Order of St. Hubertus Haus-Ritter-Orden vom heiligen Hubertus Bavaria's oldest and highest order, founded in 1444 by Gerhard V, Duke of Jülich-Berg. It went through several permutations, was revived in 1708 and confirmed in 1800 as the Kingdom's highest order by Maximilian Joseph, the Prince-Elector of Bavaria and from 1806 Maximilian I, King of Bavaria. Order of St. George Haus-Ritter-Orden vom heiligen Georg Bavaria's second-highest order, established in 1729. The order came in three classes - Grand Cross Master (Großkreuzherr or Großkomtur), Commander (Komtur) and Knight (Ritter or Ordensritter). Merit Order of the Bavarian Crown Verdienstorden der Bayerischen Krone Founded in 1808 by King Maximilian I. The order came in four classes - Grand Cross (Großkreuz), Grand Commander's Cross (Großkomturkreuz), Commander's Cross (Komturkreuz), and Knight's Cross (Ritterkreuz). Merit Order of St. Michael Verdienstorden vom heiligen Michael Founded in 1693 and revived by King Ludwig I in 1837. By 1910, the order have evolved to have a full range of classes - Grand Cross (Großkreuz), 1st Class (I. Klasse), 2nd Class with Star (II. Klasse mit Stern), 2nd Class (II. Klasse), Honor Cross (Ehrenkreuz), 3rd Class (III. Klasse), 4th Class with Crown (IV. Klasse mit der Krone), and 4th Class (IV. Klasse) - along with an associated Merit Cross (Verdienstkreuz), with and without crown, and silver and bronze medals of the order.
