techniques for cooking from scratch. Recipes and variations are provided, but the important thing you take home is the knowledge which allows you to follow any other recipes of that genre, and also how to make up your own. Adult classes usually last about 1 1/2 hours.

Salsas and Gazpacho Sunday, June 22, 3pm $25
Learn to make fresh salsas. We will do a fruit salsa, and a more typical fresh tomato salsa, but once you get the idea, the possibilities are endless. Perfect for topping fish, chicken, bean dishes, quesadillas. We will also make a large batch of gazpacho. Good opportunity for practicing knifework.

Scones and Muffins Sunday, June 29, 3pm $18
Back by popular request, we will make one type of muffin and one type of scone, with recipes provided for several variations. Hands on.

Kids Baking Cookies Monday, June 23 4:30pm $20
For children ages 7 and up, this should be fun. They will learn the basics of following a cookie recipe, and everyone gets to participate. Of course, they also get to bring home cookies. This should take about an hour.

Please pre-register at the Hyphen. Since we do not run classes with less than three people, it is important to pre-register if you are planning to come, so the class does not get cancelled. Adult classes are limited to 12, children’s classes to 8. Because of the minimum, we don’t give refunds if you change your mind at the last minute, but you are free to give (or sell) your space to someone else. If we cancel a class, you will get a full refund.
If you have questions, feel free to call the Hyphen at (919)567-0303. Ask for Nina.
