Guy William Adair was born on October 16, 1932 in Pinetop, Arizona. He was the eighth child born to Clements David Adair and Violet Helen Packer: Edgar Clements, Kenneth Adrian, Goldie Marie, Virginia Evelyn, John Taylor, Mavis June, Millie Louise, Guy William, Wanda Irene, Marjorie Velda, and Shirley Loree.

Guy was married on June 13, 1953 to Beverly Jean Austin, daughter of Arthur Eugene Austin and Lois Winifred McCuddin. They are the parents of Debra Jean, Vera Lynn, Lois Ann, David Eugene, Joel Kane, and Melinda Sue.
