One Classroom at a Time

Educational Awards

Provided to Individual Classrooms Throughout the Virgin Islands

Education is always near the top of the list as one of the biggest concerns that people have for their community.  Here in the Virgin Islands it is no different.  The

educational needs of our children are great.  Teachers, however, often find it difficult to acquire the resources that can help them teach and also enrich the studentsÕ learning experiences.

ÒOne Classroom at a TimeÓ is an educational project that will help solve some of these problems for many teachers and their students.  With the support of our community partners WSVI-TV/Channel 8 will present educational awards to individual classrooms throughout the Virgin Islands.

Every other week during the school year, $1,000 awards will be presented    to individual classrooms who present a specific need or project that will directly benefit the students.

▲ Teachers and school officials may apply, or classrooms can be nominated by the PTA, or any other school based club/organization.  A written proposal must be submitted explaining how they intend to use the award money. Some classroom needs may include books, computers, art supplies, field trips or musical instruments, just to mention a few possibilities.

An advisory board made up of area educational leaders and sponsor

representatives will meet on a monthly basis to evaluate proposals and

      distribute the award funds.

The ÒOne Classroom at a TimeÓ project will be heavily promoted through out the weeks on WSVI-TV/Channel 8.

The winners of  each award will be featured every other week during           WSVI-TV NewsChannel 8, showcasing the award presentation in their classroom or assembly hall.
