Double Helix was recorded by Joel Suben conducting the Silesian Philharmonic Orchestra (of Katowice, Poland) in December of 1994.    The post-production work was completed early in 1995 but the powers-that-be at the company that released the disk turned out to be a bunch of lying, uncooperative !*@#&*$'s who consistently refused to give me a release date. Finally, after years of waiting, the disk was released (MMC 2069) in December of 1998.   Joel and the Orchestra did an admirable job given a ridiculously light rehearsal schedule.  Unless it shows up on ebay, the cheapest place to get it is from the scheming bastards who produced it.

A couple of years later, Rolv Yttrehus' Symphony was being recorded by the same organization and he insisted that they re-release my piece on the same disk as his.  Exact same performance, lamer program notes (the bimbo who wrote them had the nerve to tell me that my thoughts about the piece didn't make any sense to her so she was just going to write what she felt(!) and the accompanying pieces are better.  The same scheming bastards sell it for the same price

A significant excerpt of The Little Prince will be on volume two of Giant for an Hour, a tribute album to Gentle Giant.  Volume 1 is currently available at CDBaby and Volume 2 should be there by July, 2006.

Just available as a CDR by contacting me but you can get all of The Little Prince in both the full dance score and the seperate concert suite.

I've also recently put together The David Kowalski Sampler Platter featuring some of the better performances of my classical pieces of the year.  Again, it's only available as a CDR directly from me right now.

A few other things possibly coming up in the future:

We don't have a distributor yet, but my long-time friend, Jeffrey Farrington and I have been working off-and-on (mostly off of late) on a 2-CD tribute to my late wife, soprano Michelle Disco.  The set will consist solely of performances by Michelle, spanning a sizable period of her career.  Works of mine scheduled for inclusion are Echoes, Circonspection and either The Windhover or Two Sonnets.  Jeff has become fairly active as a producer of what he describes as "relentlessly non-commercial" music and this has stolen much of his focus from this project.  I, on the other hand, have been sufficiently involved with new musical projects that I've not had much time for it.  We had planned to have the CD for sale (either privately or through a distributorship) sometime before the end of 1999 but at this point I have to describe it as being on indefinite hold.

Joel Suben and I have talked about recording my (relatively) recent revision of the now-near-ancient Metamorphosis (there is an orchestra he works with in Poland which has expressed interest in the work) but, to tell the truth, I haven't even completed the clean score of the revision so don't look for this disk too soon.

For what it's worth, I've been toying with self-producing a disk combining my Clarinet Quartet with similarly-scored large works by Allen Anderson and Donald Martino but that's not even in the planning stage.

Finally, I sometimes think I'd like to do a disk of some of my old progressive rock pieces.  I've already done MIDI implementations of a few of these and, although I'm pleased with the results, I'd want to do quite a bit of polishing before I set them loose on an unsuspecting public.  I enjoy doing these pieces (however far removed they are from my more "grown-up" compositional style) and they serve as a convenient excuse to buy some of the newest electronic technology but, frankly, this project is a low-enough priority that it will probably be at least a few years before I begin to make any headway on this.

NOTE:  I'm starting to prepare MP3 excerpts of several of my pieces.  I hope to have those available for download at some point fairly soon.

I'll also be setting up to provide on-demand CD-R's of several of my rock and classical pieces.  Stay tuned!
